Brother Gary Wednesday Evening 10/3/12
We live in a day when even people with the handle of ‘holiness
people’ don’t have any faith in God. This
is a dangerous situation: to not have faith in God.
Eph 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord,
and in the power of his might.
We want to be well aware that we are living in perilous
times. The enemy is out to try to weaken
us spiritually, distract us spiritually, and to take away our faith in
God. I read in Sister E. Faith Stewart’s
book, Living Faith, “living faith makes God real.” You and I know that to be true. We want to have living faith and to have God
real in our lives.
Jud 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on
your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
Lots of bad things are going on in the world and in the
religious world. One of the reasons that
men and women’s faith fails is that they failed to pray in the Holy Ghost. This lip praying is not enough.
Build ourselves up. The
enemy is out to magnify the weaknesses of every person in this congregation. He will magnify that weakness to the
individual and he will magnify it to others and will hinder as many souls as he
possibly can. We don’t make excuse for
weakness, but if we see a brother and sister overtaken in a fault we are to
restore. Nitpicking and faultfinding is
a definite earmark of not praying in the Holy Ghost.
Beyond the shadow of a doubt, heaven will be worth any cost
and any sacrifice. Humility doesn’t cost
so much. Why care about what people
think; what can we do about what people think anyway? If we worry our mind with that we will wear
it out before we retire.
Building up yourself by praying in the Holy Ghost. This is the challenge for today.
Jud 1:21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking
for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
May we keep our love for God and the saints engaged.
Mar 11:22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
If you have children then you will hear of dilemmas in their
life. This doesn’t necessarily have to
be a crisis but many times it is. We all
face things that we don’t have the resources to take care of. Sometimes we lack the wisdom to know how to
handle things. There are things that we
don’t have the answer to.
Everywhere we look, we see individuals that are perplexed
with situations that they don’t have the answer to. We don’t flip them counsel; that is
dangerous. The one thing that we can use
in our lives when we are in a dilemma and for other individuals is to point
them to Jesus.
Use the opportunity to say, “I hope you have faith in God, I
have faith in God and I’m going to pray that God will help you in that situation.”
God has helped sinners over and over again.
When faith is under attack, God has given you and I tools
that we can take the shield of faith and quench all the fiery darts of the
enemy.
Mar 11:23 For verily I say unto
you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou
cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that
those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he
saith.
We will have mountains in our life as we travel the highway
of holiness. They will be there to see
if we will use faith to believe God to have our mountains removed.
Mar 11:24 Therefore I say unto
you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive
them, and ye
shall have them.
The enemy wants to get us humming along, just going through a
singsong prayer as just a verbatim expression.
That will not get the job done.
When you really desire something, when you really have a need, all of us
have walked into a business and wanted something that the person that is trying
to help you doesn’t think that they have.
You know that they have it. You
ask, “Can we just look around and see if it is there?”
If you really need something then you press
to see if that need can be supplied.
If you need something bad enough you will put forth
effort. Don’t be satisfied in prayer
until you know that God has heard your prayer.
“What you desire when you pray believe…”
There are times when we put things before God and we leave
them there and we say amen. There are
other times when we say, “I’m in desperate need and I am not satisfied to just pray
and get up.” We stay there until we can
say, “Amen and amen.” We not only have
prayed, but we know that the prayer has been answered.
Pray until you know that God has heard that prayer. The length of the prayer doesn’t matter. Amen I asked, and amen it is granted.
Mar 11:25 And when ye stand
praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is
in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
You may have been beat up by whomever recently but forgive
them. If they owe you an apology then
forgive them of that too. Let them pack
that around, you don’t have to.
Mar 11:26 But if ye do not
forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
We are blessed to be able to pray. There is mighty value in prayer. I need you to pray for me. We want to do our best all the days of our
life.
