Bro Gyme Sunday Evening 11/6/11
Pro 4:1 Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.
Pro 4:2 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.
Pro 4:3 For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.
Pro 4:4 He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.
Pro 4:5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
Pro 4:6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
Pro 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
We’re instructed that wisdom is important and that we need to get it.
Psa 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.
This is the fear that means we respect God and His Word and keep His ways.
Pro 4:4 tells us to keep His commandments and live.
Instruction from God shows us how to live and teaches us how to serve God.
Pro 4:8 Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
Pro 4:9 She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.
Grace means graciousness, kindness, favor. Wisdom will help us to have grace in our lives. I’ve been convicted to have more grace in my life. This crown of glory will make our life beautiful. When we get wisdom and take his instruction it will make unbeautiful things in our life beautiful.
Pro 4:10 Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.
Pro 4:11 I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.
Aren’t you glad that there is a path to walk in? It is a beaten path.
Pro 4:12 When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
Pro 4:13 Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.
Are we quick to receive instruction? Are we quick to obey? How many times I would have avoided trials if I would have been quicker to obey. What God instructs us is life.
Pro 4:14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.
Pro 4:15 Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
Pro 4:16 For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.
Pro 4:17 For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
Pro 4:18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
The path of the just is as the shining light. Perfect here means to confirm, to establish, to render sure. This path that we are talking about shines brighter and brighter. If we will seek instruction and wisdom, God will establish us and help us to be confirmed, faithful, to render sure.
2Ti 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
2Ti 1:10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:
2Ti 1:11 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.
2Ti 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
2Ti 1:13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
Isa 28:9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
Isa 28:10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
‘Hold fast the form of sound words.’ God has a way; it is very individual. His way is the light that He shines upon your path. God doesn’t hold Little Gyme to the same light that He holds Big Gyme to. When Je’anna got saved she was just as saved as any of us. God doesn’t have some on a higher plane than others.
Pro 4:19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
Pro 4:20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
Pro 4:21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
Pro 4:22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
Pro 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
If you walk in darkness you will stumble.
The heart is the center of our life. The heart doesn’t need the brain to function, but the brain needs the heart. When you stop a heart the life is over just that fast.
If we let our heart be contaminated it affects our whole life just that fast.
Pro 4:24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.
Jas 3:1 My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.
Jas 3:2 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.
Jas 3:3 Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
Jas 3:4 Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
Jas 3:5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
Jas 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
Jas 3:7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
Jas 3:8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
Jas 3:9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
Jas 3:10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
Jas 3:11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
Jas 3:12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.
Wait and let God check you before you open your mouth and you will save yourself from all kinds of trouble. I’ve experienced this from both sides. If you talk when you shouldn’t then there is usually a reaping.
Pro 4:25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
Pro 4:26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
Jer 17:10 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
Help us to ponder that we can have established ways.
Pro 4:27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.
Jer 6:16 Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
We want our ways to be established and our paths to be established. Old paths are eternal. They were from the beginning and they will be forever. We are without excuse because we not only have the Word of God and all the testimonies of the Word of God, but we’ve seen saints go before us that walked the old paths and we’ve seen what it produced in their lives.
That old path is a beaten track. We don’t need to reinvent the path. It has been established. There is a spirit in the world that would like us to think that there is more than one way. This is an old path that has never changed. Seek the old paths. They have never changed and are eternal.
