Brother Gary Wednesday Night 4/6/16

Brother Gary Wednesday Night 4/6/16

1Ti 1:19  Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:

Holding faith:  Paul told us in the preceding verse, “This charge I commit unto thee son Timothy.”  The relationship between Paul and Timothy was an excellent relationship.  There was love and they were easily entreated.

Paul wrote and said, “Timothy, I am giving you a charge.”  This was really important to Paul and to Timothy.  “This is life, death, and eternity to you and me that we hold faith.”

“Timothy, it is important that you accept this charge according to the prophecies that went before thee.”  There is a thought I want to present on this line, “Timothy there are promises that are prophetic in the Word of God.”

I think of Jeremiah 29:11, I know the thoughts that I think toward you thoughts of peace and not of evil to bring you to an expected end.

Jesus called and said, “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.”  Before He ascended to the Father He gave the instruction, “Go to all the world and preach the gospel.  Heal the sick.  Preach repentance and baptism.”

In the Acts of the Apostles remember how people were getting saved and then they laid hands upon them and they received the infilling of the Holy Spirit of God?

In a world that is warring faith on every line: Gog and Magog have gathered together to make war against the saints.  The Red Horse, the spirit of unbelief is out to destroy every soul possible.

Babylon doesn’t have any faith in God.  They are strictly religious with religious lingo and talk.  It is up to you and me to hold faith.

“That thou mightest by them war a good warfare.”  God has the very best for you, hold faith.  If you have the thought that you want to make this or that change, then hold faith.  Wait on God.  Be still and wait upon the Lord.

Holding faith: the very best is in store for every one that is here.  That is the reason that it is vital that you pray every morning and every night.  It is vital when you come to the House of God as a child that you pay attention and that you learn the songs.

Way back somewhere I learned the song, “Safe am I.”  I have had a tough week and this song came to me as I was having devotions.  We are in perilous times and we don’t know what the future holds.  Holding faith: God has the best instore for us.  Remember this.

Holding a good conscience:  God will not speak to our heart if our conscience is defiled.  If we are not right with God or one another then He will not speak to us.

If you can be mean to your brothers or sisters, and disobedient to your mom and dad, then as a child you can get your conscience defiled and not feel convicted over it.  It won’t be long and God will not be putting anything in your heart.

We have to keep our heart clear with our brothers and sisters in Christ.  We can’t take advantage of them or mistreat them.  We can’t be a respecter of persons.  God doesn’t want me to be a dictator or a tyrant and God doesn’t want you to be rebellious.

God help us to have a good conscience.  Help us to have the attitude, “God I want your Word to come into my heart.”  There are three that bear witness in earth.  I want God to witness to my heart, “This is the way.”  I don’t want someone agreeing with me or feeling sorry for me.

When you don’t hold faith, when you put away faith and you put away a good conscience, then what happens? Shipwreck.  You and I won’t be the exception.  If we put away faith and a good conscience then we will ship wreck.  There are enough wrecked lives without us making ship wreck.

The law of kindness must be in our tongue.  When you think of someone that is shipwrecked, did it affect just one?  No.  It affected the whole ship.

When something is really important then a father will emphasize it.  Gyme knows how to make Gyme Junior and Isaac believe, “You better have this job done.”  When my dad talked in that one certain tone, we knew to listen.

Paul said, “Son I am giving you this charge.”  All the promises in this Word are ours.  Everything that we need is here.  The thing about God is that He is a God that delights in His church.  His desire for you will be the very best for time and the very best for eternity.

There is something that we must do and that is hold faith and a good conscience.

God has given to every man a measure of faith.

Rom 12:3  For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

We have been so gifted to receive a measure of faith.  Think soberly.  God has the best for every soul.  God has taken a vessel that wasn’t all that great, and was all messed up, and God changed that vessel and made that which is of use.  He took a life made ugly by sin and changed it into a beautiful person.

You young boys here: God wants to make the best of men out of you.  Men that will work, have manners, have a backbone, and men that can learn.

You don’t have a learning disability with God.  You might not learn the way that the system is using today, but God has a way of speaking to boys and making men of them, men of character and ambition, men that He can give a vision to.

The story is not over yet.  God is still dealing with souls.  Men that will take a stand against bad jokes.  That will take a stand against immodesty.  God wants you to keep your minds pure.  If someone comes to school with dirty books or dirt on the little machines, don’t you look at it.  It sends people to prison and it sends people to hell.  That is how it is.

You girls, the pressure will be on you to be worldly and to be immodest.  Where are we going?  Grandmas painting their fingernails!

What makes people pretty?  Salvation.  It is beautiful.  There is nothing like a saint dressed modest, their bodies covered, walking with God, and having the Spirit of God in their heart.

You don’t have to be worldly to be pretty.  Shipwrecked.  Think soberly.  “How will this affect me if I do this?  How will it affect me if I go along with this?”

God has given us faith to buy the best from God.  Remember when the virgins ran out of oil?  They went to the others and said, “Give us of your oil.”  The others told them to go and buy.

Faith gives you the best in the heart, in the mind, in fellowship, in enjoyment, in conversation.

Faith to buy the best from God.  Faith to believe.  You and I have to hold faith when we talk to a sinner.  We must have active faith to say, “You can be saved, you can live it today.”  They can live it even if their parents are not saved or if their parents don’t live together.  Even if it is an unhealthy situation that they live in, they can still have faith.

Holding faith and a good conscience:  if you put them away then you will shipwreck.  You will not be the only one on the boat, you will mess up yourself and someone else.

Php 1:6  Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Faith to overcome.  Faith is the victory that overcomes the world.  This is for all of us.  Faith to overcome.
