Brother Bob Sunday School 9/6/15

Brother Bob Sunday School 9/6/15
2Pe 1:17  For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
2Pe 1:18  And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
2Pe 1:19  We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

We are saved by the blood of Jesus, our precious redeemer, and are bought back.  Thank God He inspired the prophets to write that we would have these sure words.

Mat 5:3  Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 5:4  Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Mat 5:5  Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Mat 5:6  Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Mat 5:7  Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Mat 5:8  Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Mat 5:9  Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

The saints are peace makers.  It is God’s will that we go through this life by the grace of God with zero strife on our end.  The Bible teaches us to do good to our enemies.  In another place it tells us to turn the other cheek.  We don’t have to have strife on our end.

The people in this world need to be saved.  They may look on us as their enemy but we need to have no enemies.

Mat 5:10  Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 5:11  Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

We can do it for Christ’s sake.  God can give us a backbone so that we don’t have to retaliate.

Mat 5:12  Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

We are no exception.  We may suffer like they did in the old days even.

Mat 11:6  And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

We don’t want to ever be offended in Jesus, but be all He wants us to be.  His grace is sufficient for us in this life for whatever we face every day.

Mat 13:16  But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

We are not deaf and blind.  The saints can see and hear.

God is our true helper.  It is awesome.  We were not worthy.  We are so thankful that His goodness, mercy, and salvation reached to us.  We were lost and hopeless.

Mat 13:17  For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

The disciples could see physically.  We have the Word of God.  We can see and hear with the Holy Ghost leading us and teaching us in the Word.  We have a “more sure word of prophecy.”

Joh 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Joh 3:17  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

This is a beautiful promise!  There is a danger here.  Jesus didn’t come to condemn the world.  If you go that route, you will offend souls.  It is hard to win a soul that has been offended.  Harder to win than a defensed city.

In love speak the truth.  “I am going to heaven, and you can go too.”  We need to make the way attractive.  Their conscience pricks them often just like mine did when I was lost.  They know they need to be saved and that they need a savior.

We need to make the way attractive.  Not taking away from any truth.  We need to stand not wavering or bending, but in love with charity working through us, we need to stand like a saw log, as Brother Kelly used to say.

Joh 10:9  I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

This is a real promise right here.  The only way to get this salvation is through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Jesus taught repentance just like John the Baptist had taught repentance.

God has everything we need in this life.  By the Spirit of God guiding and directing us we have access to everything that we need.

Act 4:10  Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
Act 4:11  This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
Act 4:12  Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

What a precious savior and redeemer that we have!

Act 4:13  Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
Act 4:14  And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.

God really used them; He can use us too.  We want to be that perfect vessel that He can use.  We want to empty of our self and let God fill us with what He wants.

Stalwart soldiers of the cross:  Counting on Him.  We can.  His grace is sufficient for us.  We can live so that would have no lack.  We can live acceptably in this life, and give an acceptable service.

Mat 1:21  And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

He shall save His people FROM their sins.  It doesn’t say, IN their sins.  By the grace of God and the blood of Jesus we don’t have to be sinners. It is so plain and simple, the bible teaches us that even a fool shall not error therein.

When people get saved, become a new creature in Christ Jesus, we have the Holy Spirit to teach us.  We can understand the Bible.

2Co 5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
2Co 5:18  And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
2Co 5:19  To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
2Co 5:20  Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
2Co 5:21  For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

We are ambassadors for Christ.  We need to represent Him well.

Col 1:21  And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
Col 1:22  In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
Col 1:23  If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

Continue in the faith grounded and settled.  Be not moved away from the Hope of the Gospel.  We need to press on.  We have not attained even as Paul said, “I press to the mark.”  So we must.  We can by the help and grace of God.

The bible makes it clear and it is not hard for the saints.  They like to obey God and His Word.
“Continue in the Faith.”

God says, “MY grace is sufficient.”

Return good for evil.  Love your enemies.

A soft answer turns away wrath.

Take the wood off of the fire and the strife will go out: No sharp and cutting words.  If people don’t agree with us then that is okay.  Not everyone will like us but we need to be careful to not give sharp and cutting retorts back.  Turn the other cheek.

God can help us and He does.  God can help us to say things that are pleasant.  Quote the scripture with love.  We want to win them.  God’s desire for us is zero strife.

Gal 5:22  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23  Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Saints, that is the Spirit that we have.  We have the Spirit of Love and joy.  The Saints are joyful and don’t go around with a long face all the time.  We have the joy and peace in our hearts and souls.  God, through Jesus Christ, gives us peace.

Things can be adverse in the world today.  God is in control.  We can have peace.

The saints are longsuffering.  We don’t just fly off the handle.  Sometimes people will rub us wrong, but the saints are longsuffering and gentle.

Gentleness:  I like to think of longsuffering and gentleness as graciousness.  The saints are gracious.

Goodness:  the saints are full of goodness.  We want to do good all the time.  The saints have faith and are faithful.  The saints are filled with meekness, they have temperance, and don’t get over charged with things.  If we let anything come between us and our service to God then we are in trouble.

This is all good.  This is what God requires of us.  We don’t want to fail Him in any way.

Gal 5:24  And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
Gal 5:25  If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Gal 5:26  Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

These things are for us every day.  We don’t want to cause any division in the brethren.  Do you think that the world now is more wicked than in the day of Noah?  Than in the day of Sodom of Gomorrah?  I don’t think so.  The end time is close.  I want to admonish every one of you.  We need to be ready.
