Brother Gyme Kelly Sunday School 6/22/14

Brother Gyme Kelly Sunday School 6/22/14
In the last Sunday school lessons we spoke of letting patience have her perfect work and of if you lack wisdom ask.  We talked of every good gift being from above.

Don’t be surprised if you go through hard times.  Let patience have her perfect work.

Life gives us all hard times.  Without God people turn bitter and it hardens them.  The difference is when people go through with God then God keeps them sweet.  He only lets us go through things that we can handle and they are for our good.  He is perfecting us and we can grow through that.

I have been through lessons more than once.  I have had to go through the same school and He taught me more than once.  We are looking at the end thing but God is looking at the process.  My personality is to get uptight, but God doesn’t want us that way.  If we fail, get up, go through, and learn what God wants to teach us.

Jas 1:18  Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

We all come the same way.  We must be born through the Word of truth.  There is only one way to heaven and that is to be born again and have that new experience.

Born through truth by the Word of God.

Jas 1:19  Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

We need to be careful what we speak.  Once we say something we cannot take it back.  We can apologize but we cannot take cutting words back.  We need to be slow to speak.  Pause a minute and let God check us instead of blurting out what we think.

Be swift to hear.  The most important part of communication is listening.

Jas 1:20  For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
Jas 1:21  Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

Cast off the works of darkness:

Rom 13:12  The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
Rom 13:13  Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
Rom 13:14  But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Put on the armor of light.  What is the armor of light?  There is protection there.  It is the truth, the Word of God.  God’s Word reveals what we need.  God reveals.  How many times has that still small voice kept us out of trouble?  It is the armor of God protecting us.

Jas 1:22  But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

We must be more than hearers.  We must put it in daily practice.  It is easy to teach of the grace of God and teach of all the beautiful things that it entails.  Putting it in practice in daily life is something that we must work at.  We must work out our salvation.

Jas 1:23  For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
Jas 1:24  For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

We don’t want to forget what God has brought us from.  There are people that have fallen away and you wouldn’t recognize them.  Every once in a while God reminds me what He saved me from.  He saved me from a lot.  It was a deep pit of sin.

Jas 1:25  But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

Our founding fathers were men of God and I like to read their words.  They are always thanking and praising God in their writings.  The principals of liberty came from the Bible.

This perfect law of liberty really gives us liberty to not be in bondage to sin and flesh.  This is where the real liberty is, not being in bondage to men.
