Brother Gary Wednesday Evening 6/11/14
Psa 4:2 O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.
I believe B.E. Warren wrote the song, “My soul is satisfied.” That is a rare condition today. It is an old problem of loving vanity. It is so sad when people try to find
fulfillment from anything other than God.
If we have God then we don’t have to try to satisfy
ourselves with whatever it may be that is out there. The vanity of David’s day is different than
what there is in 2014 but the result is the same. The soul is left empty.
Seek after leasing, means enjoying lies, hypocrisy and those
types of things.
Selah means stop and consider, pause. It is good to stop and consider, “Lord where
am I hoping for my springs to come from?
What am I hoping will be my satisfaction and my joy?
1Pe 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying
the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart
fervently:
Isn’t it wonderful that we can purify our souls by obeying the
truth?
It is so very important that we make the love of the brethren
a standard in our life, to have genuine love for one another.
Love one another with a pure heart fervently.
Rom 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love
of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
You may be a loving person.
If you are then you have already found out that you are at times a
loving person. Salvation positions us to
have the love of God shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost.
In less than 24 hours we will see little children from
different walks of life. We will
probably not try to discern whether they have good or bad parents. Sometimes you don’t want to know those things;
not because you don’t want to pray, but you don’t want to position yourselves
where you shouldn’t be.
We hope to see the Word of God sown in the hearts of the
children, to see the seed of the Word of God planted in the hearts of the children.
There are religious people in St Regis. The vast difference between us and Babylon is
that we love God. Not that we love people,
but that we love souls. You and I cannot
do it.
I thought as we came to church tonight, “Wouldn’t it be nice
to break forth into singing?” Karen must
have thought the same thing, she got it ready.
The vast difference between us and Babylon is that we love God
and love truth. It is our desire to do
the will of God. Unless we do the will of
God then we will never know the truth.
If any man will do the will of the Father then he shall know
the doctrine. God knows how to
work. The vast difference is that we
must have God and the love of God. Only God
can shed it abroad on our heart.
Wherever you are in loving people verses walking to your own
band and not caring what others do, the one thing we must have is a love for
souls. The only way for that to happen
is to have the Love of God shed abroad in our heart.
Mark recorded about the young man that came to Jesus, a fine
young man. It doesn’t sound like he
messed his life and mind up with sin. Yet
he loved vanity. He was very rich.
The Bible teaches us that Jesus looked upon him and loved
him. Because He loved him, he gave him the
answer to the great need of his life.
It is unfortunate for the young man that he didn’t take
heed. You and I know that. He had great possessions but he thought it
would cost him too much to follow Christ.
The reality is that it costs way too much to not follow
Christ.
We have a wealth of riches.
Eph 1:18 The eyes of your understanding being
enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the
riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
Eph 1:19 And what is
the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the
working of his mighty power,
The riches of the glory that the saints of God enjoy! Fear may come but there is a resource, it is
faith in God. Heartache comes, there is
a healer. Isn’t that absolutely
wonderful?
The wealth of the riches:
we have a friend that sticks closer than a brother. He is someone to turn to 24-7.
We have the reality of having fellowship. The saints are hungry for fellowship. We like to see people that are saved and love
God. It is a part of our inheritance.
Remember when the disciples were tired and Jesus said, “We
need to go in the boat and come apart and rest a while.” I don’t know where Jesus took the disciples
and they were going to rest. It wasn’t
long and a whole lot of people showed up.
He had compassion on the multitude.
Matt 16 what will a man give in exchange for his soul? What does this world have to offer that is
worth wandering away?
Babylon loves that song, “Prone to wander.” If I understand right, the man that wrote
that song wandered away and never got back.
My Bible doesn’t teach wandering but keeping focused and pressing to the
goal.
What will a man give in exchange for his soul?
