Brother Gary Sunday Morning 5/12/13

Brother Gary Sunday Morning 5/12/13
Heb 11:23  By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king's commandment.

Moses is mentioned in the “Faith Chapter” and rightfully so.  Those that have made a bible timeline tell us that Moses was born about 1400 years before the birth of Christ.

The reason that Moses comes into the scripture so strong is that the Children of Israel had gone into Egypt however many years before for food.  As long as Joseph lived they were treated well.  God caused the king to have a respect for Joseph and the children of Israel.

A new king came into the throne that did not know Joseph and things began to take a change.  This new king became very uncomfortable with the Children of Israel.  He made their life difficult.  He was very demanding and made their life rigorous.  He increased their workload and filled their lives with bondages.

This still was not enough to satisfy him and he became worried because the Children of Israel were increasing in number.  He made a decree.

Exo 2:1  And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi.
Exo 2:2  And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.
Exo 2:3  And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river's brink.
Exo 2:4  And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.
Exo 2:5  And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river's side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.
Exo 2:6  And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews' children.
Exo 2:7  Then said his sister to Pharaoh's daughter, Shall I go and call to thee a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for thee?
Exo 2:8  And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, Go. And the maid went and called the child's mother.

Moses’ sister Miriam is mentioned here.  Jochebed was the mother, Amram was the father, and there were three children.  Miriam is thought to have been five years old when this happened.  This little girl knew responsibility.  Aaron was three and Moses was three months old at this time.

These instances of Moses life are worth knowing and help us know how to build a safe ark for our children, grandchildren, or great grandchildren:

A very earnest and good prayer would be to pray for your children first that you would know how to build a safe ark for them.  We wouldn’t end it there but we would want every child to have a safe ark planned by God.

Moses’ parents knew the true God.  There are a lot of gods of the world that are out there and they speak to every one of us.  They talk louder and more than the True God.  The True God has left us the 66 books of the Bible and you can pick it up at any time and read His word.

Moses and his family lived in a difficult time in history and lived in the land of Egypt where the true God was not worshipped.  God was still God.  When it came time for Moses to be born, God added a son in a difficult time.

I am so happy that Moses’ parents loved this son.  We are happy for every parent and child that is in this audience this morning.  We are happy for the attitude that God has for every child.  The parents had this son and they knew that God had a plan for his life.

We read where they knew that he was a proper and goodly child.  As I read that scripture I had several thoughts, there is nothing like the eyes of a God fearing mother or father when they look upon their child.  They recognize that “I have been blessed with this treasure that comes from eternity, will have time in this time world, and will go to eternity.”

God has ordained the marvelous pan of parents, grandparents, and great grandparents.  Some of you had the privilege of having your parents, your grandparents, and your great grandparents pray for you.  If you never had this privilege then know that before Jesus went to the cross He prayed for you.

These parents knew that God had a plan for Moses’ life.  I doubt they knew that he would be the deliverer but they recognized that God had a plan for this boy’s life.  For our children, our grandchildren and for all the children of the world God has a plan for their life.

“Lord, give me a vision.  Oh help me to see.”  For every individual in the world God has a plan for their life and a plan to make every life beautiful.  He specializes in forgiving the past and setting it as far as the east is from the west and letting every individual start new.

God had a plan.  Jochebed built an ark.  I’ve heard much preaching of this ark and the flags that it was built of and the pitch within and without and the slime.  I firmly believe that this ark was built just the way that God ordained for it to be built.

For every life we must have both the Word and the Spirit of God.  Sometimes people get lopsided one way or another.  One may say, “I don’t think that we need the Bible, I just go by the spirit.”  There is a reason that we need the Bible and we cannot just take the Bible without the spirit either.  There is a balance.  The Word, the Spirit, and the Blood:  The three agree in one.

Many times we have the theory down so we know it perfectly but fail at practicing what we preach.  May God stir me and this audience, it is not only important to know the theory but to practice what we preach.

I asked this audience a while back how big a baby’s heart was.  I found out that a babies heart is about the size of his fist.  Whatever the size of the fist is that is the size of the heart.  A baby has a little heart.  It is not as big as my fist but it is as big as his/her fist.

Moms and Dads I used to think that I knew everything about raising children but life has taught me that I didn’t know anything.  God can help you that you can build an ark for just the size that your child’s heart is.

Jochebed built the ark and put slime and pitch on the inside and on the outside.  Moses needed protection.  The little children are covered by the atonement until they reach the age of accountability, but they need protection.

The tender loving care of that mother!  I would say that Amram worked with a heavy heart that day.  There are many of us that have worked with a heavy heart.  We had a child that was needy.

Can you see that little girl that watched on the brink of the river?  Can you see the royalty of the king’s daughter as she walked with her maidens?  As she walked she spotted something and was curious?  She asked one of her maidens to go get that.  That was an ark.

Jochebed had put a lid on that ark and when she opened that ark Moses was weeping at three months old.  God ordained that Moses was weeping.  When the king’s daughter looked upon that little Hebrew baby weeping, compassion gripped her.

She didn’t know the true God but the True God is the only God of compassion.  God gave her compassion for that child.  I don’t know the time between her finding the baby and Miriam showing up.  You can look in Clark it is a very interesting reading.

Miriam showed up and said, “Shall I go find a nurse?”  The King’s daughter said, “Go.”  Can you imagine the heartbeat of that little girl as she ran to tell her mother?  Can you grasp the faith of Jochebed as she held on for a miracle?

Don’t tell me that your family is perfect.  Even if you feel it is perfect you need a miracle either inside or outside your family.  Jochebed had faith, her daughter watched, Amram worked, but God was on the throne.

Miriam ran and told her mother, “Come.”  Can you imagine Jochebed facing the king’s daughter whose father said have all the babies killed?  Pharaoh’s daughter said, “I will give you wages to nurse this child.”  Moses was back with his mother.

By faith they hid him three months.  God gave this mother a plan.  Mothers, if you have come to that place that brother Gyme taught us about this morning, if you have reached the place of zero where you just don’t know what to do.  Your face as Hezekiah is up against the wall.  It might not be just with a child.  We have a lot of things in our life.  This account is of a child but it will work everywhere.

When you are at the place where you don’t know what else to do, then say, “God you gave Jochebed a plan and you are no respecter of persons.  Will you give me a plan?”

Whatsoever you ask, ask in faith nothing wavering.

God gave this mother a plan.  It was not one of using what she didn’t have but of using what she did have.  A place of safety can be built in these times for our children.

Mat 7:24  Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
Mat 7:25  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

It is challenging; every one of us is leaving footprints to follow.  We are leaving impressions on lives.  Jesus backs this up by telling us, “Whosoever hears these sayings of mine and doeth them.”  It is not enough to just read the Bible; we must obey.

It is not enough to just tell a child that you love them but that touch, that expression, and when you don’t feel well you still say, “It is so good to see you and I hope this smile covers how I feel.”  It is not all about me it is all about you and love is never satisfied except by giving.

He that hears and does is likened to a wise man that built upon a rock and the rain descended.

Whether you do or don‘t serve God there will be lots of storms in life.  Remember that Jesus said, “If you hear and do what I say then when the storm comes, when the rain descends and the floods come your house will not fall for it is founded upon a rock.”

When our burdens are ankle deep then we can splash around, knee deep they are knee deep, and when the waters come to my waist then I am scared.  It is no secret that I cannot swim.  I wonder, “What am I supposed to do if I hit bottom?”  The storms will come and the winds will blow.

Wind often refers to spirits.  There are a lot of spirits that blow around in the world today and one of them is unbelief.  The thief comes not but for to steal, to kill, and to destroy.  The devil was a liar from the beginning.  God has never told you that you cannot be saved.  Whosoever will confess and turn can be saved.

God is always interested in whosoever needs to start over again.

If you ever feel spirits coming around you that you realize will take you where you don’t want to go and leave you where you don’t want to stay then get to Jesus Christ.

When the storm beat upon the house they were not destroyed because they had heard and did what the Bible said.  The house fell not because it was built upon the rock.

The God that we serve is everywhere.  This place is only special because you are here.

Jochebed built a safe place.  We need safety.  Safety is of the Lord.
