Brother Gary Sunday Morning 6/1/14

Brother Gary Sunday Morning 6/1/14
Mat 6:9  After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Mat 6:10  Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Mat 6:11  Give us this day our daily bread.
Mat 6:12  And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
Mat 6:13  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

One of the thoughts that Jesus left as He was teaching us to pray is that we would pray that His kingdom would come.

Rom 14:17  For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

If they say the kingdom is out there somewhere, don’t believe it for it is within you.

Luk 17:20  And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
Luk 17:21  Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

We thank God that Jesus came and brought a kingdom of righteousness, peace, and joy.  My thought this morning for the graduates is that God’s will be done.

Sometimes people make spiritual things a mystery so they cannot figure it out nor can anyone else.  Jesus taught us in Matthew 18 about children, their angels behold the father’s face on behalf of them.  He then came down to this thought, “It is not the Father’s will that anyone perish.”

I was struck with the word, ‘perish,’ recently.  We are blessed in America with bibles, commentaries, and concordances.  A concordance that is exhaustive has a reference to each word in the bible whether it is Hebrew or Greek.  If you look up the word, ‘perish’, you will find reference number 622 in the Greek.

The first thought is that we be not destroyed.  We live in a society where it almost chills us when we see men and women allowing their minds and bodies to be destroyed by sin.

It is not the father’s will that your life be marred and scarred.  You may say, “If it is not the Father’s will that I perish, because of sin I have already marred and scarred my life.”  We have all sinned according to the Word of God.  Sin scars every relationship.

When we come to Christ confessing and repenting of our sin, we become a new man.

2Co 5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

The father desires that your life from that point on be not scarred, marred, and deteriorated from sin and the affects of sin.

Concerning God’s will:

Eph 5:17  Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

It is vital that you know God’s will for your life.  I was thinking of the thought of young people this morning, what would be the will of God for young people?  To be saved and sanctified, to present their body a living sacrifice.

David had a son, Solomon, God moved upon David to say to Solomon, “My son, be strong and do the will of God.”

This morning to every parent, grandparent, friend, or that one that doesn’t know the graduates but has an interest in them, we would all say as David, “Be strong and do the will of God.”

It is the weak link that causes people to stumble.  We have a God that can strengthen the weak link and cause us to be strong and do the will of God.

1Ti 4:11  These things command and teach.
1Ti 4:12  Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
1Ti 4:13  Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
1Ti 4:14  Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
1Ti 4:15  Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

It is a high calling and the will of God.  Be an example to the believers.

2Ti 2:15  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

In this congregation, it has been part of our teaching to have morning devotions.  Read some of the scripture and have prayer.  Enter the closet, shut the world out, and have your devotions.  Something else that is vital is to learn to study the Word of God.

I have a learning disability and God looked over it and was kind to me and this congregation is kind.  There has been many a man or woman that couldn’t even read or write but they prayed, “God help me to know what he will of God is.”

Rabi Zachariah was in India and endeavored to commit suicide, he failed and someone gave him a bible.  He got a hold of God and said, “I’m going to, with the help of God, find God and do His will.”

God doesn’t look upon men and women as smart or dumb.  God would have all men be saved and come to the knowledge of truth.

1Th 4:3  For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
1Th 4:4  That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

Many are happy to be freed from their sin but want to go on and live their own way.  Jesus suffered without the camp that He might sanctify His people with His blood.

It is lives not pews or pianos that are to be sanctified.  We are to present our bodies to God holy acceptable

Rom 12:1  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Rom 12:2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

The most wonderful thing for any life is the will of God.  More important than what we would have on our list, we want to do the will of God.

The will of God is not mysterious; it is God opening the door, giving you a burden, and you doing it.

Isa 40:11  He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.

Karen and I love sheep.  We love to go see them and see the baby lambs.

The Great Shepherd wants to feed you spiritually.  If you are fed on the inside then it will give you strength to overcome temptation.

When an individual gets saved they become a babe and a new lamb.  The Shepherd will carry them close to His bosom.  The heart of God is concerned and cares about me.

There are those in this audience that are so burdened.  In all the cares, emotions, and stress of a burden the Great Shepherd is concerned about leading you.

Rev 21:7  He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

He that overcomes shall inherit all things.  The Best is for the individual that will take the challenge, “I am going to overcome.”  Some of the greatest things to overcome are your own thoughts and fears.

“I will be His God and he will be my son.”  If you are a daughter He’ll have you as His daughter.
