Brother Gary Wednesday Evening 7/4/12

Brother Gary Wednesday Evening 7/4/12
Psa 91:1  He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

There is a secret place designed by God for every individual to dwell in that reaches the age of accountability.  (The age of accountability is when you are old enough to know when you do wrong and feel conviction on your heart “I did what God is not pleased with.”)

We live in this time world where the question would be “What is wrong?”  The bible says, “He that knoweth to do good and doeth it not to him it is sin.”  The Word of God is the instructor on what is right and what is wrong.

“What should I think about?”

Php 4:8  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

We are to think on things that are true.  The mind has the ability to take in all sorts of information, has an imagination, and is able to dream, but we are to think on these things.

If we are to dwell in the secret place of the Most High, we make the choice to obey the Word of God.

Psa 91:2  I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

It is a wonderful thing to have a refuge.  We each need to have God as our refuge, know how to go into this refuge, and know how to find refuge in God.

Hymn, “Near to the Heart of God.”

There is a place of full release,
Near to the heart of God,
A place where all is joy and peace,
Near to the heart of God.

Oh Jesus, blest Redeemer,
Sent from the heart of God,
Hold us who wait before Thee,
Near to the heart of God.

Each of us needs to know how to come before God with everything.  We need to know how to get a hold of God in this place of refuge and bring everything before Him.

We have heavy burdens and we are right to have them but we must find a place of full release and get it over on the Lord.  My healing, my education, my finances, the situation with my brother or my friend, I must get over on the Lord.  ‘There is a place of full release near to the heart of God.’

He is my refuge.  It is a wonderful thing that there is a hiding place.  In Him I trust.  You can trust Jesus.

Psa 91:3  Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

There is no one that is above getting into a snare.  If you have the attitude that “It cannot happen to me” then you will be snared.  D.O. Teasley wrote many songs that we have sung and enjoyed.  God dealt with him and challenged him, yet he let a snare get him and he died lost.  Only God can direct us and deliver us from the snare.

The noisome pestilence:  There is a noisome pestilence that will literally wear you out with worry of things that you cannot control. The way that God works is saying, “This is the way, walk ye in it.”  The noisome pestilence will fill you with worries that you can do nothing about.

Psa 91:4  He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

A chicken will take care of her young ones.  When the birds of prey want to get them then the mother clucks and the chicks get under her wings.  She has already fought the battle through and wants to protect her young.

There are a lot of birds of prey out there.  They are dangerous in their capacity, other than the individuals that are saved and walking with God you will find among the educated and the uneducated birds of prey that are ready to reach in and take the innocent out.  You can sing the song, “under His wings.”

There will be times when as the eagle carries her young on her wings that God will pick you up and protect you from anything that the enemy will try to harm you with.

Psa 91:5  Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

The terror of the night:  There are lots of rulers of darkness.  Some try to come among the religious people and they find their liberty there.  There is no liberty for them among the righteous that are saved and sanctified and walking in the light.

The arrow:  There will be those that will have arrows to shoot at you if you are saved.  I’ve found that people that are not saved also have those that turn arrows loose on them; sometimes their friends turn loose on them.  God will give you the shield of faith and you can see the arrows stopped.

Psa 91:6  Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
Psa 91:7  A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

It is discouraging when people backslide and leave God.  You don’t have to go with them or fall under anything.  God will keep you from going back.  Song: “Shall I go back? No, not I.”

Psa 91:8  Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.

The world takes but it never gives back.  “Pick me up on your way down.”  The enemy has a way of taking individuals our age and making them think that the world will give them something special and they get haughty and are king of the mountain for a moment.  It isn’t long until all of that is gone and they begin reaping the reward of the wicked.

Sin doesn’t pay.  The God that we serve is just as faithful to keep His promise to those that serve Him as He is to keep those accountable that have rejected Him.

Psa 91:9  Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
Psa 91:10  There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
Psa 91:11  For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

Without a pastor from God you are without a shepherd and without a shepherd then you are headed the wrong direction.  There are some things that God will help us escape in our lives if we have a Godly pastor.

In your hour of need God will dispatch His angels.  There are times when in my mind I feel like it is overloaded with concerns and burdens that I don’t have an answer to.  When your mind gets churning, you can look up to God and say, “I cannot handle this, could you send an angel?”

Take care of things in your heart and life, Keep your heart house in order so that the angels feel comfortable coming.

Psa 91:12  They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

God doesn’t want any one of us limping spiritually.  He wants us cheerfully walking up the highway of holiness.  As tough as our feet are when they are injured then they really hurt.

God knows the road that you are traveling.  There will be times when there is something in that road that if you step on you will be hurt.  He warns you, “There is something there that will be detrimental if you step on it.”  He wants you to learn to be obedient so He doesn’t always just remove it.

Psa 91:13  Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

The adder is a poisonous snake that if it bites then there is no recovery and death within two or three hours.  God knows how to protect us from the poisons.
