Sister Dorothy Sunday School 12/14/14
Temptations come to all of us. The enemy will tempt us one way and if it
doesn’t work then he will flip it around and try it another way. God’s plan is that we be as He created Adam
and Eve. He is not willing that any
perish, but that we be lined up with His plan.
Temptations means the test of an alien personality of the
possessions held by another personality.
This week the enemy tempted me this way, I was thinking of
the lesson and all at once my mind went to, “this is so simple, all the saints
know this.” You see how he works? Then a scripture came to me:
2Pe 3:17
Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these
things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of
the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
Beware. Ye know these
things. You know that the enemy is a
tempter; he will work on you. Once you
are saved, you have great possessions.
Possessions are something that we hold.
If we treasure a possession, we are very careful with it. We put it where it will not be broken and
kind of hide it in a way because it is so precious to us.
These treasures that the Lord has given us through salvation
and sanctification are so precious that I cannot be persuaded to lose them. The one that found the treasure in the field
sold everything they had, they sold out, to buy this beautiful treasure.
There are two cleansings that we must come to realize. We first of all repent, have godly sorrow. We become justified, our sins are forgiven.
The second cleansing is that we get rid of our self and
commit everything to Him so that He can come and cleans out that adamic nature
that we were born with. He cleanses it
out and makes us just how Adam and Eve were created.
First in justification we need to realize that we are a
sinner. Some will say, “I am a good
person.” All have sinned. (When we get saved it doesn’t mean that we
keep on sinning, that is just an excuse.)
Godly sorrow works carefulness, clearing of ourselves,
indignation, fear, vehement desire, repentance, peace…
We will carefully clear our self, carefully have
indignation, carefully fear, and carefully repent.
Zeal means heat, ardor, jealousy, emulate – stimulate and
work alongside to jealousy.
This is not carnal jealousy.
It is to be fervent. Passionate
ardor in the pursuit of anything.
Fervency, earnestness, enthusiasm.
After justification, what we didn’t once care for or failed
to do, all at once we want to do it.
Ecc 9:10
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it
with thy might; for there is no work,
nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
Rom 12:11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit;
serving the Lord;
1Co 14:12 Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of
spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel
to the edifying of the church.
Psa 119:139 My zeal hath consumed me, because mine
enemies have forgotten thy words.
Joh 4:35
Say not ye, There are yet four months, and
then cometh
harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for
they are white already to harvest.
This ought to give us a zeal. Souls are lost. I went to a funeral the other day and was so
sad. Honest seeking souls are lost, led
astray.
In Justification:
1.
Rom 10:1 Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God
for Israel is, that they might be saved.
We desire all men to be saved.
Rom 11:14 If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of
them.
2.
Godly sorrow works peace.
Rom 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have
peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
There is nothing like it when you
get saved, repent, and have that godly sorrow that breaks you up in there and
you know that your sins are forgiven, what peace! The angel said, “Peace on earth, good will to
men.” Not only in our heart, but there
is peace with our fellow man.
There is not all that jangling, the
things that go on and agitate, there is peace.
3.
We become fruitful.
Mat 12:33 Either make the tree
good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt:
for the tree is known by his fruit.
Mat 12:34 O generation of
vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of
the heart the mouth speaketh.
Mat 12:35 A good man out of the
good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of
the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
Mat 12:36 But I say unto you,
That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in
the day of judgment.
Mat 12:37 For by thy words thou
shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
We want to be fruitful. When we are saved, we do become
fruitful. An abundance comes out and no
corruption comes out. It is good
fruit. God wants us to be good fruit
bearers.
We are all producing fruit. “By their fruit you shall know them.” No matter who you come in contact with, test
their fruit. God gives us so many
natural things that come right over into our spiritual understanding. It is wonderful how He takes our simple minds
and brings it over into what we can understand.
4. Love for the Lord and Neighbor:
Luk 10:27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the
Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy
strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
There is something about when we
get saved, the love for God and our neighbor.
5.
There is no more condemnation
Rom 8:1 There is
therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not
after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Condemnation is not fun. It is very taxing. Isn’t it wonderful that there is no
condemnation? It is where the peace
comes in.
Joh 5:24
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth
my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall
not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
Act 24:16 And herein do I exercise myself, to have
always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward
men.
It is such a privilege we have when
we get our sins forgiven. Hove our
conscience void of offence.
6.
Our names are written in heaven
Luk 10:20 Notwithstanding in
this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice,
because your names are written in heaven.
Written in heaven: there is a new name written down in glory and
it is mine.

New born babes desire nourishment.
1Pe 2:2
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow
thereby:
The first thing a new babe wants is
to suckle. It is born in them. When we get saved it is the same. “I am the bread of life.” He is where we get the nourishment.
Sister Teri: when I first desired
to get saved, I started to read the bible but didn’t get anything from it so I
stopped reading it. After I got saved,
it was hard to stop reading it, God opened my understanding and there was a
hunger to know. There is a vast
difference when we are saved, there is an automatic hunger that way. We get nourishment and it is not an empty
thing that we are feeding on. It
satisfies our soul and provides nourishment.
Brother Bill: The key is for people to get saved. Sometimes people have the attitude, “I can
never go that way because I could never live that, my desire is too much to
this or that worldly thing.” If any be
in Christ He is a new creature, old things pass away and all things become
new. Even our desire changes. The things that we used to give into before
we don’t have to strive and struggle with it.
He changes our desire.
Mar 4:26
And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a
man should cast seed into the ground;
Mar 4:27
And should sleep, and rise night and day, and
the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.
The kingdom of God is set up where we can let God do the
changes in our heart. It is not a
struggle anymore. We have the
responsibility to take care of our soul. But God will help us. The key is for people to just do the first
step and then God will help us with the other stuff. We are a different person. If we are not, then something is wrong and we
need to seek until we become a different person in Jesus. He made us so that we could be come in His
image and could be made again in His image.
Which is sinless.
8.
Birth – life bringing into life. A dead mother cannot bring forth life. Life brings forth life.
A new birth – bringing into life
from God. It must come from God. We can try to make our self over, and many
do, but it just doesn’t accomplish that new birth. It must come from God.
1Jn 5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given
to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
1Jn 5:12
He that hath the Son hath life; and
he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
Bringing into life from God.
Joh 3:3
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily,
verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom
of God.
Nicodemas had no understanding,
“How can a man be born again? I am a
full grown man, how can this happen?” It
is not a fleshly thing, it must be done from God.
Verse 6: When the Spirit of God breaths upon our soul
it restores life. We were dead in our
trespasses and sins.
Sanctification:
1Th 4:3
For this is the will of God, even
your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
We must realize that we need to be sanctified once we are
saved. It takes a definite dealing with
our heart to realize that there is something missing. “I am thankful that I have all these
possessions that I have through justification, but there is something not quite
satisfied.”
If you were saved and sanctified and then lost out with God
and let the tempter take all your possessions, then you lose all your
possessions. It shouldn’t take long
until you realize that you need God to have those possessions.
Col 3:10
And have put on the new man,
which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
Put on the new man that is renewed in knowledge. God gives us knowledge. That is the Spirit of God. He works that way. The world is saying, “We are created in the
image of God.” Adam was, but we are not
born into that image, we are born into the image of Adam.
We must realize that, we must face reality. There is a separation between the spiritual
and the natural things of life. We can
understand something naturally but when the Spirit brings it then we realize it
more than just naturally.
Eph 2:3
Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts
of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by
nature the children of wrath, even as others.
We have to realize that our nature was fulfilling all these
things of the flesh. We have to realize,
“No more, this is not God’s will; this is not how we should live.” By being nourished by the spirit and wanting
to grow, we find a scripture like this and it helps us to realize that we need
to go on and have that cleansed out.
The Holy Spirit of Promise seals us. It protects us. Just like with the canning process so that
things don’t spoil. Sanctification helps
us to be sealed so that we don’t go back.
Heat is important in the canning process. God wants to preserve and keep us. We have to let Him put the heat on.
To completely give up the right to myself. Adam and Eve didn’t even think about
themselves. They were going on day to
day, walking with God and having communion with God. They didn’t think, “I have some rights
here.” Until the enemy came along. The enemy was able to cause Eve to feel that
she had a right to the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
We have to give up the rights of our self up to God: Thinking that we have a right to do or be as
we are needs to be given up to God.
