2Ti 3:1 This know also, that in the last days
perilous times shall come.
It is not always nice to think about these things but this
is the warning side of it. There is
another side, a side of victory and strength.
Psa 84:11 For the LORD God is
a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk
uprightly.
Psa 84:12 O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.
‘Perilous times’ contains the thought of reducing strength. The enemy works to get us to give up to the
point where we are destroyed.
Heb 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and
scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
Chasten is to educate.
We want to be educated.
For a person of every age the difference is that the young may
start with more energy but when each reaches zero energy then it is zero for
everyone. Age affects the recovery
time. Food equals fuel and it is
important that we get good fuel in our body for our emotional man, our mental
man and also our spiritual man.
We never want to reach zero spiritually. The only difference between the natural man
and the spiritual man is that we never have to reach zero spiritually. We need to be refreshed. We get refreshed by having devotions and
being in the house of God.
Processed foods, high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenised
oils are what you should not eat, you should spit them out. These foods weaken the arteries and where
ever a weak spot is the body tries to heal it by adding layers. They can actually take the temperature of the
inside of the artery and where it has been injured, it has a fever. It is damaged.
HDL and LDL are two kinds of fat. The hard fat will clean out the soft fats,
like butter, that will build up. It is
pretty hard to go backwards on some of the buildup but it is important that we
eat right. Good foods do good
things.
When I eat right then I do better spiritually and everything
in my life is better. We try to separate
the spiritual man and the physical man and I don’t think that you can do
that. Being chastised is also for our
physical help.
The perilous times affect us in many ways. Even in the food that we eat. When I have rested and have taken care of
myself then I am even much better with my children.
How are we doing with our food spiritually? Are we eating pure food? It is always about the principle. The principle of what we are teaching is
always right and always produces the same thing. The Bible teaches what is right for raising
every child.
Eating good is a right principle. I am convinced of that. We are to take care of the temple which is our
body. We need to do everything in our
power to take care of the physical man so we can be what we should spiritually.
The drug companies want to sell you statin to lower your cholesterol. Yet cholesterol is important to the vital
processes in your body. You take a drug
to reduce the cholesterol and it causes your level to look great but all the
vital processes in your body are not working right.
We need to take care of ourselves. Drugs are not the answer.
Start now taking care of your body and start now taking care
of your spiritual man. I wish I had
started younger. Start now. Part of our job is to teach the next
generation. Hopefully they don’t have to
reinvent the wheel.
Processed foods are convenient. So is a short devotional. It takes time to have good devotions and to
get something from your devotions.
If you go somewhere and someone made a nice cake then you
should enjoy it. There is no manual for
every child. No one can tell you how to
be healthy. It is not for me to tell
you. What I cannot eat, maybe you
can. Food equals fuel and like a good
engine what you put in your body affects the performance.
2Ti 3:1 This know also, that in the last days
perilous times shall come.
This is not in the future; it is our day. Perilous means furious, fierce…
Mat 11:12 And from the days of
John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the
violent take it by force.
We will be pressed and we must press back. We need strength to press back.
2Ti 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves,
covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful,
unholy,
There are too many examples of those that are selfish. Everything is all about them. We need to make sure that it is not all about
us all the time. When we give into self
it multiplies, fond of self, lovers of their own selves.
Covetous means fond of money, fond of things. These things are weakening to us. They will weaken us spiritually. It is not wrong to have money, a savings
account, or a retirement plan. We must
have the right balance.
Make sure you don’t just live for things and for the
moment. There are a lot of ways to be
covetous.
Braggers and boasters:
Jas 4:1 From whence come
wars and fightings among you? come they
not hence, even of your lusts that war
in your members?
Jas 4:2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to
have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
Jas 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask
amiss, that ye may consume it upon your
lusts.
Jas 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not
that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will
be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
Jas 4:5 Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain,
The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
Jas 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith,
God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
Jas 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist
the devil, and he will flee from you.
Jas 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to
you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double
minded.
Jas 4:9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your
laughter be turned to mourning, and your
joy to heaviness.
Jas 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord,
and he shall lift you up.
Jas 4:11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He
that speaketh evil of his brother, and
judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou
judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
Jas 4:12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to save
and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?
Jas 4:13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow
we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and
get gain:
Jas 4:14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth
for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
Jas 4:15 For that ye ought
to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
Jas 4:16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all
such rejoicing is evil.
Jas 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and
doeth it not, to him it is sin.
Boasting and bragging is evil. We need to be aligned with what God wants us
to do.
Psa 10:3 For the wicked boasteth of his heart's
desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom
the LORD abhorreth.
Proud – that thing that would want to appear above
others. Haughty, proud, that is an ugly
thing.
Excelling and being proud are two separate things. Being bad at something does not mean that you
are not proud. You can be your best.
My wife is a very hard worker. She was working hard on a correspondence
class and had an A. I asked her why are
you so stressed? She said, “I have
always done my best my whole life why should I change now?” Some people don’t like it when you excel but
that doesn’t mean that you are proud.
God resists the proud.
That helps us to divide from doing our best or being proud if we feel a resistance
from God then he is chastising us and saying, “No don’t be proud.”
Being proud means that we don’t submit ourselves to God and
His Word. If He shows us something and
we resist then we are proud.
Pro 6:16 These six things
doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an
abomination unto him:
Pro 6:17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that
shed innocent blood,
Pro 6:18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations,
feet that be swift in running to mischief,
Pro 6:19 A false witness that
speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
Blasphemers: those
that would talk against God. Those that
resist.
Disobedient: stubborn
or willfully disobedient.
Unthankful and thankless:
It is excellent to be thankful.
Being thankful is a source of strength.
Unthankfulness is strength reducing.
When things don’t go how we want, we still have a lot to be thankful
for.
Unholy: wicked. There is a lot of wickedness around us these
days. My children want to know if it is
ok to be friends with this one or that and I instruct them that as long as you
are the influencer and not the influencee.
If you are the one being influenced by them then it is probably not a
profitable friendship.
Lovers of their own selves:
Adam Clark on 2 Timothy 3:
Lovers of
their own selves - Φιλαυτοι· Selfish, studious of their own interest, and
regardless of the welfare of all mankind.
Covetous - Φιλαργυροι· Lovers of money, because of the influence which
riches can procure.
Boasters - Αλαζονες· Vain glorious: self-assuming; valuing themselves
beyond all others.
Proud - Ὑπερηφανοι· Airy, light, trifling persons; those who love to
make a show - who are all outside; from ὑπερ, above, and φαινω, to show.
Blasphemers - Βλασφημοι· Those who speak impiously of God and sacred
things, and injuriously of men.
Disobedient to parents - Γονευσιν απειθεις·
Headstrong children, whom their parents cannot persuade.
Unthankful - Αχαριστοι· Persons without grace, or gracefulness; who
think they have a right to the services of all men, yet feel no obligation, and
consequently no gratitude.
Unholy - Ανοσιοι· Without piety; having no heart reverence for
God.
All of this is self.
