Brother Gary Wednesday Evening 10/1/14
The pleasure in the service of the Master:
We are blessed to have our own Bible. We are blessed to know that the Bible is
true. The Mormons say that they have taken
the Bible apart and know that it is not true.
They must have missed some scriptures then, the Bible is forever settled
in Heaven. I know it is true.
Psa 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy
presence is fulness of joy; at thy right
hand there are pleasures for evermore.
There is a path of life.
In His presence is fullness of joy.
At His right hand are pleasures forever more.
We are so blessed to be challenged to enjoy serving God. We are blessed to be challenged by the scriptures
and by songs by Brother Warner and by Brother Warren.
I hope that I find some by DO Teasley. I believe that he was a man of great genius,
great intellect, and was mightily used of God.
As great as these men were if they don’t find the pleasure in serving God
then they will backslide. This is what
happened to DO Teasley. We need to keep
our values right and know where our joy comes from. It has to come from God.
I was in a terrible meeting one time and I decided as I flew
home that my experience doesn’t rest on people, but on God. The church of God that I saw in that meeting
is not the church that God built. The church
is just as it was; the head is just the same.
I’m glad that God kept me steady.
I could have been as DO Teasley and walked away and never heard from
again.
Thou wilt show us the path of life. We have to let Him show us. We have to stand in the old ways and
ask. The greatest thing that stands in
our way if our self. If we submit to God
then He is always right.
In thy presence is fullness of joy. We know that no matter what happens tomorrow,
Jesus is going to be the same as He ever was.
Even if our hopes and plans are blown asunder, God is still the same.
The song that we sang, ‘There is a Fountain’, says I will
sing and praise God all my days, and when I’m gone from this life, I will sing
them with a nobler sweeter tongue.
If we find ourselves in a situation where we feel unhappy,
doomed, and hanging with darkness, drab and everything is down. Get a hold of the scripture and begin to
submit to God. Say, God help me to find
the path.
Begin to submit to God, “God I am not going to wear this sadness
the rest of my days. I’m going to be
like the myrtle tree.”
There is a lot more to a myrtle tree than I taught. They are a beautiful tree, beautiful to look
upon, always full of leaves and always blossoming. There are groves of them. If you go into the grove, there is a sweet
aroma and fragrance.
At His right hand are pleasures for ever more.
1Pe 2:9 But ye are
a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people;
that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness
into his marvellous light:
In the millions of people, God had it so that every one of us
here came in contact with someone that knew God. The man that wrote, “Standing
on the Promises”, found the people of God after he got saved; we thank God for
it.
A royal priesthood: this enables us to offer up sacrifices
of praise, prayer, thanksgiving.
Whenever I think of souls in trouble, “There go I but for
the grace of God.” I think of men in
trouble, naturally. If it were not for God
then I would be as bad as or worse than them.
To think that we could have been saved, sanctified and able
to offer up to God sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving and receive back from God
manna and a word fitly spoken that is as apples of gold in pictures of silver.
A tongue that has something alive and real from God! You have to be a royal priesthood to get something
real from God. We have a people that can
get a hold of God and get a song and a good Sunday School lesson from God.
You won’t get anything from Bill Gaither or Collingsworth
family other than soda crackers. You need
to get real food from God.
We are a purchased possessions. We are loved that much. Purchased by one that is holy. He loved us cared for us, sent his only
begotten son that paid the supreme price that all our committed sins could be forgiven.
When we think of what God did for us just in Paradise, we
think of what He did for Brother David in Illinois. Think of what God has done that we should
show forth the praises of Him that have called us out of darkness into His
marvelous light.
1Pe 2:10 Which in time past were not a people, but are
now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained
mercy.
We were not in line to receive anything from God. We were lost gentiles, heathen until we got
saved. Now we have obtained mercy.
1Pe 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly
lusts, which war against the soul;
It applies to you. It
was not written in the bible for just the Irish. It applies to everyone that is here
tonight. Know, “This is where the enemy
would work on me. Abstain from it. There are some things where we must build
good walls and fortifications and keep our body in and our mind in. We must sometimes straighten others out, “No
I cannot do that.”
Abstain from the lusts that war against your soul.
1Pe 2:12 Having your conversation honest among the
Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify
God in the day of visitation.
1Pe 2:13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man
for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
1Pe 2:14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent
by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do
well.
1Pe 2:15 For so is the will of God, that with well
doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
1Pe 2:16 As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as
the servants of God.
Our freedom is that we can submit to God. People that have troubles submitting are
always in a battle. We can submit to God
and His will at all times and in all places.
1Pe 2:17 Honour all men.
Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
1Pe 2:18 Servants, be
subject to your masters with all fear;
not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.
1Pe 2:19 For this is
thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering
wrongfully.
I Love to Serve My Jesus
I love to serve my Jesus, a privilege
so sublime,
My life afresh with beauty bright is sparkling all the time;
Mid scenes that are unfading, of rapture and of bliss,
Transported I am soaring in my Saviors righteousness.
My life afresh with beauty bright is sparkling all the time;
Mid scenes that are unfading, of rapture and of bliss,
Transported I am soaring in my Saviors righteousness.
I love to serve my Jesus the world
I do give up,
I’ll drink with my dear savior from the at bitter, bitter cup;
I know that if I suffer, with him I too shall reign
In life and up in glory bright sweet promise sure I claim.
I’ll drink with my dear savior from the at bitter, bitter cup;
I know that if I suffer, with him I too shall reign
In life and up in glory bright sweet promise sure I claim.
I love to serve my Jesus and lean
upon His arm,
In health or in affliction in the calm or in the storm;
In darkness, clouds, or sunshine, in heat or in the cold,
In poverty or riches, I have peace and joy untold
In health or in affliction in the calm or in the storm;
In darkness, clouds, or sunshine, in heat or in the cold,
In poverty or riches, I have peace and joy untold
I love to serve my Jesus for all
his tender care,
Oh joy! And what a pleasure in this life we all may share;
Oh depth of great compassion! Tis like a mighty flood,
He gave his pledge of love to us and sealed it what his blood

Chorus:
I love to serve my Jesus, He‘s all in all to me;
He helps me bear each burden, He is my victory.
I love to serve my Jesus, He‘s all in all to me;
He helps me bear each burden, He is my victory.
Difficulties will come; they didn’t only come to the writer
of this song. Enjoy the victory when you
have it but the day will come when you will be tried in the furnace of
affliction. If you are not genuine, you
will mope around or open the door to self-pity.
You wake up in the morning this fall season and it is still
dark. You have to turn the light on to
see if it is raining or snowing.
I don’t know about tomorrow, we may be poorer the next day,
but in it all, serving Jesus can be a pleasure.
