Brother Gary Sunday Morning Service 3/27/16

Joh 19:30  When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

Mar 15:34  And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

At this time while Jesus was on the Cross, he said to the evangelist John, the apostle, “John, behold thy mother.”  John took Jesus’ mother as his own and took care of her.

After saying, “My God, why hast thou forsaken me, he bowed his head and died.

Joseph of Arimathea begged the body of Jesus.  Pilot gave him permission to take it and he wrapped it in clean linen and placed it in a new tomb.

The stone was placed at the mouth of the tomb.  The religious people went to Pilot and asked to seal the door of the tomb “lest someone stole his body and it be recorded that “He is alive.””

Pilot told them to make it as secure as they could so that that could not happen.

Mat 28:1  In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

The Sabbath ended for the literal Jew at about six o’clock Saturday night.  Jesus arose on Sunday.

Mat 28:2  And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.

I have never seen an angel, I have shook and trembled many times in my life.  I still shake and tremble at times when I preach.  A couple came to me yesterday that are not in any fellowship but they wanted to talk to me, “Where are we headed?  We have left everything that is right as a country, where are we going?”

There are times when we need divine intervention in our life.

The Mary’s came to the tomb, they had experienced an earthquake, the stone was rolled away, and an angel was sitting there.

Mat 28:3  His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:

Mat 28:4  And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.

Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection is a reality, not just something written in a book.  Those that were there to keep the sepulcher and the tomb sealed, when the earthquake came they realized that beyond a shadow of a doubt there is a power that is greater than any power in the earth.

A sealed tomb: individuals in a life of sin can feel that they are trapped.  Sin will trap you.  Sin will imprison you in every way.  It will imprison you in your life.  You will live in regret and feel that there is no hope.  You will feel that you are doomed for unhappiness, failure, and sorrow.

I am happy that as the literal sun arose, so Jesus arose and covers the whole earth every day to give life and hope to those that feel sealed in the tomb of hopeless.

Mat 28:5  And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

Every one of us that is in this audience that have reached an age of maturity understand fear to whatever degree.  This angel said to the women that were seeking after Jesus, “Fear ye not.”

The angel has a message for every one of us.  If we are seeking after Jesus, (for whatever lack there is in every life that is represented here in this thought, including me as a minister, for every need that Karen and I will have between now and the glorious time that Jesus will come and take us away), Jesus is prepared to meet every need.

Thousands of songs have been written by individuals that have known great fear and sought after God and wrote their testimony, “Don’t fear, God will take care of you.”

Mat 28:5  And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

Mat 28:6  He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

Is there anything nicer than an invitation?  “Come see where He was.”  If you have any doubts, you will not find Jesus on the cross.  You will not find Him in a tomb.  You can look but He is not there.

Mat 28:7  And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.

They were instructed to go quickly to tell the disciples.  They began to run with the message.  Isn’t it wonderful to have a message of good tidings?  The angel told them to go and take the message of good tidings that “He is not here; He is risen.”

Mat 28:8  And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.

Mat 28:9  And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.

All Hail:  it is wonderful to meet Jesus and have Him speak to us, “Greetings to friends.”  You might wonder what positions these Mary’s had held.  The one had had a terrible life, literally possessed of devils and He delivered her.

If one has had a terrible life of sin, if they repent and confess and turn from their sins, then Jesus forgives them.

You say, “I have asked God to forgive me of my every sin.”  God is telling you to confess your sin and turn away from your sin.  We have this public altar and I don’t want to know your sin.  You confess to God.  God casts it as far as the east is from the west, an unmeasurable distance.

He takes the sin and buries it in the depths of the sea.  They have never found the depths of the sea.  If there are times in your life when you have a remembrance, “I wish I had not done that.”  When you confess and repent of your sins to God, he is not like people.  He recognizes that sin separates people from God.

Sin is likened to people living in the grave.  You might have sinned against your family, or your boss, or wherever sin might be.  “Whoso knoweth to do good and doeth it not to him it is sin.”

Jesus is very kind when he deals with sin.  (Lamentations 3:23 the mercies of the Lord are renewed every morning.)

If there are sins in your past, unless you have seared your conscience the sins of the past haunt us.  Most of us have the intuition, “If I don’t get this sin taken care of it will meet me at the judgment.”

Jesus deals with sin wonderfully.  He doesn’t condemn us; we are condemned already.  He forgives us.  If He is dealing with you then you want to be forgiven.

One of the soldiers had a spear; he pierced Jesus’ side and a fountain was opened of blood and water that cleanses from all sin.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sin He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sin.

With God all things are possible.  You can be saved, sanctified and serving God.  He did it for me.

You might be here and would like to be saved and sanctified but you feel bound by worldly music or bad language, or something else.  God can deliver you.

These ladies were on an errand and they got interrupted by Jesus.  “All hail:” this means peace.  I wish everyone in America would have the experience of meeting Jesus and feeling peace.  It will happen to you and me if we choose to.

It means good will.  If you feel that the future is not all that bright for you then meet Jesus.  He takes the darkest place and leads people out of it.  He shines light on your pathway.

It means health.  If you are struggling with physical, emotional, mental, attitude, or any other health, He is an expert on health.  If you need a touch in your body, in your mind, in your soul, or in your appetite He can.

He interrupted them when they were busy, “All Hail.”  It means happiness.  God wants you happy on the inside, not just with a pasty face, smiling, “I am happy and just showing it off.”  He wants the joy unspeakable on the inside.

All hail means safety.  Ira Stanfield wrote, “I don’t know about tomorrow.”  You might meet me and say, “I don’t know about today.”

Jesus has gone before us in the difficult times.  Serve God so that you can trust Him.

Jesus said of the children, “Suffer the children to come unto me and forbid them not for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”  “The children’s angels are in heaven always beholding the face of the Father.”

Not just children need safety.  Elders need safety.  We believe children and the elderly should be protected.  Safety.  God wants to be your protection physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

The last meaning of All Hail is to rejoice.

The two Mary’s went to Jesus and took Jesus by the feet.  His feet had been nail scarred.  He had hung one foot above the very earth that He had created.  They took Him by the feet and worshipped Him.

Jesus said to them, “Be not afraid; tell the brethren to meet me in Galilee.”  The cross is bare, the price has been paid for our salvation.

Salvation means deliverance, help, safety, and victory and health.  It is in the divine plan of God for every need to be met.  This tomb that was sealed is empty.

If the devil tells you that you can never be saved, the tomb is empty.  If someone says, you can never be a Christian, the tomb is empty.  If someone says that you can never get through this season of life, the tomb is empty.

This morning the bible teaches us that He is at the right hand of the Father making intercession for us.  He knows where you are and feels it like no one else ever could.

God answers this question.  The unfulfilled part of one’s life can only be filled with Jesus Christ.

Remember the rich man that had about everything and came to Jesus and said, “What lack I yet?”  This morning there are a million people asking the question, “There is something still missing in my life.”

Religious groups are asking the question, “Where is God?  I would like to have God in my fellowship.”

Unless we have Jesus we are always wondering “Where is what I am seeking for?”  He is ready this day to supply every need.
