Brother Gary Wednesday Evening 12/5/12

Brother Gary Wednesday Evening 12/5/12
Heb 6:17  Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:
Heb 6:18  That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:

What God has promised, He wants us to know that not only did He promise it, but He will perform it.  We’ve all run across those that when they promised, they meant to keep their promise but for whatever reason did not perform it.  God will keep His promises.

We are joint heirs with Christ.  The mind of God is unchanged concerning His thoughts and promises towards the heirs of God.  This world is in a sick condition.  We have only lived in this time, so it is the worst that we have ever seen.  I didn’t live in the days of Noah or Malachi, but I am alive today.

Sin and darkness is very bad.  It is wrong.  It is discouraging to see men and women throwing their lives away again and again.  The other side of this is that God has not changed his promise toward us.  Others may choose to mock, we choose to serve God, and God chooses to keep His promise
The oath goes back in time:

Gen 22:15  And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,
Gen 22:16  And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:
Gen 22:17  That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
Gen 22:18  And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

There are no powers of hell that can keep God from blessing us if God decides to open the door and bless us.  There are things that would try to bring fear and worry to our soul.  God has promised to bless and He will bless His people.

“You have placed us right where we are.  I am here, I’m going to serve you and do what you want.”  We can trust God that He will send a blessing.

God has a way of multiplying things.  We may feel that we don’t have this or that.  We may feel that we don’t have family.  We may not, but we are a member of the family of God, we have a heavenly father and brothers and sisters in Christ.

You and I have the ability to pray for individuals throughout the whole world.  We can pray for people that we don’t even know.  God knows where souls are that need Him and He can keep His promises.

Heb 6:18  That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:

God is not a man that He will lie.  We know who the author of all lies is and who it is that brings the thought of unbelief, “Will God keep His promises?”  He was a liar from the beginning.

Jas 1:17  Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

God doesn’t get up on the wrong side of the bed.  He is not different from one time to another.

Tit 1:2  In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

God cannot lie, what he has promised He will perform.

Heb 1:8  But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

God has always been and time will not change how God is.  He was God before the world was spoken into existence and He will be still God through the end of time, forever and ever.

Heb 13:8  Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Heb 6:18 the Word of God is immutable

Mat 24:35  Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

God’s promise will not change.

1Pe 1:23  Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

We were born again by the Word of God which is not corruptible; it is alive and lives and abides forever.

Psa 119:89  LAMED. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.

You can trust God and you can trust the Word of God.

Rev 14:6  And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,

The gospel is eternal.  The word of God does not change.  We are blessed to know this Word of God.

Mal 3:6  For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

Heb 6:18  That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
Heb 6:19  Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;

Because of God and His Word, we can cast our anchor into this hope.  It is sure and steadfast.

Heb 6:19  Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;
Heb 6:20  Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

When we put our anchor of hope in the Word of God and in God Himself, we are placing it in the hope of the eternalness of the Word of God that cannot lie and in God Himself and the Son.

We must put our anchor out and have a cable to throw the anchor off with.  The hemp rope will wet and rot.  When the storm comes the anchor would stay but the ship go adrift.  When the storm comes we want to anchor in God and have the strong cable of faith that will hold the anchor.

There are times when people put out an anchor and it lands on top of a rock.  As the boat drifts, the anchor comes off the rock but then finds itself where it can dig one of its ends down into something that will hold it.

I read the account of one that said, “God gave someone the design of the anchor.  It is made of hardened material that doesn’t change.  Think of how an anchor is made, it has a shaft that goes down and ends that curve out.  The ends curving out can represent God on one side and the Word of God on the other.

God hasn’t changed.  There will be storms that come that will be tough storms.  We want to be anchored in the Haven of rest.  Then no matter how strong the storm is, we are anchored.  “Let the storm come and whatever happen, I will go right on trusting God.”
