Sister Sunny Wednesday Evening 5/11/16

Psa 81:1  To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of Asaph. Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.

Our God is a Great God.  Ps 95:3.

Great - H1419 גָּדֹל    גָּדוֹל gâdôl    gâdôl gaw-dole', gaw-dole'

From H1431; great (in any sense); hence older; also insolent: -  + aloud, elder (-est), + exceeding (-ly), + far, (man of) great (man, matter, thing, -er, -ness), high, long, loud, mighty, more, much, noble, proud thing, X sore, (´) very.

He is High, Long, Loud, Mighty, Much More, Noble… He is worthy of all praise, honor, and glory.  He is exceeding above and is able to do exceeding and above all we can ask or think.  Sing aloud.  Praise Him.  Make a joyful noise unto God.

Wide, wide as the ocean; High as the heavens above;
Deep, deep as the deepest sea is my saviors love.
I feel so unworthy, still I’m a child of His care.
For His Word teaches me that His love reaches me everywhere.

Sing aloud to God our strength.  He is our strength.

Strength - H5797 עוֹז    עֹז ‛ôz    ‛ôz oze, oze

From H5810; strength in various applications (force, security, majesty, praise): - boldness, loud, might, power, strength, strong.

He is our force, our security; His is majesty and praise.  Because He is great, we can have strength.  We can have boldness, might, power, and be strong.

Psa 81:2  Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.

A psalm here is a song that is meant for an instrument to accompany the singing.  Bring your songs and your instruments.  Sing, play, rejoice, and praise God!

Psa 81:3  Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.

Psa 81:4  For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.

Statute - H2706 חֹק chôq khoke

From H2710; an enactment; hence an appointment (of time, space, quantity, labor or usage): - appointed, bound, commandment, convenient, custom, decree (-d), due, law, measure, X necessary, ordinance (-nary), portion, set time, statute, task.

This was a statute and a law of the God of Jacob.  It has been a comfort and an encouragement to me to read scriptures where it commands that we sing and play instruments in praise to Him.  It is convenient – suitable, useful, and fitting.  It has been commanded and is a necessary task.

The singers and the players on instruments shall be there.  Ps 87:6, 7

Blow the trumpet.  Make a clear sound.  Feel free to sing loud and with all your heart.  Don’t let others crush your song.  Don’t let the enemy crush your song.  Let no man despise thy youth, but be an example of the believers in word, in conversation – in your actions, in your mode of life.

Psa 81:5  This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not.

Psa 81:6  I removed his shoulder from the burden: his hands were delivered from the pots.

He has brought us out of bondage.  He is worthy of our loud, unashamed, praise.  He delivered us from a way that is unintelligible and insane.

Insane - 1. Unsound in mind or intellect; mad; deranged in mind; delirious; distracted.

Insanity is wrong thinking, unreasonable thinking.  Self-pity has insanity or wrong thinking that goes with it.  It will cause you to think that no one understands you and everyone is against you.  It will paint a picture that is false and cause you to believe it.  It will blind your eyes to what is real and important and to what is your responsibility to take care of.

Rebellion has insanity that goes with it.  All The ways of the world are out of course.  Psalms 82:5

He brought us out from where we were surrounded by thinking and immersed in thinking that was not understandable.  He removed our shoulder from the burden that we were carrying.  He freed us from the guilt of sin.  He brought us up out of the horrible pit and set our feet in a large spot on the rock.  He established our goings.  Psalms 40:2.  Ps 118:5

Psa 81:7  Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah.

When we called to Him, in our distress, He heard us and answered.  He saved our soul.

Delivered - H2502 חָלַץ châlats khaw-lats'

A primitive root; to pull off; hence (intensively) to strip, (reflexively) to depart; by implication to deliver, equip (for fight); present, strengthen: - arm (self), (go, ready) armed (X man, soldier), deliver, draw out, make fat, loose, (ready) prepared, put off, take away, withdraw self.

He equipped us to be able to fight the enemy.  He strengthened, armed, delivered, prepared, and loosed us.  We called in our labor and bondage, under the cruel taskmasters of sin, and He heard us, delivered us, and is proving and perfecting us.

Psa 81:8  Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me;

Hear and I will tell you again.  I will charge you and give you warning, if you will harken unto me.

Psa 81:9  There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god.

Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and Him only shalt thou serve.  Mark 12:29, 30. Matt 4:10.

Psa 81:10  I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

The Eternal One, the Great God, He it is that has delivered us.  He will abundantly satisfy our every desire.  As a little bird in the nest opens his mouth as his mother or father approaches.  Speak your desires.  Open wide your mouth.  Make your requests for good things.  Ask largely.  Bring forth your strong arguments.  Isaiah 41:21.  Matt 7:7, 8

Psa 81:11  But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.

Psa 81:12  So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their own counsels.

Psa 81:13  Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!

Psa 81:14  I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.

God’s promise to us if we will hearken and walk in His ways is that He will subdue our enemies.  He will give us victory.  He will deliver us from our adversaries.  Is there a giant that we are battling in our personal or spiritual life?  Jesus fought the battle through and gives to us the victory.

As Brother Gary brought.  He is the white horse rider that goes forth conquering and to conquer. Revelations 6:2

If we will seek and hear His voice and walk in His ways, He will soon subdue our enemies.

Psa 81:15  The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto him: but their time should have endured for ever.

He has a plan for the souls that hate Him.  That they would submit to Him.  He is not desirous that any be lost but that all should come to repentance.  Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord of lords.  2 Peter 3:9.  Romans 14:11-13

Psa 81:16  He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.

He has the finest portion to give us from what the world has to offer.  What He offers will satisfy.
