Brother Gary Sunday Morning 6/9/13
1Jn 2:20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and
ye know all things.
The longer you serve Him, the sweeter He grows. The more that you serve Him the more He opens
His Word. He has a design to open things
up at the right time for the situation that we find ourselves in.
This message is good for all of us. It is good for Karen and I and it is good for
all that have had losses. This message
was written for little children.
If there are any in our midst that would be proud and
haughty and self sufficient, they will get nothing from this message.
This message is for those that realize their need of God,
what they have come from and what they have come to or are coming to. This message is for every one of us.
I need, I desire, I hunger for and have received to whatever
degree the unction from the Holy Ghost.
This scripture comes from a word that only appears one time
in the New Testament, ‘unction.’ It
means a special endowment of the Holy Spirit.
An unction: you will notice this scripture was written for a special
need.
All of you even the children in this audience have read 1
John however many times.
1Jn 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we
keep his commandments.
It has been this way that people have a tendency to take
some of the gospel and not take other parts.
We need an unction, a special endowment of the Holy Spirit, upon us that
we are going to be obedient to the Word of God at all times and all places.
Without an endowment of the Holy Spirit of God the enemy
will come in and destruct us and move us away from the Holy Spirit of God. There are many that have allowed him to
destruct them from being the church of God.
I am too old to mess up, to ever allow some spirit to get a hold
of me, to be laodicean, lethargic, or indifferent. If you are ever seduced then you don’t know
what might happen. You may even have the
idea that you really are someone. I want
to ever be as a little child.
1Jn 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as
ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists;
whereby we know that it is the last time.
It is the last time today.
The thing that has boggled many individuals is that they are looking for
some antichrist somewhere out there.
This scripture tells us that there are many antichrists.
Denying Jesus is not having Him in His rightful place, first
in our lives. He must be first in our
lives before He can be first in our homes and in the church.
1Jn 2:19 They went out from us, but they were not of
us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt
have continued with us: but they went out,
that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
We are in perilous times.
It is strength reducing. The
enemy has a design to reduce little children’s strength, the saints of God’s
strength so that in the perilous times they are caught by seducing spirits.
They went out that they might be made manifest that they were
not all of us.
We need an unction so that we stay rightly related first to
Christ, the God head, and to one another.
If you ever begin to put the magnifying glass on me or someone else, remember
it always belongs on us as an individual.
There is a strong spirit to try to find the weakness of an individual
and magnify their weakness and then to draw followers after another
individual.
Why do we need an unction today? There are many voices in the world today that
are crying out everywhere. Some are
visible and others are invisible such as the thoughts that come to our
mind: “Is this really necessary? Why
cannot we do this?” It will only lead you away from God.
1Jn 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try
the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out
into the world.
This was written by an elderly man, he was an apostle, an
evangelist, and was among the first called by Jesus. He wrote this from a heart of care and
concern, “beloved”, what a beautiful word.
Without an unction of the Holy Spirit of God the enemy of
our soul will disguise himself and present in such a way that will appeal to
the personality, the flesh, and the individual.
This is not all about the flesh but about serving God in spirit and in
truth.
The unction is a special endowment of the Holy Spirit. We need that endowment this morning. When this congregation was started the goal
was that this would be a true work for God to the end. This is a torch that is not passed on to one
but to everyone that is saved.
Be true, be saved, be sanctified and receive that unction of
the Holy Spirit of God.
It is such a time of confusion. What adds to the confusion is that we live in
a day of much communication. Make sure
that you have an unction of the Holy Spirit so that you don’t get confused by
the communication.
I just got back from a place where ‘Faith and Victory’ has a
strong hold. What is going on in that
church of God, camp of wars and rumors of wars, boggle your mind. That is not the only place of confusion. There are wars and rumors of wars
everywhere.
That could happen here if we don’t keep the unction of the
Holy Spirit in our lives. The need of
unction is to keep a vision. We must
have a vision from God. We must have a
vision of the Word of God in action.
Mat 5:13 Ye are the salt of
the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted?
it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under
foot of men.
It is unknown the value of all the good things of salt. Jesus said to His disciples, every one that
is saved this morning is His disciple, that ‘Ye are the salt of the earth.”
What God wants you to be is the salt of the earth. Salt is a cleanser. First it works to cleanse us and then where
ever you are, it works to cleanse your life and standard, the way you dress and
act, the way you behave yourself. Then
secondly, the communication that you have works to cleanse the atmosphere about
you.
Salt is a balance.
Your life would be as a Ferris wheel, the testimony of, “I’m sometimes
up and I’m sometimes down.” We need a just
balance in our lives, in our desires, in our work, in our play.
I don’t think this is the case here but you need a balance
in how often you go to your neighbors.
You go too much and they will get tired of you. If you never come then they get lonely for
you.
In Paradise on Sunday we don’t sing 4 to 6 congregation
songs, the choir doesn’t sing until noon and then I rush through a
message.
We preach here and then we walk the life out there. There has to be a balance.
Salt has taste. There
is something about the taste that we leave in people’s mouth, a feeling for what
it is like to be saved and to be church of God.
I’m here and God is here, God has ordained that we have an experience
with Him so that anyone that is saved, no matter what camp they come from, they
will sense the Spirit of God. No matter
what place I walk into if God is there then I sense that He is there.
We leave a testimony at home and as we go out to the
world. It needs to be a taste that we
have something really good. We have the
assurance that God always comes through.
I understand financial difficulty, family difficulty, burdens,
disappointments, but God will come through.
We have a God in heaven that wants us to be happy in our
soul. What makes us happy is the grace
of God, the peace of God, and the joy of the Lord in our soul.
Salt is a marvelous preserver. It has been used to preserve meats. The world will do its best to get you to
change but we serve a God that can cause us to have enough salt that we can be
happy 365/24/7
We have a city that is set upon a hill.
God wants you and me to be that city. He wants our light to shine and us be
happy. If you are heartbroken and
disappointed God wants to heal your heart.
We want to have enough light in our life that we are a city set upon a
hill and know where we came from and are going to and that we have a bible that
is full of promises.
The source of an endowment of the Holy Spirit:
John was there at the day of Pentecost. The Holy Spirit came and John saw an
outpouring of the Hoy Spirit of God.
Acts wrote that this promise is still a promise to the church today.
Act 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said
unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and
brethren, what shall we do?
When God comes close and pricks your heart, you realize that
you have some measuring up to do. I
hunger and thirst after righteousness, I have not arrived but am growing. I want to keep growing and if I live to be as
old as John I want to be one to come here and say, draw near to God and stay
true to God. Keep drawing close to God.
Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be
baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of
sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
That is the way that it has to be. If we lose the reality of salvation and
repentance…, Babylon doesn’t teach repentance.
There is no salvation without repentance and confessing your sin and
being made a new creature.
We went to the Blackfoot nation and the guy prayed, some things
I did not understand, yet the natives need to know about Jesus. Those that have never heard about God and have
spent a whole lifetime need to know about Jesus. Sometimes we need to get a new vision.
Act 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your
children, and to all that are afar off, even
as many as the Lord our God shall call.
Repent and be baptized.
That is the message.
Act 2:40 And with many other words did he testify and
exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
1Jn 1:4 And these things write we unto you, that your
joy may be full.
This elderly brother said, “I’m writing this so that your
joy may be full.” God give me a heart
like that that as I look at these children and young people, I desire that
their joy may be full. I’ve seen what
this world does to people. They mark up
their body and have fishing equipment hanging from their ears.
More than that, it is a heart condition. There are some things that when you throw
away and go against principals it may take a lifetime to ever get back. I want the children and young people to know
how to really have joy. Disney World is
just having a little fun. Joy is a stage
that we live in.
God ordained that we have joy, peace, and grace. He said, walk in the light so that we can
have fellowship.
1Jn 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the
light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his
Son cleanseth us from all sin.
John began to name all of us. He named us, and listen to hear your name,
“Little Children.”
He named us fathers, young men, and then he put the fathers
and the young men together. AD 90 and oh
the unction that is needed and an unction that is received!
The taxation of life in 2013 will leave you hoping that
someway somehow you will make it through.
God has a better plan. You can
have an unction, a special endowment of the Holy Spirit. You and God know your needs. We have a public altar and pews to pray by
and plenty of time to pray. As much as I
like to eat, I would rather pray with souls than eat and I mean that.
If God has spoken to you and you realize that you have needs,
I encourage you to step out and say, “I am going to get those needs met.” Not only is your soul at stake, but the soul
of those that you have influence over.
