Brother Danny Sanders Sunday Night 11/4/12
Our burden tonight is to talk about a willing heart.
Exo 35:1 And Moses gathered all the congregation of
the children of Israel together, and said unto them, These are the words which the LORD hath commanded, that
ye should do them.
Exo 35:2 Six days shall work be done, but on the
seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the LORD:
whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death.
Exo 35:3 Ye shall kindle no fire throughout your
habitations upon the sabbath day.
Exo 35:4 And Moses spake unto all the congregation of
the children of Israel, saying, This is
the thing which the LORD commanded, saying,
Exo 35:5 Take ye from among you an offering unto the
LORD: whosoever is of a willing heart,
let him bring it, an offering of the LORD; gold, and silver, and brass,
Exo 35:6 And blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine
linen, and goats' hair,
Exo 35:7 And rams' skins dyed red, and badgers' skins,
and shittim wood,
Exo 35:8 And oil for the light, and spices for
anointing oil, and for the sweet incense,
Exo 35:9 And onyx stones, and stones to be set for the
ephod, and for the breastplate.
Exo 35:10 And every wise hearted among you shall come,
and make all that the LORD hath commanded;
This passage helps us to understand that in the building of
God’s church and in the administration if it, we will need a willing
heart. The people were excited to help
build. Are you excited to help build
God’s church? No doubt as Moses laid out
the plan different hearts started thinking of what they might do to help.
You hear about a rest-home opening up or a bible story
starting in a different area and you think, “I’d like to get into that.” You see excitement and a willing heart.
Moses spoke to the whole congregation. We are all in this together. We are laborers together. Everyone in this building has a part to play
in the building of God’s church.
The children have a part, the young married ones, and the
elders. Everyone can and does have a
part in building God’s church. Everyone
has something to offer. You don’t have
to know how to sing, or play an instrument.
God can find a place for you in His body and you can have a part in His
service.
The plan was distinct, “this is the thing which the lord
commanded, saying…” Christ’s ministry
was spent laying out his plan. Why He
came, how we should live and what we should do… throughout the word we see
God’s plan.
Exo 35:10 And every wise hearted among you shall come,
and make all that the LORD hath commanded;
The needs are many and are very specific. There is still a great deal of needs around
us. All we have to do is look
around. The wise-hearted are those that
through diligent effort and investing their time: they had become skillful laborers. There is no such thing as being unemployed in
God’s church. We all have a part. We don’t want to become unemployed in the
things of God.
Exo 35:11 The tabernacle, his tent, and his covering,
his taches, and his boards, his bars, his pillars, and his sockets,
Exo 35:12 The ark, and the staves thereof, with the mercy seat, and the vail of the
covering,
Exo 35:13 The table, and his staves, and all his
vessels, and the shewbread,
Exo 35:14 The candlestick also for the light, and his
furniture, and his lamps, with the oil for the light,
Exo 35:15 And the incense altar, and his staves, and
the anointing oil, and the sweet incense, and the hanging for the door at the
entering in of the tabernacle,
Exo 35:16 The altar of burnt offering, with his brasen
grate, his staves, and all his vessels, the laver and his foot,
Exo 35:17 The hangings of the court, his pillars, and
their sockets, and the hanging for the door of the court,
Exo 35:18 The pins of the tabernacle, and the pins of
the court, and their cords,
Exo 35:19 The cloths of service, to do service in the
holy place, the holy garments for Aaron
the priest, and the garments of his sons, to minister in the priest's office.
We just read of numerous needs. Wise hearted: not everyone is doing the same
thing, it takes diversity, no one person can do the whole job. It takes everyone in the body doing their
part to be successful. Brother Gary
cannot do it all.
Rom 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me,
to every man that is among you, not to think of
himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly,
according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
Rom 12:4 For as we have many members in one body, and
all members have not the same office:
Rom 12:5 So we, being
many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
Rom 12:6 Having then gifts differing according to the
grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us
prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
Rom 12:7 Or ministry, let
us wait on our ministering:
or he that teacheth, on teaching;
Rom 12:8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that
giveth, let him do it with simplicity;
he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.
Rom 12:9 Let
love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which
is good.
Rom 12:10 Be
kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one
another;
We don’t all have the same function, not everyone can play
the organ or the guitar. One of the
reasons that God’s church can be successful is that we honor one another. We want to see others prosper and the church
grow.
Rom 12:11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit;
serving the Lord;
Rom 12:12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation;
continuing instant in prayer;
Rom 12:13 Distributing to the necessity of saints;
given to hospitality.
God has a plan to provide for every need. We need to contribute so that we might be the
wise hearted. It is not our special
talent, it is not us; it is God that qualifies.
Exo 35:29 The children of Israel brought a willing
offering unto the LORD, every man and woman, whose heart made them willing to
bring for all manner of work, which the LORD had commanded to be made by the
hand of Moses.
Exo 35:30 And Moses said unto the children of Israel,
See, the LORD hath called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of
the tribe of Judah;
Exo 35:31 And he hath filled him with the spirit of
God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of
workmanship;
Exo 35:32 And to devise curious works, to work in gold,
and in silver, and in brass,
Exo 35:33 And in the cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of wood, to make any manner
of cunning work.
Exo 35:34 And he hath put in his heart that he may
teach, both he, and Aholiab, the son of
Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan.
Exo 35:35 Them hath he filled with wisdom of heart, to
work all manner of work, of the engraver, and of the cunning workman, and of
the embroiderer, in blue, and in purple, in scarlet, and in fine linen, and of
the weaver, even of them that do any
work, and of those that devise cunning work.
When God has a work, He will qualify and He will call by the
infilling of the Holy Spirit. He will
give wisdom, understanding, and knowledge with all manner of workmanship. When you were building the facility here it
took all manner of workmanship.
The ministry of God’s church takes all manner of
workmanship. God is still building His
church. Are you and I connecting with
the need. Do we have a burden for the
work at hand? Do we have a willing
heart? We cannot assume that someone
else will take up the burden. God is still
qualifying the willing-hearted.
How would it have been if Moses, Joshua, and others hadn‘t
had a willing heart? If we don’t do our
part then someone else will take up that part and it will cause some to be worn
out. We want to share the load; we want
everyone getting in there and getting it done.
The great thing about everyone pulling together and answering the call
is that the results produce something.
The walls of Jericho coming down took everyone doing their
role. Everyone had to act according to
God’s plan. The result was success, the
walls fell. Following God’s plan will
cause the walls to fall.
Knock down the walls of depression, oppression and take back
the city of faith, encouragement with a willing heart. God will bless when we all come
together.
Exo 36:1 Then wrought Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every
wise hearted man, in whom the LORD put wisdom and understanding to know how to
work all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary, according to all that
the LORD had commanded.
Exo 36:2 And Moses called Bezaleel and Aholiab, and
every wise hearted man, in whose heart the LORD had put wisdom, even every one whose heart stirred him up to come
unto the work to do it:
Exo 36:3 And they received of Moses all the offering,
which the children of Israel had brought for the work of the service of the
sanctuary, to make it withal. And they
brought yet unto him free offerings every morning.
Exo 36:4 And all the wise men, that wrought all the
work of the sanctuary, came every man from his work which they made;
Exo 36:5 And they spake unto Moses, saying, The people
bring much more than enough for the service of the work, which the LORD
commanded to make.
Exo 36:6 And Moses gave commandment, and they caused
it to be proclaimed throughout the camp, saying, Let neither man nor woman make
any more work for the offering of the sanctuary. So the people were restrained
from bringing.
Exo 36:7 For the stuff they had was sufficient for all
the work to make it, and too much.
This is a good problem to have. Every need was being met because it was a
complete work, because everyone was working together. Where a complete work is there is a condition
where God’s presence can fill the building and God’s presence can provide.
Exo 40:33 And he reared up the court round about the
tabernacle and the altar, and set up the hanging of the court gate. So Moses
finished the work.
Exo 40:34 Then a cloud covered the tent of the
congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
We need to be studying the Bible like we might not have it
any more and will need to pass it on to others by word of mouth. I want my heart to be stirred up for the Word
of God.
Exo 35:20 And all the congregation of the children of
Israel departed from the presence of Moses.
Exo 35:21 And they came, every one whose heart stirred
him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and
they brought the LORD'S offering to the work of the tabernacle of the
congregation, and for all his service, and for the holy garments.
They came: everyman who’s heart stirred him up.
I want to be engaged in what is going on. When brother Goble says that there will be a
Friday night cottage meeting every other week and ask who is interested, I want
my hand to go up, I want to be involved.
How do we do? If the
need services and the work is presented, are we spontaneous and of a willing
heart? In our search are we responsive
to the work as the need is presented
The people brought a willing offering. There was no force. Just do what you can. God wants us to do what we can, when we can,
and have a willing heart. We don’t have
to be the best at something in order to do it.
So what if you stumble a little bit, it doesn’t matter if
you are not the best at a bible study.
Have a study anyway. There are a
lot of ways to work and to learn and to allow ourselves to learn. We must have a willing heart.
Exo 35:22 And they came, both men and women, as many as
were willing hearted, and brought
bracelets, and earrings, and rings, and tablets, all jewels of gold: and every
man that offered offered an offering of
gold unto the LORD.
Exo 35:23 And every man, with whom was found blue, and
purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' hair,
and red skins of rams, and badgers' skins, brought them.
Exo 35:24 Every one that did offer an offering of
silver and brass brought the LORD'S offering: and every man, with whom was
found shittim wood for any work of the service, brought it.
Exo 35:25 And all the women that were wise hearted did
spin with their hands, and brought that which they had spun, both of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, and of fine linen.
Exo 35:26 And all the women whose heart stirred them up
in wisdom spun goats' hair.
They each did what they could. This is all that God is looking for, for each
one to just do what they can.
Exo 35:27 And the rulers brought onyx stones, and
stones to be set, for the ephod, and for the breastplate;
Even the rulers did their part. No one objected; these were unselfish
offerings. They were all working
together. This is still God’s plan: that
we would connect; come together and meet the need whatever the need it.
Look around; see the children here that are counting on
you. You want to see the church continue?
then you must continue. One of these
days they will grow up and follow our example.
Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some,
prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
Eph 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the
work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Eph 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith,
and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of
the stature of the fulness of Christ:
Eph 4:14 That we henceforth
be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of
doctrine, by the sleight of men, and
cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
Eph 4:15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up
into him in all things, which is the head, even
Christ:
Eph 4:16 From whom the whole body fitly joined
together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the
effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body
unto the edifying of itself in love.
God is still providing these gifts for the work of the ministry,
for the perfecting of the body…
Exo 35:27 And the rulers brought onyx stones, and
stones to be set, for the ephod, and for the breastplate;
The rulers gave up their jewels. Is it time for you and I to give up ours? to give up those things that are precious to
us? Whatever the need is; send me. I’m not going to maul it over in my mind. Whatever
God says, that is what I want to do.
Right away!
If God would have you work in a specific position, challenge
yourself, is there anything that would hold me back?
When God called the disciples, they literally left
everything. They were employed, they had
families, they had possessions; they left their nets immediately. Jesus didn’t supply a job description. They left without a thought to future
security. They weren’t given, “This is
where you are going to live and here is where you will have food.” They left everything.
They met with adversity; we have too. We’ve had heartbreak; we’ve been
disappointed. We’ve wanted someone to
come in to church; they have said yes I will be there and then they didn’t come. We must have a willing heart. Go back again, when no one is home, go back
again. Keep pressing. Have a willing heart.
It is worth it.
Someone had a burden for you.
Someone had a willing heart and was willing to go the extra mile. Willing hearts will still produce sufficient
for all the work.
