Brother Gary Wednesday Evening 10/15/14
The Word of God is so wonderful when it is allowed to have
liberty in our life.
Isa 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of
my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which
I please, and it shall prosper in the thing
whereto I sent it.
God has designed and desires that His Word would go forth
from His mouth and meet the general challenges of the Church of God here and
everywhere else.
There were those that had particular needs in the last week
or two that we have heard of tonight and to each one God sent His Word. The reason that He sent His Word was because
there was some soul waiting on His Word.
Oswald Chambers said that when people won’t take some counsel
of God, God will not give them new counsel until they take what He has already
given them.
God’s Word is designed to go forth and not return void.
We are living day by day and sing the song, “I need thee
every hour.” Karen told me that she was
introduced to a song in her early life, “Moment by moment.” We feel this in everyday life. “We need you today, God.”
As the mother of six children wrote, “I need thee every
hour. There are times when we feel, “Moment
by moment. I am in a situation today
that is critical.” It is not only when
we deal with someone else. The temptations,
the trials, the accusations, and the mind battle can be moment by moment, “God
help me get through these things and put a period at the end and it stop.”
God’s word will accomplish what He pleases. If we will take His counsel then it will
accomplish what He sent it to. One way
that He knows that His word is being received: if we take the counsel and then
turn around and give Him praise
Isa 55:12 For ye shall go out with joy, and be led
forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into
singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their
hands.
There are times when we may have in our mind a different
answer than God sends. We have learned, “God’s
way is best.” We take exactly what God
sends, know it is right and rejoice in it.
Led forth with peace:
Isn’t it wonderful to not always be in turmoil? Sister Dorothy has expressed and Brother Jack
has told me over and over again how wonderful it is to be away from all that
strife and competition.
We have a wonderful shepherd. He leads us forth into green pastures. Some of us think, “I cannot accomplish what I
used to.” That doesn’t mean that there
is not a pasture for us. “God help me to
be led into the green pasture where I can be renewed and accomplish things for
You.”
I thought this week about the myrtle tree and the beauty of
a myrtle tree. There is nothing so beautiful
as a life that has been changed by bible salvation, that has spiritual life. There is nothing so beautiful as a life that
has, “I am satisfied in Jesus Christ, I have a peace, a joy, a clear
conscience.”
Isn’t it wonderful to have direction from God in our life,
to be in the house of God, to know, “I have a burden for this soul, help me to
know how to reach them.”
God gave Isaiah the prophecy that we read about the Gospel
Day. This prophesy that God gave to Amos
is also a reality in the Gospel Day. Sad
but true there are people in our region that would actually be in this condition.
Amo 8:11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD,
that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for
water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
The saddest thing that can transpire in a life is for that
life to reject the counsel of God, walk behind light, and go into darkness.
We already know, “If the light becomes darkness, how great
is that darkness!” I think it was Jude
that referred to the ‘blackness of darkness’.
Amo 8:12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and
from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of
the LORD, and shall not find it.
In the Hebrew dictionary that I looked at ‘they wander’
means that they are vagabonds. They are
bums. It is a terrible thing to not have
any fruit, or spiritual life within us. It
means up and down. When individuals lose
the Word of God out of their life they go first down then up or first up then
down. There is no root.
It means they are seeking the Word of the Lord but they are
not finding it because they already rejected it. That is so sad. Brother Ferguson one time told me, “Brother
Kelly, when anyone leaves God, I believe that they have to go to the issue
right where they left Him and get it right in order to get back.”
In the life of Jacob, he did wrong and then he met God on
the hillside and wrestled with God and the angel there. Many years later God brought him right back
to that same place. What God speaks to
me, I want to hear. I don’t want to put it
on the shelf for a more convenient time.
Or take the attitude, “oh well.”
It means no labor. The
design of God is that the fibers of our heart be so knit with each other that
we are laborers together. When one
rejoices we all rejoice and when one is burdened we all carry it.
Gospel wandering:
Jud 1:8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise
dominion, and speak evil of dignities.
Jud 1:10 But these speak evil of those things which
they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things
they corrupt themselves.
Jud 1:11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way
of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in
the gainsaying of Core.
Jud 1:12 These are spots in your feasts of charity,
when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds;
trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the
roots;
Jud 1:13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their
own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for
ever.
Wandering stars: one thing about God is that He really gives
direction. I remember before I got saved:
the Word of God was very strong to me that I needed to repent and become a new
creature. It wasn’t long after that before
God spoke to my heart, “Seek those things that are above.” It wasn’t long after that that He spoke to me
that I needed to be sanctified.
He deals with certainty and not uncertainty.
Wanderers are always looking for the utopia and never
finding it. Always wandering, “We’ll try
this. We’ll try that. We’ll go here. We’ll go there.”
A Catholic man told me, “All the priest is talking about is
money.” I said, “That is sad, people need
more than that. God’s ministers preach
what they need from God most and that is grace.” He said, “What is grace?” I could not believe that he didn’t know.
From what I know of him, he wanders and wanders. He wants to come to church sometime and bring
a friend. What is grace? It is sad to be a wanderer. Nothing satisfies like the truth of God’s Word.
If tomorrow I can wake up and He speaks His Word to me, I
will be satisfied.
Imposers: There is
something about wanderers that they are wanting to get something that is not theirs. The saints are marvelous people. If someone comes in, there is something in your
heart that you want to reach out your hand in fellowship and have them to
dinner. There are strange wanderers that
are grasping for something that we cannot give them.
Deceivers misleaders, seducers.
Jude’s inspirational epistle to the sanctified:
Jud 1:1 Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and
brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved
in Jesus Christ, and called:
Jud 1:2 Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be
multiplied.
Jud 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on
your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
Jud 1:21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking
for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
Isn’t it something when you know that someone really cares
for you? Jude really cared. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the
Word of God. We are all challenged to pray
in the Holy Ghost.
I have on my prayer request list, “Sunday morning revival.” I am praying that there be real conviction here. That God will help you and me to have such a
burden for souls that in confidence the Sunday school lessons, the songs, the
choir, and special singing will be such that souls will be prepared. Even tonight the souls that we hope will be
here Sunday morning that the power of the Holy Ghost will begin working in their
life.
Jud 1:22 And of some have compassion, making a
difference:
Jud 1:23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment
spotted by the flesh.
Have compassion on souls, not in the thought of leaving them
where they are. When there is sin in their
life, when their garments are spotted:
garments cannot be spotted by the flesh long until they lose their
relationship with God.
Jud 1:24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from
falling, and to present you faultless
before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
We don’t want to lose our way or become a wanderer.
DO Teasley wrote the song, “I believe Jesus saves.” His testimony is that he allowed something to
come between Him and God.
There may be situations that place you where you feel, “I
almost feel like the song that “I need thee moment by moment.” The situation makes me feel that I am walking
a tight rope.” We will be in situations
like that in our life. He is able to
present you faultless. You can handle
situations like that with a right attitude.
Jud 1:25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both
now and ever. Amen.
