Son 2:10
My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and
come away.
Son 2:11
For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone;
Son 2:12
The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is
heard in our land;
It is wonderful to know that God the Father loves us. We have heard it since childhood. Perhaps before you could read, you had a
bible given to you and you probably learned John 3:16 before you could read.
I thank God that He sent His only begotten son that
whosoever believes on Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
The Father takes delight in Jesus and Jesus takes delight in
the sons of man. It is wonderful to know
that Jesus delights in His creation. He
delights in every precious soul being saved and saturated with the good
things.
He delights when you feel that need of the soul, not just
the mind, but the need of the soul: “I really need help from God. I really need the presence of God to visit
me, not only to speak to my mind, but I need God to speak to my heart.”
We pray, “God help us to set our affection on you.”
Col 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on
things on the earth.
It is truly Jesus delight when you and I accept the
invitation. He says, “Come away.” Everyone here has a busy life. Maybe you feel that you aren’t productive in
chopping wood or mowing the lawn, I wasn’t able to hold the ladder for Brother
Jim, but everyone is busy.
Everyone’s mind goes at a high rate of speed. The mind gets going so fast, the cares and
opportunities of life or the distresses of life seem to take control of the
mind.
Our mind has the habit forming ability of: the things that
bothered you yesterday will probably bother you again this week sometime. That is part of our battle, it is a part of
overcoming, and it is a part of being taught and trained how to possess our
vessel in sanctification and honor.
It is springtime this morning. What is so wonderful is that God has allowed
us to see spring coming on. Even the children
have been picking flowers. It is
wonderful to know that springtime is here.
It is wonderful to know in the beginning of spring that you and I have
an invitation to come away with Jesus, with God the Father, and with the Holy
Spirit of God.
It is important to realize that the winter is over. There is much to be said about soils. There is much to be said about the soil of
our soul. I know that God has a way of
causing frozen soil to thaw. Your soul
may have capacities that have never been tilled and used, may God help us to
encourage faith in such a way that you can grasp that God didn’t sent His Son
that we could be saved and just barely survive.
That is not the design of God and His Son and the Holy
Spirit. The design is to have that soul
come away with God and have God speak to our soul. It is a challenge to have our mind slow down
and realize that God is speaking to our heart.
After Noah had worshipped, a sweet smelling savor came up
before God. That is the heart-cry of
each one. We want to worship God in such
a way and offer such a clean offering that it would be a sweet smelling savor
to Him.
We can make requests, but there are times when we need to
stop our mind about all the cares around us and stop our minds about all the anxieties. We all have anxieties and cares, no man lives
himself and no man dies to himself.
I want to preach, study, counsel, and pray from my
heart. God make my heart bigger!
I want my heart to come away with God. Don’t you?
I doubt that there is one in this audience whose heart cannot be expanded
or who has no area that has been left unused.
Perhaps it has never been revealed to your heart what God would have in
your heart.
The spring rains have come and undoubtedly we will have more. The winter is over and past; the flowers have
begun to grow.
The desire is that there would be a bud develop with that
which God would desire to have. Before
there can be flowers or fruit there must be the budding process: “I want to
please God so much.”
That mother that can pray: in whose tongue is the law of kindness. Proverbs 31 is a beautiful chapter. I thought of you wives in this congregation
that have older husbands. It is
important to have the law of kindness in your tongue.
The time of the singing of birds is come. Don’t miss spring spiritually. Don’t allow anything to cause your mind to
control where God wants to take your heart and your soul this spring.
Mat 13:1 The same day went Jesus out of the house, and
sat by the sea side.
Mat 13:2
And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went
into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.
Mat 13:3
And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
Mat 13:4
And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way
side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
Mat 13:5
Some fell upon stony places, where they had not
much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of
earth:
Mat 13:6
And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and
because they had no root, they withered away.
Mat 13:7
And some fell among thorns; and the thorns
sprung up, and choked them:
Mat 13:8
But other fell into good ground, and brought
forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
Mat 13:9
Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
This describes the four soils and the Word of God being
sown. The sower is Jesus Christ. He sows the seed of the Word of God. It is spring time. It is seed time.
For everyone in this audience, there is no question in my
mind, the sower has wonderful seed to sow.
He wants to sow the seed of the Word of God into your soul this
springtime.
It is important that we come away with Him and say, “I want
to be prepared for that seed.”
The wayside soil: that soul that life has hardened. There will be some hard places; life is not
fair. The world is not fair. Many times people are not fair with
individuals. We make a choice, “Shall I
let it be that painful or shall I harden my heart.” Not only do we put a shield up against being
hurt, but it causes our soil to become wayside.
Keep tender before God.
The stony soil receives the Word of God. They don’t have root in themselves. When persecutions come and things don’t work
out right then by and by they are offended.
Most of us can identify with the thorny soil, we live in
2016. It receives the Word of God and we
know the feeling of the experience, “Something is trying to choke the Word of
God in my soul.” We need to know how to
receive the Word of God into our heart and our soul.
There are three that bear witness in earth, they know how to
witness to our heart and our soul. When
a soul recognizes the need in their life, they will think they cannot live it
and there will be many things that will try to choke the Word of God. The Word goes past the mind to the heart.
You may have a lot of challenges. It is vital that you find the Word of God for
your challenge. The Word of God comes to
your soul. Trust in the Lord with all
your heart and lean not to your own understanding.
Your mind will discredit what faith will do. Many are rejoicing in heaven this morning
because they met the challenge of what seemed to be heartache and defeat. As they met the challenge, God sent His Word.
In every decision, have God sent His Word to your
heart. Your mind will argue. The world and people will say, “Put it on
paper.” Paper is one thing and Jesus is
another. When Jesus speaks His Word to
your heart, you have something that will be alive and real and last forever.
We all experience the cares of life trying to choke the Word
of God. Karen and I are making decisions
and you are making decisions. We came to
the thought, “We need a witness in our heart of what we should do with this
decision.”
We can put it on paper and look at the facts, but then there
is God. He would have you come away with
Him and position yourself so that God speaks in His heart and then He speaks to
your heart as He did with Noah.
Cares, riches, pleasures, and the lusts of other things entering
in are the thorns.
Where we want to go to this morning is to the good
soil. The good soil is an honest and a
good heart. Our mind will argue with us,
defend us, accuse us, or give us crisis mentality. We live in a world where there are many crises
every minute.
That good and honest heart is before God saying, “God it is
springtime. I want my heart to be ready
to receive the seed of the Word of God.
You want me to bud, blossom and produce for you. That good soil hears the Word of God. When God speaks His Word to your soul, then
you know it is God speaking.
That good and honest heart keeps the Word of God. You have or you will experience it if you
come away with Him. That Word of God will
begin to bud and then soon it will begin to bloom and then it will begin to
bear fruit.
That is the way that the Word of God is.
Luk 24:13 And, behold, two of them went that same day
to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.
Luk 24:14 And they talked together of all these things
which had happened.
Luk 24:15 And it came to pass, that, while they
communed together and reasoned, Jesus
himself drew near, and went with them.
Luk 24:16 But their eyes were holden that they should
not know him.
Luk 24:17 And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have
one to another, as ye walk, and are sad?
Luk 24:18 And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas,
answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not
known the things which are come to pass there in these days?
Luk 24:19 And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus
of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the
people:
Luk 24:20 And how the chief priests and our rulers
delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him.
Luk 24:21 But we trusted that it had been he which
should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since
these things were done.
Luk 24:22 Yea, and certain women also of our company
made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre;
Luk 24:23 And when they found not his body, they came,
saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was
alive.
Luk 24:24 And certain of them which were with us went
to the sepulchre, and found it even so
as the women had said: but him they saw not.
Luk 24:25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets
have spoken:
Luk 24:26 Ought not Christ to
have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
Luk 24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he
expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
It could be that Jesus started in Genesis and told of the
scriptures from there throughout the Old Testament that concerned Him.
Luk 24:28 And they drew nigh unto the village, whither
they went: and he made as though he would have gone further.
Luk 24:29 But they constrained him, saying, Abide with
us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry
with them.
Luk 24:30 And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with
them, he took bread, and blessed it, and
brake, and gave to them.
Luk 24:31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew
him; and he vanished out of their sight.
Luk 24:32 And they said one to another, Did not our
heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened
to us the scriptures?
The seed of the Word is as a fire that burns with in
us. It is true that the fire will burn
whatever in our life that needs to be burned up, but also warms our heart.
Did not our hearts burn within us?
The more I am in the presence of God the more that I want to
be in the presence of God. Our minds
form habits.
Last year before going to see Karen’s aunt, we went to see
her cousins and then to Brother and Sister Chancellor in More, OK. It was so special to me. I had not been three for 30 years.
We drove to the church building. We remembered how the tornado had taken the
fellowship hall and did damage to the building.
The saints here took an offering and sent $1000 dollars down there. But what is that? It was way less than what they needed.
I didn’t think to be recognized for that. I looked forward to seeing the saints. We had such a good time. What made it so special was Jesus, the Word
of God, and the love of the saints. I
saw a few that I know, but most of them were strangers to me.
There are about 30 children in that congregation. The presence of God was such that no one
wanted to go home. The time was so
wonderful that I would like to go back again.
When you are all by yourself coming apart with Him. God can put something in your soul that will
give you an identity with the beauty of the Lord.
This spring God is saying to souls, “Come away with me, my Word
will create a burning desire for the best things of life.” The world cannot give it to you. I believe in education and exercise but they
cannot give it to you.
I love to eat. My
wife is an excellent cook. But it
doesn’t compare with what Jesus is going to offer you. He offers something that will hold you
steadfast in a world where all the foundations are being removed.
In a world that will tell you, “Do this.” You can say, “No, God spoke to me.” The seed
that God sows in your heart first produces a bud. Let God speak His love to your heart. It will produce a warmth there toward
God. And from the seed of His Word a bud
will come. Soon there will be a blossom
and then there will be fruit.
