Truth

The last few weeks I’ve been made to realize how valuable truth is.

Joh 18:38  Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.

This is the universal question.  ‘What is truth?’  As Pilot was standing there, he was  standing in front of truth.  Jesus is truth.

You’ve heard the saying, “You will lose what you don’t use.”  It is the same with the truth.  If you don’t use it, you can lose it.  Some have supposed truth is out of reach to them.

Adam Clark - What is truth - Among the sages of that time there were many opinions concerning truth; and some had even supposed that it was a thing utterly out of the reach of men. Pilate perhaps might have asked the question in a mocking way; and his not staying to get an answer indicated that he either despaired of getting a satisfactory one, or that he was indifferent about it. This is the case with thousands: they appear desirous of knowing the truth, but have not patience to wait in a proper way to receive an answer to their question.

All can find the truth if they seek it.  None will find it if they don’t apply for it.  They must seek it in his Word, the way He has chosen to communicate His truth with man.  If we don’t choose to do things the way our boss tells us we will be in a mess, it is the same with God.

How highly should we prize the bible?  We cannot put enough value on it.  It will keep us out of error and will keep us from losing out with God.

Joh 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Jesus is the truth, find Him and you will have the truth.

Rev 19:9  And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
Rev 19:10  And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
Rev 19:11  And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
Rev 19:12  His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
Rev 19:13  And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

An angel was talking here and said, “Don’t worship me; worship God.”  This word is faithful and true.  It will judge and make war.  If you tell certain people certain scriptures, there will be a war on your hands.  If they don’t concede to the scripture, they will be in error because the Word is truth.

The one on the white horse is Jesus and His name is the Word of God.

Joh 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2  The same was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Joh 1:4  In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
Joh 1:5  And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
Joh 1:6  There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
Joh 1:7  The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
Joh 1:8  He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
Joh 1:9  That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
Joh 1:10  He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
Joh 1:11  He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
Joh 1:12  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Joh 1:13  Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Joh 1:14  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

The Word and God are the same; in the Word and in God there is life.  The life was the light of men; this word was the light of men.  It is what we are to bear witness of.  It is not something that we conjured up on our own.

Joh 17:17  Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

If you have something on each side of an equal sign, (2=4/2; 2=6/3; so 4/2=6/3) then they are the same thing.  If Jesus =Word and Jesus=truth then Word = truth.

If people are fighting the Word of God then they are fighting truth.

Psa 51:6  Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.

Here David has acknowledged his sin and repenting from it.  In the first verse he’s talking about himself.  In verse 4 he speaks of God and in verse 6 the word ‘thou’ is still speaking of God.  He desires truth in the inward part.  You must work the truth way down so that no one can talk you out of it.

God desires that we be truthful way down to the inward part.  One thing that hinders revival is if we are not truthful with our inward man, honest and knowing that we are right with God.

Psa 91:4  He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

It is important to know the truth because it is our protection.  It is our protection from the enemy.  The devil couldn’t have made Eve sin.  She must not have had the truth in the inward part.

Psa 119:137  TZADDI. Righteous art thou, O LORD, and upright are thy judgments.
Psa 119:138  Thy testimonies that thou hast commanded are righteous and very faithful.
Psa 119:139  My zeal hath consumed me, because mine enemies have forgotten thy words.
Psa 119:140  Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.
Psa 119:141  I am small and despised: yet do not I forget thy precepts.
Psa 119:142  Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.

Don’t you love purity?  The world is so unpure.  I was praying for a precious girl that is going to be in high school.  She doesn’t have the protection of Godliness because she is not saved.  I was praying that she would be protected from the evil of the world.  Sometimes this is the only reason why some people are protected.   We love God and pray for them.

The law of God, the Word of God is the truth.  The song came to me, “I don’t want to change it, rearrange it, I love it just like it is.  Love it just like it is.  Love it just like it is.  It still thrills me and fills me like nothing else will ever do.  If you’ll just take it like it is, it will do the same for you.”

If what you are embracing doesn’t produce purity than it is not truth.

Jer 9:3  And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies: but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith the LORD.

We must be valiant for the truth for we are soldiers in the army of the Lord.

Valiant means boldly brave and courageous.  We must be this way for the truth or someone will get to us and dissuade us.  When people come to us with falseness that sounds pretty good we don’t need to be alarmed; we can study it out and learn what the truth is and know what the truth is.

Joh 8:31  Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
Joh 8:32  And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

If you continue…

Not just setting us free from sin in the beginning of our Christian life, truth frees us in our daily battles.  If you’re bombarded with fears, it can free you.  When you know the truth, the spirit of God will come to you.  When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of God can come to you.

So what if the economy is bad; God will take care of us.  Knowledge is empowering, know the Word, study it, find out what is truth.

People say that the devil fell from heaven.  I studied it out and asked Karen and found that in Isaiah 14:12 it is talking about the king of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar.  The word Lucifer means ‘shining or bright one, the king of Babylon, erroneously referred to as Satan.’  The devil is a liar from the beginning; he never lived in truth.   There will be no liars in Heaven.  He has never been in heaven.

In Revelations 12:7, ‘In heavenly places’ means our soul, or the church; these are heavenly places.  The serpent, and his angels, the trouble makers, were cast out into the earth.  His angels, messengers or followers, were cast out with him.  The earth is people of the world.

The scripture says that we come together into heavenly places meaning the church or the experience of worshipping and communing with God.

We either have God as our lord, or we have the devil as our master.  So when we don’t do right and are being led by something other than God then your master is the devil.  ‘Michael’ is Christ who fought against the devil and his angels and they were caught up in the earth.  They were no more in the church.  Christ triumphed.

All through time there have been people that have misunderstood some scriptures and can still be saved and victorious.  One example is John Bunyan.  He was saved, he believed in salvation and deliverance from sin yet he believed erroneously that Satan had once been in heaven and fell.

Knowledge of the Word of God is empowering.  Just knowing that about these two scriptures is empowering to me.
