Brother Rick Wednesday Evening 5/16/12

Brother Rick Wednesday Evening 5/16/12

Nebuchadnezzar was a bossy man that wanted things just the way that he wanted and no other.  When he had his troubling dream and didn’t know what it meant he thought the magicians, astrologers, sorcerers, and Chaldeans should tell him.

We should never go to a bad source for answers in our life.  Only wisdom from God will give us the answers that we need.  When we know the answer is from God then we know it is right.  If there is something that you don’t understand that happens in your life then go to God for direction.

Daniel had attributes in his life that gave him confidence to go to God for the interpretation.  We can expect largely from God if we are living like Daniel.  We can expect miracles in our life if we are living the way that Christ wants us to.

Mar 10:27  And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.

Daniel proved that this verse was true.  He had faith in God.  We want to have faith like Daniel.  We want to live godly and saintly in this world so our faith can grow and we can have faith like Daniel.  It was a miracle for Daniel to be able to know the dream and interpret it.  If the sorcerers had known the dream they may have come up with an interpretation.  But because of God Daniel was able to know the dream and the interpretation.

Daniel had self control.  He would not defile himself with the king’s meat; he wanted to do what was right.
He had courage.  When he had to interpret the handwriting on the wall he had to tell the king, Belshazzar that his kingdom would be overthrown.  At that time the king could have had Daniel killed.

We will have to have courage too.  People that are living for God are few; the majority is just following after the world.  We must have courage as Daniel so that if others are doing wrong we can stand up for right.

Daniel had integrity.  When Daniel was president in the land some of the other presidents and rulers were jealous of him and could find no fault with him.  They tried to get him in trouble by making a rule against praying.  He didn’t let that keep him from praying.  He left the window open and prayed anyway.

It may be hard for us to pray sometimes when others are not praying, we can’t let that hinder us.  We need to pray anyway.

Humility is a wonderful attribute.  When Daniel interpreted the dream and the king praised him, Daniel gave credit to God.  God wants us to realize that wisdom comes from Him.  We have no wisdom of our own.  Wisdom comes from God.

Daniel had spiritual vision.  We can know that God has good things up ahead for us if we have faith in God.  Daniel had obedience.  It was his whole life, serving God.

Daniel had love; he had an excellent spirit.  If we have God’s Spirit in our life then we can have an excellent spirit too.  I want to be careful l what I say and what I do.  I don’t want to just say and do anything; I want to have an excellent spirit as Daniel did.

Daniel had an excellent spirit of love.  He was brought into favor even of those that were ruling over him.  He was easy to love.  If we can have these good attributes like Daniel then we can expect God to do good things for us too.

It would be impossible to interpret a dream like Daniel did without God.  We want to live faithful to God so that He can use us as He did Daniel.  Daniel not only saved the lives of his own people but also of all the other counselors.  We want to be used of God.

Daniel was wise enough to know that real wisdom comes from God.  Let’s not think that we are anything, because we are nothing without God.

When great demands are put upon us: we all will be in situations where it is difficult for us to know what to do.  When we are there, God will not fail us.  When an answer comes from God then it will be right.  We can have confidence and can relax in His counsel.  It may not be the answer that you wanted but you know that it is right.

Prayer brings an answer from God.  We should always give God credit when our prayers are answered.

Dan 2:17  Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions:
Dan 2:18  That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.
Dan 2:19  Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

They did it together.  Daniel brought the request to his brethren and they all prayed about it.  They all worked together for the answer.  We need each other.  The answer came by them seeking God together.
