Brother Gary Kelly Wednesday Evening 7/18/12

Brother Gary Kelly Wednesday Evening 7/18/12
Rom 10:8  But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

It is wonderful to have the word of faith.  The word of God is alive.  We may be bombarded with human reasoning or other types of reasoning.  In our minds sometimes our human reasoning will work against us even while we try to pray.  We are blessed to have this Word of Faith.  The Word of God is full of power.

It is a wonderful thing that in the Gospel Day the Word of God is written on the fleshly tables of our heart.  In the Old Testament, the ten commandments were held in the ark of the covenant in the tabernacle or the temple.  In the Gospel Day the Word is not only in our head and in our hand, but the Word of Faith is in our heart.

When we have something in our heart then it is completely different than something in just our head.  You may have a good thought, but when the thought comes into your heart, it is in my heart to write this one or that one, it is in my heart to pray for this one’s healing, it is in my heart to pray for this request, when it gets into our heart and we mix it with the Word of Faith then it is different than that that is just in our mind.

“If thou shalt confess…”:  This is the Word of Faith.

Rom 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

The word of faith for that one that needs to get saved is, “If he/she will confess and believe then they shall be saved.”  I’ve been stirred this past week.  We live in a world full of people with religious spirits that are not changing their lives.  When you have the word of faith in your heart mixed with a burden then it is different than just a word written on paper or in your head.

When there is something wrong and your heart says so, not just your head, then you can pray and expect God to work.  Sister Sheridan brought the thought of the Lord blessing the prodigals with an overwhelming desire to serve Him.  May God grant that you and I mix that burden with the Word of Faith.

Rom 10:1  Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.
Rom 10:2  For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

There are a lot of people that think that they know all about God who don’t know anything about the True God.  The vast difference between religion and people’s conception of God and the True God is that the True God gives life.  They may be able to quote scripture and have some things right but until they know God and have life, and life more abundantly, then what they have is not according to what the Bible teaches.

Rom 10:3  For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

May God challenge me and you to always realize that all righteousness only comes from God.

Rom 10:4  For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
Rom 10:5  For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.
Rom 10:6  But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)
Rom 10:7  Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)
Rom 10:8  But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

For every literal need, spiritual need, physical condition, or complicated situation, there is the Word of Faith that will work to bring an answer if men and women will study the Word of God and let God speak.

Rom 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Rom 10:11  For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

When people begin to call on God and exercise their faith then they will be saved.

Rom 10:12  For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
Rom 10:13  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Rom 10:14  How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
Rom 10:15  And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Everyone that is saved has a message of good tidings to take to lost mankind.  It is a gospel of peace.  This world and individuals in this world have no peace.  They may be praying up a storm but in the next breath they will be telling you about how their life is out of course and out of order.  God will put peace and order in a life.

This true and living God speaks living things to His servants.  We are bombarded by unbelief, evil reports, and people brazenly living contrary to what the Word of God teaches.  There is no peace without the living God.

Rom 10:16  But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
Rom 10:17  So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Sometimes we look at situations and are squelched because we see individuals that are far removed from the Word of God.  Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.  We have a Living God that speaks His word to us because He wants our soul to be a watered garden.  I believe that it doesn’t end there.  He wants us to speak His word to other individuals that are so dry.

1Ti 4:6  If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.

Paul told Timothy that if he would bring into remembrance what Paul had said to him to the brothern then he would be a good minister.  The book of First Timothy is pretty negative to start with yet it is positive because it is just the condition that is existing today.

1Ti 4:1  Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

Probably the greatest enemies of the gospel and the church are not those individuals that don’t know anything about God.  It is those that have heard the gospel yet held onto something that they didn’t want to part from and then departed from the faith.  This can be positive to help you and me to make our calling and election sure.  They give heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.  May God help us as the church to realize that we need to stay true to God.

When I got saved I left the old life of sin to never go back to it.  I’m 60 some years old and hopefully smart enough to know that the world doesn’t have anything to offer.  At my age the enemy will still bring a thought to my mind and ask if I wouldn’t just like to entertain what sin has to offer.

The price that one pays to dabble in sin is way more than I ever would consider gambling on.  Sin has nothing to offer.  I have tasted of the wonderful things of life, of the fellowship of the saints, and of worship of God.

I enjoy the creation of God.  There is a spiritual feast to be had in the songs that we sing.  I have tasted of the wonderful things of God; do I want to go back to the world?  Do I want to think that there is some great thing out there that I will enjoy and get whatever out of?  No.  What people get out of sin is seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.

1Ti 4:2  Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
1Ti 4:3  Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

Men were making rules in their day that were not according to the Word of God.

1Ti 4:6  If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.

1Ti 4:10  For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

Keep God alive and the Word of God coming to you as the Word that is alive from God.  We fight death; the enemy would like to get us to just be religious.  He’d like for us to take on the thought of, “I’m Church of God and I go to church.”  The only way to be alive spiritually is to be in contact with the living God and receive the Word of God.

1Ti 4:11  These things command and teach.
1Ti 4:12  Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

Live so that nobody can despise your testimony.  The word conversation here covers all the actions of our life.  Be an example by what you talk about.  Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.  Be an example.

It is outdated but it is right, young men and young ladies be mannerly.  We are living in a society where we as brothers are looking up most of the time because people are dressed immodestly.

We need to be an example.  Modesty is beautiful.  We need to cultivate the appreciation of modesty.  Not just in clothing but in what we talk about and in our taste.

Be an example in charity.  Charity is holy love in action.  For those that you are burdened for, at least once a week, read First Corinthians chapter 13.  Live and show your love; words are cheap.  Actions speak louder than words.

Be an example in spirit.  Daniel and the three Hebrew Children had an excellent spirit.  Anyone can wake up cranky.  Spend time with God until the Joy of the Lord comes.  We will all have bad days and we need to know how to handle bad days.  We are human and not a crystal.

It is important that our spirit is an example of the believers.  When we disagree, we will not always agree on everything and we don’t always need to let the other decide, we need to know how to disagree and have a right attitude.

Be an example in faith.  Someone will get saved.  Miracles will happen.  We serve a living God whose Word is true.

1Ti 4:13  Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

We want to do this.  We want to study and know what the Bible teaches.  We need to have grace to take the exhortation.  We want to know, teach, and preach the doctrine.  If you will do His will then you will know the doctrine. (John 7:17)

1Ti 4:14  Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

Use your gifts, be prepared.  If you sing, play instruments, write letters… use your gifts and be prepared.

1Ti 4:15  Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

We want to be our best.  We want to be our best at the rest home.  If you feel awkward while visiting with the residents, ask God to help you to not be awkward.

    1. Thanks Sister Teri. I'm glad that you were able to use my notes. It is my purpose in posting them.

      I have enjoyed your Sunday school lessons. It seems that God is working in many of our hearts in the same way: that of being in the Lord's army employed by Him for His work.
