Bro Gary Wednesday Evening 11/9/11

Bro Gary Wednesday Evening 11/9/11
Isa 6:1  In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
Isa 6:2  Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
Isa 6:3  And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
Isa 6:4  And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
Isa 6:5  Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.
Isa 6:6  Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:
Isa 6:7  And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.
Isa 6:8  Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

Uzziah was born in 808 BC and died in 740 BC.  The reason that this time was crucial was:

We’ve all had experiences as we traveled the road of life of people changing.  When this happens it puts other people in a critical position.  As things change it has an effect on you if the changes are for good and if the changes are for bad it still affects you.

2Ch 26:1  Then all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah.
2Ch 26:2  He built Eloth, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.
2Ch 26:3  Sixteen years old was Uzziah when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and two years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.
2Ch 26:4  And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah did.

Our lives are always made better when we do right and when others do right.  This is just how it is.  When you have a saved boss, they do what is right.  The employees are blessed to have a saved boss.  If we had a saved government it would help our state.  Whenever you have saved people it has a positive effect.

2Ch 26:5  And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper.

Uzziah was young and had a tender heart towards God.  He sought God and listened to what the high priest, Zechariah, had to say.  He desired to know what God was telling his priest.  As long as he sought God, God made Him to prosper.

2Ch 26:16  But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense.

‘But’ means things can get better, and ‘but’ can mean that things get worse.  There are some things that send a quiver to your spirit.  This man had known God.

To everyone in this audience and to the precious children, you are so blessed that you have a mom and dad that teach you about God.  There is one river that you need to drink of often if this is the case, the river of thanksgiving.  There are a lot of rivers that are flowing somewhere.  The river of thanksgiving will cause you to drink of the river of life.

Uzziah started seeking God when he was sixteen years old.  When he sought God, God made him to prosper.  I’m not trying to tell you to not work hard on your job; you need to do a really good job on your job.

A good boss demands a good job.  All you bosses do your employees a favor and demand a high standard.

The older ones will never be young again, do a good job at seeking God when you are young.

Uzziah had been very blessed of God.  He and his men designed weapons that had engines that shot out things to bring protection to them.  He had walked with God and pleased God, but something got a hold of him that he got lifted up and decided that he wouldn’t wait on Zechariah or anyone else, he’d burn incense himself.

2Ch 26:17  And Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him fourscore priests of the LORD, that were valiant men:
2Ch 26:18  And they withstood Uzziah the king, and said unto him, It appertaineth not unto thee, Uzziah, to burn incense unto the LORD, but to the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; neither shall it be for thine honour from the LORD God.
2Ch 26:19  Then Uzziah was wroth, and had a censer in his hand to burn incense: and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy even rose up in his forehead before the priests in the house of the LORD, from beside the incense altar.

It is a very sad thing when an individual does wrong and then when they are reprimanded for them to become angry.

2Ch 26:20  And Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him, and, behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from thence; yea, himself hasted also to go out, because the LORD had smitten him.

Sometimes people take the attitude of, “I’m going to do whatever I want to do, and if things go wrong, I’ll just get right with God and start all over again.”  In this lesson, this king got out of order with God and ended up with leprosy and never got over the leprosy, He died a leper.

There are some things that you don’t ever want to expose yourself to.  Don’t ever open some doors.  What you have vowed to God keep.  What you have vowed to your wife or husband, keep.

When Uzziah was young and tender as he was seeking after God he’d say, “Now God if you will help me…”  God helped him over and over again.

When he got strong he got himself into a position where he didn’t think that he needed the priest.  We need our brothers and sisters, if no other reason because it has a good effect on our heart.

2Ch 26:21  And Uzziah the king was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a several house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the LORD: and Jotham his son was over the king's house, judging the people of the land.

Think of what this man did to himself!  He did it to himself.

Isa 6:1  In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.

When anything gets off course then shipwreck is ahead.  All the foundations of this world are out of course.
Uzziah died with a terrible testimony.  Isaiah came on the scene and the king died having made bad choices.  The question was, “What is going to happen now?”

I believe that Isaiah was a very disappointed man.  Disappointment is a part of life.  As much as you love your wife or children and wouldn’t want to hurt them, disappointment happens.  You may have given your life for your children and sometimes children disappoint you.  You may have given your life for a job and sometimes jobs disappoint you.  You may have given your very best to have a good relationship with someone and sometimes it goes sour.

If you drink of disappointment it will lead you to a river of self pity and that will lead you out to sea.  I believe that Isaiah was really disappointed.

Uzziah started right and made some terrible decisions.  Terrible decisions take people where they don’t want to go and leaves them where they don’t want to stay.  You look upon some people and you wonder how they got there:  Wrong decisions.

“When the outlook is bleak, try the up-look.”  When the outlook is bleak, turn your eyes toward the temple and worship.  It takes discipline to do that.

Isa 6:1  In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.

There would be those in this audience that would say, “I’m at a crucial time in my life.”  Some would say that their son, or daughter, or their friend is at a crucial time in their life.  Some would say that some of their family members had gotten themselves in such a mess that the outlook is bleak.  The outlook is bleak because of bad decisions.

How we need to have contact with God when the outlook is bleak!  Isaiah did the right thing.  He went into the temple and saw the Lord on the throne.

Someone wrote the song that said, “God is still on the throne.”  Things were probably bleak when they wrote that song.

God helped Isaiah to see the seraphims.  They had six wings.

There were more than one angel and they were crying back and forth to each other, “Holy, Holy, Holy…”
Can you just imagine angels around you saying, “Holy, Holy, Holy…”  One from here and another from down a ways …

‘A host’ means an innumerable company of angels.  We don’t know if Isaiah was a little man, medium sized, or a big man.  Can you imagine with the outlook as bleak as it was, the king had died of leprosy, the outlook was bleak, and this man of God went into the temple.

In this gospel day, you can meet with God at any time of the day.  “When the outlook is bleak, try the up-look.”

Isaiah saw God sitting on His throne, he saw the angels.  They then cried and said, “The whole earth is full of His glory.”

Isa 6:4  And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.

Serving God is not about emotions.  The presence of God rearranges things.  God lets some things move so that we will see His power.  There will be changes.  I don’t know what changes will take place.  I don’t know what you might be facing and you don’t know what I might be facing.  When you and I determine that we are going to focus on what God is going to do.  God did not have the thought, “I have to figure out what to do since Isaiah is here.”  God knows what to do.

The moving affected Isaiah.  He said:

Isa 6:5  Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.

Isaiah had a need and was in the right place to get that need met.

Isaiah was right with God.

Isa 6:8  Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

Isaiah heard the voice of the Lord.  Every day there are many voices that want to talk to everyone of us.  Some of the voices are human voices.  Some tell us that we need to be clean, get the groceries, and take care of our correspondence.  I hear that voice telling me, I need to take that garbage out.  My wife seldom tells me to take the garbage out, every once in a while she tells me that she set it outside because it was stinking.

There is another voice that tells us that we need to worship God.  I thought of all God spoke to Isaiah.  He spoke those wonderful words: Isaiah 35, Isaiah 61, and Isaiah 9.

You may have a crisis in your life.  You may be at a crucial time.  When I think of the needs of my family, it is critical.  Some of you have met my sister’s children.  They don’t have a mom or dad to pray for them.  They have made decisions that has caused them to begin drinking of rivers that will take them out to sea.

I hope I never forget the account that Nolan and Mark told of being down in Mexico playing in the ocean.  It was all fun and games, the waves were so fun.  Those waves would come in and pick them up and they would ride them out and then ride them back in.  Soon a big wave came; they were caught in a rip tide.  Soon they found themselves way out in the ocean.  They thought they were done for.

Many times people don’t realize what a critical time it is until they are way out at sea.  You ask, “What shall I do?”

Make sure that you worship God.  Make sure that you see Christ as high and lifted up.  Learn at a young age that “when the outlook is bleak I’m going to take the up-look.”  Determine at a young age that you’re not going to go that way.
