Brother Gary Sunday Morning 5/11/14

Brother Gary Sunday Morning 5/11/14
Pro 31:10  Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

A virtuous woman is a woman of strength, virtue, and energy.

Pro 31:11  The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

No greater treasure can a man have than a godly woman that he can trust with his emotions, with his love, to help him make the right decisions, and to help him see things in a balanced manner.

Isn’t it wonderful to have married one that you can trust?  To be a part of the bride of Christ and know that Christ can trust us to be faithful to Him?

Pro 31:12  She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
Pro 31:13  She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.

It is wonderful that the Gospel gives such order that God’s work always comes first.  I need to take care of my literal family, of the family of God, and then all these other things.  We must have our priorities right or we will not be a man of valor or a lady of virtue.

It is so wonderful that we realize that our time is the Lord’s.  The first thing as a mother and as a father is to take the time to communicate with God and know that, “This is what God wants me to do.”  Take the time to do what God lays on your heart.

Give of your best to the master.  Give to God first and He positions us to have the right priorities in our life.

Pro 31:14  She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
Pro 31:15  She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.

Psalms 77:6 I call to remembrance my song in the night.

Some of us have reached seasons where we wake up in the night.  It is a wonderful thing that God ordained for us to have a song in the night.

As the Body of Christ, she remembers the needs of her household.

Isn’t it wonderful to be able to wake up and think of your sons, of your daughters, and the common needs of mankind?  Every mother in this audience is undoubtedly burdened.  That is a part of the great plan of God.  It is important to know from God what to do with the burden.

Place your burden on God by faith and remember the song in the night that He brings.

Remember those that are in the night of sin, dark, groping for the wall, trying to find something that will satisfy that longing in the soul.

My mother’s testimony was that she longed after things because of the emptiness in her soul.  Many times, being a mother, it was for things that were in the household.  She would feel so bad because after she got what she thought that she wanted, it did not satisfy the longing in her soul.

In 1 Tim 6:6 It says Godliness with contentment is great gain.

We are so blessed that we have an eternal God, that sent His Son, that left an emptiness, a vault, in our soul that can only be satisfied with Godliness.  “A tent or a cottage why should I care?  They are building a mansion for me over there.”

The night of sorrow.  “Weeping may endure for the night, joy comes in the morning.”  I don’t know how God can comfort hearts or go through the maze of individuals’ lives.  Some individuals have a lot of grief in their life and they have a lot of remorse in their grief.  “I wish I would have went, called, been a better sister, uncle, wife, daughter, son…”

When we are honest with God and say, “God I have regrets.”  God has a way of comfort coming to our hearts and saying, “Yes, I know how you feel about your failure, your regret.  I already bore that for you and tasted that for you.  If you will come to me, open your heart to me, confess to me of your sin, failure and regret, I am a God that has comfort.”

Pro 31:16  She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

She isn’t concerned just about herself but also about others.  Keep focused and don’t let self be your focus.  Is there anything sadder in this world than a selfish mother or father?  Is there anything sadder in this world than an individual that only looks to their self?

She is concerned about her household and about others and about the church.

Pro 31:17  She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.

She seeks strength.  Life and problems will wear you out.  Your mind will get so tired that you will not be able to keep it all straight.  There is a source of strength.  That source is from God.

Pro 31:18  She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.

Keep focused to stay spiritually lit and be a light where you are.

The light is on.  We love the song about the lighthouse, “I thank God for the lighthouse.”  May God help us to leave the light on; it is burning, shining out to anyone that is looking for a way out of darkness.

Pro 31:19  She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
Pro 31:20  She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

The thought is the burden bearer.  It is a wonderful thing when that mother reaches out her hand to take care of the needs.  It is wonderful when the burden goes further, “I want to help someone else.”  We as the church want to help all that we possibly can.

Pro 31:21  She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

The household knows the plan of salvation.

Isa 61:10  I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.
Isa 61:11  For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.

There is only one way to be clothed with the garments of salvation, it is through confession and repentance to God.  When we confess and repent to God of our sin then He clothes us with the garments of salvation.

Salvation means deliverance.  When you get saved you can quit the sin business.  You are clothed with a garment of help.

As perilous as the times are spiritually, salvation is a garment of safety.  I know of a few of the dangers that are in the world, but I want to talk to you about the safety of the gospel.  It is a wonderful clothing.  Our senses may be exposed to something and the safety will tell you, “You’d better not go there.”  You will hear something and the safety will tell you, “You better not enter into that conversation.  Better not entertain that thought; it will take me down a spiral that I don’t want to go down.”

God can help us to maintain victory in our soul.  Challenges, problems, difficulties, heartaches, sorrow; all are a part of life.  The thought of victory is that I reign above it and my soul is satisfied.

It is wonderful that God gives us the jewels of the Word of God and how beautiful they make our life.

Pro 31:21  She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

Clothed with scarlet - The garments are double garments: salvation and sanctification.  God has ordained a way that we can be carried through the cold and winter months.

There will be seasons of hardship and difficulties even in the mild climates.  God can give you rest in your soul.

Pro 31:22  She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
Pro 31:23  Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
Pro 31:24  She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
Pro 31:25  Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.

The beauty of being clothed with strength!  Some days the pressure of the day brings stress and others it seems we are able to handle it.  Part of the secret is, “God I know that this is what you want me to do and you have promised strength and honor.”

There is something so beautiful of a godly mother serving with strength and honor.

My mother got into years before Karen and I got married but she never quit doing.  I remember when that little frail lady said, “I want you to come for dinner.”  She had that table set and knew how to put the flour, milk, eggs, salt one by one and then beat a while after each.  She put it into the oven and when we hit that house we’d smell those popovers.

Whatever you do, do it with strength and honor.  Don’t be cheap.  If you are poor and you have sown good seed, and a lot of it, then the harvest will be wonderful.  If you are rich and you have withheld from your family and the saints, then I would hate to be living 2014 with the thought of, “I have withheld.”

Be good parents and give your children your love.  Use those fishing poles with your children, love them and give them the best and teach them.

Pro 31:26  She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

The mark of a virtuous woman:  the only way that you will be a woman of wisdom is to do it the bible way.  First have faith in God.  2 Peter 1 then add to your faith virtue and then add to virtue wisdom.  She opens her mouth with wisdom.

This scripture is to all the saved.  The only way that we will have wisdom is the bible way: have faith in God, then add virtue, and then add wisdom, wisdom and the law of kindness.

Pro 31:27  She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.

Be a teaching example first and then by mouth.

Pro 31:28  Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

There is nothing better than a little one or an adult having a mother that serves God.

Pro 31:29  Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
Pro 31:30  Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.

Every once in a while you meet someone that thinks that they have such a good personality and everyone ought to see it.  It depends if it is backed up with virtue.

It is a wonderful thing that God has ordained a way that every woman can have something more valuable than they were gifted by birth.  That is the fear of God and virtue.
