Brother Gary Wednesday Evening 11/18/15
Mat 11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because
thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them
unto babes.
Jesus spoke these words at the sunrise of His ministry. John was in prison. Whenever someone is in a difficult spot, it
has its affect upon you. Just hearing of
the needs of Sister Terry’s mother, it has its affect upon you. Hearing of Brother Jim and Sister Marilyn has
its affect upon you.
John sent word to Jesus, “Are you the messiah? Are you really the one that I said would come?” Jesus said, “Go back and tell him, “The blind
see.””
Mat 11:3
And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for
another?
Mat 11:4
Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew
John again those things which ye do hear and see:
Mat 11:5
The blind receive their sight, and the lame
walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and
the poor have the gospel preached to them.
Mat 11:6
And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in
me.
Every one of these things are twofold. If you are praying for any individual in sin,
it will take a miracle for them to see their condition and then for them to see
the answer to their condition.
The blind see and the lame walk. We live in a society today that everyone
wants to be lame. They think that being
lame gives them an excuse. They have
someone to blame for being lame. It is
their mom, their dad, the stresses of life, they have something in their life
that left them lame.
Every individual that we meet needs a revelation of how lame
it is to be lame. Many don’t want to take care of their family. They are
lame.
This Wires man that has two sons: Can you imagine being so lame? Some might say, “His wife divorced him.” Go on
with life. He has two sons, yet he is in
Kalispell in rehab. He needs a miracle
from God in more than one way.
Some might say, “They have a step dad.” That is not it. They need their dad, it is the responsibility
of the dad.
Lame: Mothers don’t want to be mothers. Dads don’t want to be dads. Lame America will make it tough on all of
us. Those precious little ones in the
school, you want to lift a good standard.
Many of them don’t have a mom or a dad that work. They are teaching their children to be lame.
Jesus heals lame children.
If you could see the playback of my life… if I had not gotten saved, I
would be a lame duck.
Jesus said, “Go tell John, the blind see and the lame walk.” I am here to encourage faith. If you have someone in your family that isn’t
saved, then believe God, count the cost, and if you receive anything to say, then
say, “I will.”
We have to count the cost.
Lepers are cleansed. There is a
cure for all sin except the blasphemy of the Holy Ghost. We have the cure.
The deaf hear. You talk
about encouraging! “Father I thank thee.” We need to thank God that He has a way of
revealing to men and women the need and the cure.
The dead are raised up.
Brother David requested a marvelous song. God took Him from the shadow of death and
saved him.
The poor have the gospel preached to them.
Mat 11:6 And blessed is
he, whosoever
shall not be offended in me.
Have you noticed how people get offended in Jesus? “I have a right to my life… I have a right to
be lame.” No you don’t.
Mat 11:7
And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning
John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A
reed shaken with the wind?
Mat 11:8
But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed
in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing
are in kings' houses.
Mat 11:9
But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea,
I say unto you, and more than a prophet.
Jesus asked, “What are you looking for? A prophet?
More than a prophet.”
When men and women realize that they have a deep need, then
they begin to realize that the desire of all nations has come. They realize, “I need Jesus. I need a definite change. I need something that I cannot identify with
that dis past this world. It is the
desire of all nations and it is the king of kings.”
John preached the message, reproved sin, and stood for what
was right against one in authority. He was
cast into prison. John was courageous to
say, “That is wrong.” You and I need to
be courageous to say when something is wrong, “That is wrong.”
I was reading of the daughter of Herod’s second wife. She came out and danced before them and put
on a show. Clark said that it wasn’t
even that good. She went out there, did
a leap, and a jump. Herod said, “Honey,
what would you like? I will give you
anything you want.” She had been
instructed by her mother to say, “I would like John the Baptist’s head on a
charger.”
Jesus said of all that, “Since the days of John the Baptist
the kingdom of heaven is preached and suffers violence.” If you and I are going to have praise,
worship, love God, we must have it settled. When people get under conviction and don’t like truth, those that have always
been nice may hold you at a distance. They
may look at you through the corner of their eyes.
When someone gets mad will we stand?
Mat 11:10 For this is he, of whom it is
written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy
way before thee.
Mat 11:11 Verily I say unto
you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John
the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is
greater than he.
Mat 11:12 And from the days of
John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the
violent take it by force.
Stand. The violent
take it by force. We must have the
attitude, “We want victory more than anything else. When the enemy comes in like a flood, we are
going to get violent.” When Brother
Hines came to Missoula, we were so poor that we couldn’t pay attention. We couldn’t afford a treat. I told Karen that we could only afford to go
one night so to pick a night.
When we were there Brother Hines preached the heavens
open. We looked at each other the next
morning, “Is there any way that we can go again?” We decided we could charge a trip.
When the enemy comes in like a flood and your flesh cries
out. When someone in the world looks at
you, “We heard some things about you.” When
the enemy comes in like a flood, have it settled. We are going to be violent. We are going to have God first and be
rejoicing first.
Mat 11:13 For all the prophets
and the law prophesied until John.
Mat 11:14 And if ye will
receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.
Mat 11:15 He that hath ears to
hear, let him hear.
He that has ears to hear let him hear.
How shall I describe this generation? There are people that no matter what you do
they will not be happy with you. God
help me to get past these obstructions.
Mat 11:16 But whereunto shall I
liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and
calling unto their fellows,
Mat 11:17 And saying, We have
piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have
not lamented.
Mat 11:18 For John came neither
eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.
Mat 11:19 The Son of man came
eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a
friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.
Jesus began to upbraid the cities where he had done most of his
mighty works
Mat 11:23 And thou, Capernaum,
which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty
works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have
remained until this day.
Jesus began to pray openly in the midst of the
faultfinders: “Oh God I thank thee.” God help us to be thankful. When people make fun of you for believing God
and trusting Him. “I thank thee that
thou hast hid these things from the wise.”
Mat 11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because
thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them
unto babes.
Mat 11:26 Even so, Father: for
so it seemed good in thy sight.
People that reject God are the unwise.
Mat 11:27 All things are
delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father;
neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son
will reveal him.
Father I am so thankful that you have revealed Jesus and
yourself to me. To know Him! To love Him!
To serve Him!
Jesus’ example of being thankful: he was praying and said, “I
thank thee. We are revealed to the poor.”
That is the individual that recognizes that “I really need God,” and to the
humble.
Mat 11:28 Come unto me, all
ye that labour
and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon
you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest
unto your souls.
Mat 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is
light.
Isn’t it wonderful that there is rest? I have been so burdened for the Twete’s and
the Snead’s. I know what it is like to
have something just running over in my mind.
There is a place of rest. There is
a place, “God I am giving this to you.”
He said, “Come unto me all you that labor and are heavy
laden; I will give you rest.” Only the humble can do this: “Take my yoke upon
you and learn of me.”
Jesus is thrilled when someone says, “Teach me.” Have you tried to teach someone that knows everything? God help us.
I am meek and lowly in heart: isn’t it something to have the Son of God teach
us? “My yoke is easy.” Don’t anyone try to tell my dad or me how
tough it is to serve God. He knew what
it was to wake up hung over.
Their brother Roy was the smallest and was always getting
into fights. He would have to come and
get his brothers and say, “I am having trouble with the Vacura boys and there
are about a dozen of them.” Aren’t you glad that you found a better way?
My yoke is easy. I have
been thinking a lot of what my life would have been like without God. “Don’t pity me dear friend, I am richly
blessed.”
My yoke is easy and my burden is light. Whenever you try to control the yoke and tell
Jesus how it is going to be, then it doesn’t work out too well. But when you say, “You are the teacher I am
the student then it works well.
