Matthew 5:14-16 KJVR
(14)  Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
(15)  Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
(16)  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Isaiah 62:1-3 KJVR
(1)  For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.
(2)  And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name.
(3)  Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.

Can we say that we are that?  Individually can we look and see that we are a crown of glory in the hand of the Lord or is there something tarnishing that light?

Isaiah 62:6-7 KJVR
(6)  I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence,
(7)  And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.

Make mention of the Lord - We are the Lord’s remembrancers; we are to be a witness of Him to others and tell them of the Lord’s righteousness and of His power and of His salvation.  We need to carry the doctrine out to others and be willing to tell what may not be popular.  We also need to hear what the Lord has to say to us measure to it and not desire a watered down doctrine.

Isaiah 62:8-10 KJVR
(8)  The LORD hath sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, Surely I will no more give thy corn to be meat for thine enemies; and the sons of the stranger shall not drink thy wine, for the which thou hast laboured:
(9)  But they that have gathered it shall eat it, and praise the LORD; and they that have brought it together shall drink it in the courts of my holiness.
(10)  Go through, go through the gates; prepare ye the way of the people; cast up, cast up the highway; gather out the stones; lift up a standard for the people.

We need to gather out the stones, those things that are hindering us in our lives.  We cannot be sympathizing with those that have stones in their lives that need to be gathered out.

Those things that have been there a long time and should not be there become comfortable and they hurt when they are removed.  Those stones are stumbling blocks and they weigh us down and block out the light.  We cannot have them there.

Those stones are flesh; they are of the carnal man, they can be our own desires and ideas that are contrary to the word of God.  Flesh clouds the light.  It is like the suet that builds up on the glass of the lamp and makes it so that the light cannot get out as it should.

A “standard” in Strongs Concordance is defined as something lifted up; it is a flag that is rallied around in battle.  The Word of God is our standard.  Jesus said, “if I be lifted up, I will draw all men to me.”  Jesus is the Word of God.

Isaiah 62:11-12 KJVR
(11)  Behold, the LORD hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
(12)  And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken.

Philippians 2:1-16 KJVR
(1)  If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
(2)  Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
(3)  Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
(4)  Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
(5)  Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
(6)  Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
(7)  But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
(8)  And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
(9)  Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
(10)  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
(11)  And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
(12)  Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
(13)  For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
(14)  Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
(15)  That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
(16)  Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

We need to be likeminded with Christ.  We need to carry the message out and if there is anything that hinders or takes a more important spot in our lives then we need to remove the stone.

It is easy to submit to the pastor and the Word of God and the body when it is what we agree with.  When it crosses what we want, it is more difficult.  In our literal job when our boss tells us something that we don’t agree with, we cannot just go our own way and push past his direction.  By the same token, We must show forth the righteousness of God and have a vision of what God wants us to do.  As a servant, we cannot break rank and be disobedient to the Word of God.

Isaiah 2:2-5 KJVR
(2)  And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD'S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.
(3)  And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
(4)  And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
(5)  O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.

If we want to be a light to the world, we must walk in the light of the Word of God.

Matthew 4:23 KJVR
(23)  And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

Matthew 28:18-20 KJVR
(18)  And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
(19)  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
(20)  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

He gave us a command to go, but we don’t have to be alone; He promised to be with us.
There will be opposition.  Opposition doesn’t’ relieve us of the responsibility of going out and carrying the message.

Eph 6:18  Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Eph 6:19  And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
Eph 6:20  For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
Paul wanted them to pray for all the saints and to pray for him too.

We are ambassadors for God.  An ambassador is sent from one country to another to help maintain communication and peace between the two countries.  We are here to make peace, to get people to be at peace with God.  Sin keeps people from being at peace with God.  We’re here to take the message of holiness to people so that they can be at peace with God.

Colossians 4:5-6 KJVR
(5)  Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.
(6)  Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

As we go about our day, we need to always be ready to be a witness to those around us.  Our speech can be such a hindrance.  As we go about our day and things happen, we need to show forth Christ in all our actions and speech.  We don’t want to show forth the flesh.

1Pe 3:15  But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
1Pe 3:16  Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.

We want to be sure that any bad report of us that goes to others is a false report.  Live so that we can say in complete honesty that, “That is a false report.”

1 John 1:1 KJVR
(1)  That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;

It must be a personal testimony.  Our testimony must be our personal experience what we have seen, what we have looked upon, what we have handled.  This is what we must carry out to others.  We don’t want people to gather with us and lift us up; we want them to be children of God and a part of the family of God, the goal is to introduce them to the Father.

1 John 1:2-3 KJVR
(2)  (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
(3)  That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

John 4:28-30 KJVR
(28)  The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,
(29)  Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
(30)  Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.

John 4:39-41 KJVR
(39)  And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
(40)  So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
(41)  And many more believed because of his own word;

She brought them to Jesus and they believed because of His Word.  We want people to get to God so that they know for themselves that this is true.  So that they experience for themselves what we’ve experienced and know that it is true.

Titus 2:11-13 KJVR
(11)  For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
(12)  Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
(13)  Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

The Spirit of God has already talked to people; He is faithful.  They often don’t recognize why they are uncomfortable and dissatisfied with what they are doing or how they are living.

Titus 2:13-15 KJVR
(13)  Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
(14)  Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
(15)  These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

If people get offended by the truth, don’t let it silence you.  We cannot let it silence us, that is their only hope.

Luke 24:44-49 KJVR
(44)  And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
(45)  Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
(46)  And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
(47)  And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
(48)  And ye are witnesses of these things.
(49)  And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

We need the Spirit of God working through us in order for us to carry this message out.  They were cowering in the upper room until the power of God came upon them.  When they received the Spirit of God they didn’t stay up in the upper room preaching and holding holiness meetings.  They went out and preached.  The Spirit of God was more powerful than the fear that they’d had before.

Mark 13:10-11 KJVR
(10)  And the gospel must first be published among all nations.
(11)  But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.

We will not be successful in our own strength.

John 10:41 “John did no miracle but all things that John spoke of this man were true.”
John’s main business was to bear witness to the light.
Be willing only to be a voice, heard and not seen, a mirror whose surface is not seen because of the glorious reflection of the light.
At my death, I would prefer to have no great stone raised above my grave but simple souls gather and say, “He wrought no miracle but I was led to Christ through what he taught.”
