Brother Gary Wednesday Evening 3/9/16

It is wonderful to have the Word of God to teach us, instruct us and to work with us.

Psa 19:1  To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

God is given to detail: “Handiwork.”  To do meticulous and technical things you have to be given to detail.  You don’t build a guitar with a chainsaw.  People that sew or do needlework, they have to be gifted with detail.

God is given to detail:  The literal light, the rain, the dew, and the clouds all point to the glory of God.

Psa 19:2  Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.

Many people don’t hear God speaking.  May God ever keep our ear very tender.  May we never allow our hearing to become dull.  God is faithful to speak to us and to talk to us.

Psa 19:3  There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.

It is wonderful when we think of the vastness of God.  He can speak all around the globe.  In our small circle, always remember that God is speaking there.

Psa 19:4  Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,

Psa 19:5  Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.

Psa 19:6  His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

This morning it became real to me how God himself drew a line for, as the earth rotates on its axis, the sun to circle the earth.  That has a vast influence in our lives.

The line that God has chosen: that every place should feel the heat from the sun.  God ordained that the sun would have a circle from one end of heaven to another.  It goes through the world and the tabernacle where God and His Word are teaching.

It is as the bridegroom that comes out of His chamber: He comes out to meet the bride that is going to be given to Him.  It is marvelous the way that God comes with the beauty of the sun, the Word of God and the beauty of Jesus Christ every day.

Every once in a while we have the opportunity to taste, smell, and feel darkness.  I always leave with the impression, “How sad their life is to not know the wonderful value of the rays of the Sun, the Sun of Righteousness.”

He rejoices as a strong man to run a race.  I haven’t seen a lot of races.  One thing is that they have them on the wrong day, it is on a Sunday.

The Sun knows that He will pass through the tabernacle of the world with what everyone needs.  There is no question about His ability to change lives.

Looking to Jesus the author and the finisher of our faith:  “Jesus Christ the same, yesterday, today, and forever.”  This is a reality to every one of us that meet with Him as He circles the earth with the light of the Gospel.  He is ready to go forth and spread His light to every place.

God covers the whole earth.  There is no place that is secreted from His visiting the whole earth.

There is nothing hid from the heat thereof:  throughout the winter there were some little flowers that didn’t completely die.  Some tried to stay alive all winter.  We got the leaves cleaned out and the plants responded to more sun and the digging around; they really liked the more heat that shone in there.

Karen looked it over and thought that it looked nice.  She walked to the edge of the sidewalk and saw a four-by-four that had leaves and other things that had gathered in.  The debris was quite deep.  She said, “If we get those leaves out then the hyacinths would probably just sprout up.”

I took a rake in there and carefully started moving the collection that had gathered through fall and winter.  As I began to move the debris, I saw green.  The heat had gotten to them through all sorts of leaves, ice, and snow that had been there.  As I pulled the leaves back I could see beautiful green life coming up out of those.

The sun completely circles the earth; the heat, the rays, and the beams reach everywhere on earth.  I first want to consider the soul that is all covered with malice.  If you have not studied malice, you need to.  It is right in the order of where Paul taught that there are some things that must be laid aside.

I think tonight of souls that are covered with malice.  There are souls that are covered with strife; they are ready to fight all the time.  There are souls that have allowed the difficulties of life to bring hatred.  It is real.

It is not impossible for an individual that is saved to have a terrible battle with bitterness.  I had a brother tell me recently that injustices by professors of salvation opened the door to a great battle with bitterness in his life.  We have to watch that.  I am glad that he told me.  I thought, “I have to check out.  Have I let what whomever did cause any bitterness to grow in my life?”

There are souls that have allowed bitterness and hypocrisy to come into their life.  The easiest thing in the world is to get saved.  But the only way that people can get saved is to be honest.  It is so wonderful that the heat from the rays of the sun will work through a lot of things that have been covering up even a deep seated desire to serve God and help it to grow.

I had the song this morning: “Deep within the heart there is a longing to find happiness and peace of mind,” but People’s lives get so cluttered.  If you only let one thing to get out of order: it is easy for clutter to gather where at one time there was just one thing.

On the precious soul where God designed such beauty and life…  The congregation has been encouraging on the thought of edification.  Through this, how beautiful the life that begins to unfold.

As much as we would like these children to have a storybook life, that is just in stories.  On the same token, precious little lives that don’t know the same bible truths that you and I adhere to, little lives, some very young, begin to have debris stacked on them.  Some of them make choices:  “I am not going to do right.”  That is a bad choice.

I think of the Sun of righteousness.  That heat will go there, it will go through the debris.  They will have that moment of awakening, “Things are not right in my life.”

I have read and I believe that it is true, where there are lodge-pole cones with seeds, it takes a fire to open them and cause the seed to enter the ground so that they can grow another tree.  It is the same with lives that get all cluttered.  Sometimes it is just ignorance and foolishness that they fill their lives with.

The children… a man stopped by my house and said, “I don’t even watch TV.  It is full of garbage.  To think that children watch it!  The language is terrible!”  You and I know that is a tool of the devil to clutter those little minds.  They will pick up and speak what they hear.  They will look like what they see.

The soul becomes covered with darkness, vanity.  People are so vain.  They glob on make-up and pay however much for designer jeans and don’t even have a decent outfit to wear.

People take up the habits of life: they chew snus or smell like they are a cigar or cigarette factory.  They don’t think they can give it up.  They don’t think they can give up the dirty habits of life.  It is terrible.

The conscience defiled.  The devil wants the conscience of these children that are here to be defiled about marriage, purity, the husband working… The devil wants to get things all messed up in children’s minds.  Society doesn’t want us to say anything about this clutter.

The conscience defiled!  They used to talk about some of the states, one of them is West Virginia, that for however many generations there were families that had lived on welfare.  Today we have a lot of children that think that is the deal: to live off of the system.

The conscience becomes defiled.  The bible teaches us that if a man doesn’t work he shouldn’t eat, and if a man doesn’t provide for his own then he is worse than an infidel and denied of the faith.

Children need to learn how to work.  Learn how to control their mind.  They will see things that they need to choose to not look at.  That stuff destroys minds.  It will cause people to become abusers.

The sun can reach to a seed, a bulb of a flower, all covered with earth; leaves packed on the top, snow and ice on top of the leaves, and trash thrown on the snow.  I have real pain when I see little lives having trash thrown on them.  God is unhappy about it.  You and I are unhappy about it.

The heat of the Sun, of whom nothing is hid:  Some people don’t want to get saved because they don’t want to be honest.  Who do they think that they are hiding it from?  It is interesting how people think that they can reject God and no one will know about it.  There is nothing hid from the sun.

That heat comes down on all that debris and goes through it and through it and through it.  That seed, the bulb or desire to know God, feels a little craving, a little hungering for God.  The warmth of the sun upon the soul that is buried in darkness!  The sun begins to work on the bulb and cause a desire to spring up again for God.

I don’t like it but it is good for me to taste the darkness of a soul once in a while.  We live such a sheltered life.  It is good to see how much darkness is out there.

The second visual: the flower has been cleared of all the past debris.  All of us have been there:  “We have to clear this away.  It is debris; it hinders growth.”  The sun on its daily line sending heat, light and nourishment.

Psa 19:7  The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

God can awaken a soul all covered with debris to the thought, “I have to get right with God.”

Rabbi Zacharias tried to commit suicide as a young man.  Someone brought him a bible that had the verse marked, “I am the way the truth and the light.”  He said, “God if you will let me live I will leave no stone unturned ‘til I find you.”

The effects of the testimony of the Lord are positive!

Psa 19:8  The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

Have you thought of the darkness?  Barney Warren got saved as a teenager.  As He journeyed with God he enjoyed the journey.  He found this wonderful way so enthusiastic, so sweet, so pure, and so marvelous that one day he wrote,

O drink of the river of pleasure;
A deep living stream of delight.
Tis laden with blessings forever.
It flashes in heaven’s pure light.

Talk about a wonderful way!  It is.  They also wrote the song, “There is a river of peace.”

The statutes of the Lord are right and rejoice the heart: there is a way to be happy.  It is not being covered with debris and garbage.  That is not where it is found.

The Word of God enlightens the eye.

Psa 19:9  The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.

Isn’t it wonderful to be clean?  Clean mind, clean eyes, clean appetite…

The fear of the Lord is the knowledge of the almighty that His ways are true and right.  When God says, “That will only lead you where you don’t want to go.”  Then don’t go that way.

Psa 19:10  More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

The value of the fear of the Lord, the value of God drawing a line and saying, “That is wrong.”  It is better than money and sweeter than the honey.

Psa 19:11  Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.

Psa 19:12  Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.

The psalmist turned his heart to God, “Keep back thy servant from presumptuous sins.”  Don’t you like it when God says, “Don’t go there.”

Psa 19:13  Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.

Psa 19:14  Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Thank God for His Word!
