Bro Gary Weds PM 5/18/11
Rev 7:9  After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

They were standing before the throne, they were dressed in white robes, and they had palms in their hands.  White robes are lives that are free from sin.  There is a spirit in the world today that wants people to think that they can be wearing sinful garments and still be saved.  This thought came from the carnal mind of some man, not from the word of God.

The palms in their hands:

Psa 92:12  The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

Palm trees are endogen – they grow from within; you’ll never find a ring on a palm tree that shows how much it grew last year.  There is only one way to grow spiritually and that is on the inside.  We are to start out growing and our growth is to never end until we are in the presence of the Almighty God.  We will never reach a place where we are not being challenged to gain new ground spiritually.

A palm tree is empty on the inside.  We must be empty on the inside.  There is much to be said of getting rid of the flesh, the desire to sin, and the carnality on the inside.  Many want to keep the identity of themselves.  As long as it is there, it will keep you in a turmoil all the time.  As long as you are carnal, there will not be palms in your hands.

We’ve all told God that we’ve counted the cost and love him more than anything else in this world.  As we travel down the highway of holiness, we come to the place where Jesus asks us again, “Do you love me more than these?”  We say, “Yes, I still love you more, and I refuse to be corrupted.”

A palm tree is Incorruptible:  We live in a day when there are wolf packs everywhere, not just in the mountains.  There are religious wolves and other wolf-like individuals that have the intent to destroy.  The wolves are always trying to make inroads into people’s lives to destroy them spiritually.

Palms are fruit yielding trees.  There was a time when palms provided food, dates, for millions.  If we are not like the palm tree, we’ll starve to death and all those around us will too.  We’ll not get enough food from just coming to church Wednesday night, Sunday Morning, and Sunday night.

They yield much fruit.  “The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree.”  The enemy will tell you that you cannot get past whatever you are having difficulty with. Your flesh will tell you the same thing.  Don’t listen to that voice of discouragement.  You can do more than get past it; you can get rid of it.  You can yield much fruit.

The palm flourishes under difficulty.  When there is not much water, the palm tree will just keep growing.  The palm fronds grow out a little further and new branches grow.

Palms grow where there is lots of sun.  We’ll flourish where the Son of Righteousness arises.  As Americans we all think that we should have ‘the good life’ and have all we want.  Yet there is a Rule that is greater than the constitution.  (Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the constitution.)  The scripture says that man that is born of woman is of few days and many troubles.  Difficulty will come to all.

As much as we love these children in the congregation, they will come to the age where they realize that they are not going to be on easy street as they go through life.  Life has a lot of difficulties in it.  We can spend our life moaning and groaning and talk about the difficulties, disappointments, and troubles in our life; or we can realize that we can dwell in the Sun of Righteousness and draw our resources from Him.  In our most difficult seasons of life, the enemy would like us to get under a bushel that will block out the light of the Sun.  Get out into the Light and let the grace of God flow into your life.

The best fruit of a palm is in its old age.  America and sometimes the church will look at the young and think that they have more to offer than anyone else.  Everyone has something to offer and the young every day are growing older.

I thought of the word anguish.  I thought of a son or daughter going into eternity lost without God.  Let’s be in anguish before that happens.  We live in a world that is always saying, “Everything is great.”  What hole do you think I crawled out of?  No, everything is not always great.  We need to, as the church, be humble enough to say, “God, I’m hurting.”  Be humble enough to acknowledge that you are hurting but you want to be healed.

I want my neighbor to see my fruit.

John was 90 some years old when he wrote 1st, 2nd, and 3rd John, and look at the depth that he wrote with.  It is beautiful!

Palm trees grow tall, reach for the sun, and get their branches growing out so they can get the energy from the sun.  We all need the vitamin D that we receive from the sun.  You must spend some time under the sun to receive what you need.  Get your branches out there, so that when it hits them, you receive strength from the sun.  We’ve all experienced drawing from the earth and being earthy.  We want to draw from the Sun.

There are 360 uses for the palm tree.  Don’t any in this audience ever think that you are of no value to God!  That is a lie from the enemy.  Get on your knees and tell God you’re going to be as much use to Him and the saints as he desires.

Palms mean victory and peace through the Lord Jesus Christ.

Psa 92:10  But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.

May God help me and may God help you to have fresh oil for our daily living, for church projects, in Vacation Bible School.  May they have fresh oil in Carmichael as they have revival with Bro Neely.  May Bro Neely and Bro Goble have fresh oil; it will come because they get before God and ask.

Psa 92:12  The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
Psa 92:13  Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.

Don’t be educated by unbelief, by Babylon, by your flesh to think that you cannot flourish.
Get under the sun of righteousness, it is a marvelous cleanser.

Psa 92:14  They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;

You all know that Karen and I became grandparents when we were out of our forties.  I don’t know how many days that I have left to live; I’m 64.  Oh that my fruit, my love to God, and my love to those little children would be something that will always be in their lives.  It should be the same with the saints; our care, labor, and consideration should be for one another, holding up their hands.

You are smart enough to know that my mind is a little more tired than it was 20 0r 30 years ago.  It is a part of life.  Hold up the old brothers hands.

We need to be bearing fruit, doing our best, not becoming critical, and not becoming a wolf.  Don’t be a wolf and watch out for wolves.

May those that you love, as you age say, “Grandma is getting sweeter; auntie is getting sweeter.”  May they want to hear you pray, and know that you’re praying.  When they come into your presence may they know there is not going to be a conversation about what you don’t have.

Psa 92:15  To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

We are so blessed because we have the Bible, and because we have the Holy Spirit of God in the world today.  Take advantage of the advantage.
