Brother Gary Sunday Evening 9/29/13
We live in a world that is ever changing and it is so
wonderful that the truth never changes.
Religions may change to make themselves more acceptable to mainstream people,
but truth never changes.
Psa 89:1 Maschil of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will
sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy
faithfulness to all generations.
God is faithful.
Singing of his mercy is a good way to bring ourselves into a good
attitude and an attitude of worship. We
consider the faithfulness of God in what He created. The sun, the moon, the stars and the heavens
that we see, or don’t see but know is out there, He keeps in align and it works
just right. God is so faithful to
witness to our heart of His faithfulness.
Psa 89:2 For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for
ever: thy faithfulness shalt thou establish in the very heavens.
Psa 89:3 I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have
sworn unto David my servant,
Psa 89:4 Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build
up thy throne to all generations. Selah.
In the greatness of God, God ordained that Jesus Christ be
of the lineage of David and from that lineage His church would be established
and as the Bible says, His throne would be to all generations. Even though we have learned some things in
life we are well aware that there is a lot that we don’t know.
God established His throne with David. In the Old Testament the Children of Israel
had times of prosperity when they served God.
When they left God they had some heartbreaking times.
David gave of his wealth to build the temple. As wonderful as Solomon’s temple was and the
glory and worship of God that rested there, the wisdom that was given to
Solomon, and his good years of reigning, that all went sour one might say, yet
God was faithful.
God has been faithful to every generation. Tonight everyone that is here, thank God for
the children and God will be faithful to them, but everyone that is here that
is of mature age has some real concerns for souls. We understand that unless men and women
really get saved, they will be lost forever.
We realize that we are not the first people that have ever
been faced with these challenges. Not everyone
that came to truth stayed with truth. I
believe that only eternity will reveal all the good times there have been for
the church since it was established in AD 33.
There have been also times of devastation when it looked very
black. But there was always someone that
held onto God.
There may have been things this last year that left your
heart broken. There may be things in the
natural that are disappointing, but God’s love never changes.
Psa 89:5 And the heavens shall praise thy wonders, O
LORD: thy faithfulness also in the congregation of the saints.
Psa 89:6 For who in the heaven can be compared unto
the LORD? who among the sons of the
mighty can be likened unto the LORD?
There is no one that can be compared to God. We are human and we need God. I’ve always needed God but I need Him more
today than ever before. As the brother
brought out, we haven’t attained we are still challenged to go forward.
Psa 89:7 God is greatly to be feared in the assembly
of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them
that are about him.
When we approach God in prayer, it is really a reverent
thing. What would it be like to be able
to talk to our dad? Even though our
earthly parents pass off the scene of action and they sometimes leave without
saying goodbye not because they wanted to, but that just happens. We have a heavenly Father that is faithful
and will always be right by. He is
faithful.
Psa 89:8 O LORD God of hosts, who is a strong LORD like unto thee? or to thy
faithfulness round about thee?
Psa 89:9 Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the
waves thereof arise, thou stillest them.
When I first started studying the thought of the disquieted
soul, I came to the thought of roaring. At
first, I couldn’t grasp the thought of a soul roaring. As I have studied and thought and worked
through this and seen and thought of individuals I understand that there are
people whose soul knows no peace. It is
always upset and as a very turbulent ocean, the waves are raging, always coming
up or going down. God alone can speak
the Word and calm the sea and calm the storm.
Psa 89:10 Thou hast broken Rahab in pieces, as one that
is slain; thou hast scattered thine enemies with thy strong arm.
Psa 89:11 The heavens are
thine, the earth also is thine: as for the world and the fulness thereof, thou
hast founded them.
We can trust God’s mighty arm, we can trust the strength and
the right hand of God.
Aren’t you glad that God knows justice? There is little justice in the world but God
dwells with justice. He has been so just
to us. As much measuring as we needed
when we got saved, as much learning and training, and as ignorant as we were
about so many things, He saved us, forgave us and cleansed us.
God doesn’t hold something against us because we are ignorant. People think that we ought to be able to read
their mind. God is not that way. When He has something to tell us, not in the
thought of condemning, He says, “Son or daughter, you must step up higher. In
order to step higher you must lay aside some things.”
God sits right there as a refiner of gold and silver with a
hot fire. He cleanses us as the dross
comes up. He is so just.
There is something wonderful about you and I doing right in
every situation. When you call a sinner and say “I’m sorry.” It is not always easy to do. We hold a high profession. We believe in being Spirit lead and walking
in the light. When God puts His finger
on something and says, “This is what you have to do to clear this up.” Sometimes it is tough.
There is something about God dealing with us, when we let
His judgment come upon us and we do what is right then His justice takes care
of a lot of things. If we don’t then…, I
want to see souls saved. I didn’t want
anything between me and this man or between him and some other
congregation. We have to be clear.
Whatever it takes for me to be clear, I have to do. I had to be very vulnerable. Sometimes we are very self-protecting. When there is something that has to be worked
though you and I have to be the individuals that say, “I will take
accountability and I am going to be humble and work through this.”
It is vital that we know how things are going to be if we
are responsible. You need to have enough
God to identify if something is strange out there. You parents are accountable for your
children.
Psa 89:12 The north and the south thou hast created
them: Tabor and Hermon shall rejoice in thy name.
It is wonderful how the compass is. It always points north and south. It is wonderful that we can always have
direction. It is good to rehearse over
and over again. We want to do everything
that we can to help people to know how to get to heaven.
Psa 89:13 Thou hast a mighty arm: strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand.
Psa 89:14 Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth
shall go before thy face.
Psa 89:15 Blessed is
the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of
thy countenance.
Isn’t it wonderful to know when God is speaking to you? Isn’t it wonderful for someone to have an
exhortation that comes from someone who’s been on their knees? When you feel a song, you really sing it.
His eye is on the sparrow is a song that a beautiful young
lady sang beautifully. There was an old
man that was called to the platform and sang the exact same song without
embarrassment. When the judges said who
had the best hymn, it was the old man that could not sing all that well. When someone said, “I cannot believe that you
won.” He said, “She sang from talent, I
wrote the song.”
When God gives you a song, you can sing, when God gives you
an exhortation, you can bring it. When
God gives a pastor a message, he can preach it.
Psa 89:16 In thy name shall they rejoice all the day:
and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted.
Psa 89:17 For thou art
the glory of their strength: and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted.
