Brother Gary Wednesday Evening 5/30/12

Brother Gary Wednesday Evening 5/30/12
Php 1:14  And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
Php 1:15  Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:
Php 1:16  The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:
Php 1:17  But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.
Php 1:18  What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.
Php 1:19  For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

Paul was saying that even though he was a prisoner, God was giving some open doors.  And others seeing this were encouraged to be more bold.  Because of this, he was rejoicing in his bonds.  He was happy because Jesus was being preached.

Verse 19: through your prayer.  Paul was saved by a marvelous intervention.  He was sanctified too but he was saying that their prayers were going to work to his help.

Verse 19: And the supply of the Spirit:  It is so wonderful that the Holy Spirit can supply what you and I need for the situation that God allows us to be in.  Some of you dear saints were able to be at the memorial of Anne Sheppard.  Some situations are more pronounced as needy than others.  The Holy Spirit was given so that it could supply to you and me what we need.

This is going to turn to good, he says, by your prayer and the work that the Holy Spirit will do.  The Holy Spirit makes intercession for us when we pray.  We often don’t know how to pray but the Holy Spirit makes intercession for us.

Php 1:20  According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

We have hope.  The Holy Spirit has a way of moving on us to have expectation.  If you don’t expect anything from God then you will not get anything from God.  If you are expecting then there is hope.

He was expecting through the prayers of the saints and through the Holy Spirit that in nothing he’d be ashamed.

In life every one of us has burdens that are from God and also we have the knowledge of needs that we’d like to see met and we’d like to meet those needs.  They may be emotional, financial, or spiritual needs.  The Holy Spirit of God can give us strength, wisdom, and the open door to do what he wants us to do so that as Paul was exhorting us: in nothing we will be ashamed.

We all know dear saints that are isolated, in difficulty, or laid aside.  It is a wonderful thing when we know this intellectually and our heart is, “God I want to do whatever you’d want me to do.”  The Bible teaches us to do good and communicate.

It is so amazing how when God lays a burden on our heart, whomever it may be in this audience, there is something about the saints praying and the Holy Spirit working within us that in ‘nothing shall I be ashamed.’

There are a lot of things that we cannot supply for others.  We cannot supply everything that others need.  What God wants us to do, if we will stay rightly related to Him, if we will be righteous, doing what is right toward God then doing what is right toward our brother, when we have it in our heart that we want to be righteous with God with others and with the world, when we do this then with the prayers of the saints and the supply of the Holy Spirit, ‘in nothing I shall be ashamed.’  Isn’t that wonderful!

Php 2:1  If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,

There is consolation in Christ.  There is comfort in love.  There is something about the comfort of love.  The Holy Spirit spreads abroad the love of God.  God gives love.

We can fellowship the Holy Spirit!  This one that is interceding for me, this one that is of the Father and of the Son, we can fellowship with Him.

Three times in the book of Philippians Paul used a word that was translated ‘Supply’.

Php 2:30  Because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.

Paul was saying, “You saints were not able to meet all of our needs.”  Sometimes the Philippians are not able to meet all of our needs.  This is the reason that none of us is anyone’s savior.  As much as we love we will not be able to meet all of anyone’s needs.

Php 4:19  But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

God is able to supply everything that I need.   My greatest needs are not tangible.  Our greatest need is God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit of God.

Brother Gary Sunday Morning 5/27/12

Brother Gary Sunday Morning 5/27/12
Rev 12:1  And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:

The woman represents God’s church here on earth.  The sun represents the New Testament and the moon represents the Old.  It was God’s design that produced this beautiful woman.  It is the Word of God, the Spirit of God, and prayer that brought forth.

This beautiful woman stands on the moon.  There were many men and woman that prayed earnestly before Jesus came.  In the days of Noah, Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.  He did this because he communed and walked with God.

Moses’ parents were given a son in a difficult time of history.  In his time the decree was that all the boy babies should not live.  God mercifully allowed his parents to have their son given back to them.  Even when Moses was taken from the home later, their prayers were working and God was working.

How Hannah longed for a child in a difficult time spiritually.  God was still God.  He looked on the heart-cry of Hannah and gave her a son, Samuel.

King David was definitely a man of prayer.  We’re glad that he was and he recorded a lot of prayers.  His son Solomon’s heart was turned toward God and he sought Him for what could only come from God.  God granted him his requests.

Hos 14:1  O Israel, return unto the LORD thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity.
Hos 14:2  Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips.

It is a wonderful attribute of any man or woman of God: parents, teachers...  It is a wonderful attribute of men and women to elevate prayer.

Pray, “Take away all iniquity” and ask God to receive us graciously.

We pray and ask a lot of God and of each other.  When I ask you to remember a prayer request I’m asking a lot.  When you bring a prayer request in, I appreciate it.  Many that you request are out of my circle of life.  Your request reminds me to pray for these dear ones.

After we have prayed and God answers, may God help us to turn and render the calves of our lips in thanksgiving.  There is no work too little to give God praise.

In the Gospel Day there was a priest by name Zacharias.  He was doing his turn of offering incense in the temple.  While he was there he was visited by Gabriel who told Zacharias that he was going to have a son in his old age.  God has great respect of you and I praying and worshipping God in prayer.

The church was to be clothed in the sun.

Mat 4:16  The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

This light happened when Jesus passed by them.  We in this audience will each have Jesus pass by, whether we are saved or unsaved.  He is the light of the world.  Darkness oppresses and depresses souls.  It comes with such strong unbelief that they feel that there is no way that they can change.  The miracle is not in what they are able to do, but that Jesus passes by and brings light and hope to them.

Mat 6:6  But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

I cannot stress enough the importance of prayer this morning.  In order to pray and commune with God there must be the humbling before God in confessing and repenting and turning toward God.  After we are saved there is the desperate need to discipline and train our self to enter into the closet and shut the door.

We each have our own mind and the ability to reason but it is in the secret communion with God where God shows us His way that is much better than our way.

Isa 55:8  For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
Isa 55:9  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Every one of us makes the choice of reasoning things out our way, and God will not argue with us.  You can choose your own way, but if you choose your own way, study what the Bible teaches that your reward will be.

When you choose God’s way you say, “God you created me and you know what is best.  You know how to instruct me in this higher way.”

God wants you in the closet by yourself praying.  He wants you to shut the door of all your cares, problems and decisions.  You say, “God I want to spend this time with you.  I’m here because I need something from God and you have instructed me to enter the closet and shut the door.”

Mat 6:7  But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Mat 6:8  Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

God doesn’t want vain repetitions but He wants us to enter into the closet in reality.  Not praying the prayer that is 20 years old of bless, bless, bless.  No, praying, “God I believe that you have new things for me to pray about today.  I’m here to receive from you.”

Through prayer He helps our infirmities so that instead of our hindering ourselves with our infirmities and stumbling over them.  He is there to help us through our infirmities.  God wants you to mature so that when you enter into the closet you are not praying the selfish prayer that you were when you will a little boy or girl.  God wants us to pray the prayers of a mature Christian.

When we come to the Father in prayer, we pray, “Our Father.”  This takes the barriers away that are between different skin colors or cultures.  He is our Father.  They are our brother.  That individual that is of a different personality… leave it alone, he is my brother.

If we become so independent that we feel, “I’m against this one or that one, or I have a question about this one.”  Get into the closet and pray, “Our Father.”

For many years the Jewish people didn’t want to say the name of God because they had such reverence.  We need to hold the name of God in great respect.

Joh 17:9  I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.

When I see the church clothed in the sun, it is among the reasons that Jesus prays for us.  I would be a dark storm cloud if it wasn’t for Jesus.  I would be a grouchy, old, dark man if it wasn’t that Jesus prayed for me.

Joh 17:11  And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

He was praying that they be kept.

Joh 17:14  I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
Joh 17:15  I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

Keep them from evil.

Joh 17:16  They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
Joh 17:17  Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

He prayed for help to His people to be set apart from the world and to be cleansed from the nature that desires to be a part of the world.

Joh 17:18  As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

Jesus prayed that you’d be sent.

I’ve been convicted deeply on praying in the Holy Ghost.  Unless we pray in the Holy Ghost, our lives will be so full of so many things that we will never know that God wants to send you some place.

Start in the closed and then when God speaks to you, “Son or daughter I want you to go here or there.”  He will lead you, guide you, and direct you.

Joh 17:19  And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

Jesus set Himself apart to do the Father’s will.  You talk about a choice.  You may have been in Gethsemane before.  We are glad that Jesus was there and the angels were there.  Jesus said I sanctify myself that they also may be sanctified.

He went to Gethsemane and from there to Calvary.  He prayed there, “Not my will.”  We need to reach the place that Jesus reached and pray, “Dear Father, Dear son, and the Holy Ghost, whatever your will is I submit to it.”

One of the greatest liberties that we will have is when we reach the place of total surrender.  It is only when you surrender totally to God that everything else is surrendered.

If you are breathing then you are on the brink of a miracle.  If you can hear me, if you can read, if you feel the least amount of conviction, if you can find one promise in the 66 books of the bible, you are blessed.  Jesus surrendered so that you can have the power to surrender.

You can come before Him and surrender your regretful past.  Immediately as you do, you are forgiven and all the sins that you committed are cast as far as the east is form the west.  You are given a clean sheet to fill.  You can have new life.  It is wonderful to be born again.

It is wonderful to be walking up the King’s Highway.  When you surrender everything to Him then He chooses your future.

Each one that chose their own way looks back at their life with regrets.  They look back at all that they lost because of the choices that they made.

There are some things that you don’t want to surrender for success.  There are some things that you don’t want to surrender for treating mankind right.

There is a law of sowing and reaping.  There are teachings in the Word of God that you don’t go contrary to without regrets.

After you have surrendered fully to Him then you can surrender everything to God.  When we surrender the dilemma to God, “Dear God I’ve paid on this place for 25 years and have paid 2500 on this place to make it marketable.  I can surrender everything to the God that can give something better than 1,000,000 dollars.”

Joh 17:20  Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

Jesus prayed for you and me.  Isn’t it wonderful that He prayed:

Joh 17:21  That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

It is wonderful that not only did He teach us to be one but He wanted us to be one with Him.

Joh 17:22  And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

It is wonderful that the presence of God can be real in our lives.  There are many blessings that I would miss if I don’t have the attitude that a child can edify me.  I remember Sister Edith, a frail old sister, she got up and began to testify, reading the scriptures, and the presence of God went through that little church witnessing that “This is one of my children.”

Joh 17:23  I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
Joh 17:24  Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

He prayed that we be with Him in eternity.  Is there anything so precious as an invitation?  Is there anything that moves your heart as someone saying, “I would really like for you to come and see me.”

We are so blessed to have that invitation that Jesus gave.

“Whosoever thirsts let Him come to me and drink.”

There isn’t anyone that isn’t thirsty and there are millions that are trying to satisfy that thirst with what their carnal mind would lead them to.  They try to satisfy that thirst and are disappointed again and again, and lose a little more of what God entrusted them with.

God spoke to me and I believe it to be from God.  I’m applying it to my life and I’m asking you to apply it to your life.  When things were going so poor in Noah’s day, God spoke the thought: “My spirit will not always strive with man.”

If you are thinking that you’ll wait for a more convenient time then you are being very unwise.  He wants to fulfill His will in your life.

Brother Gary Wednesday Evening 5/23/12

Brother Gary Wednesday Evening 5/23/12
Jud 1:20  But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

Everyone in this audience that has been saved a while has encountered unbelief.  It is a terrible spirit that is loosed in the world.  But we have an answer and that is: “Building yourself up in your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.”

There is very little praying in the Holy Ghost today.  There is a lot of selfish, carnal praying.  It is different when an individual comes before God and says, “I don’t want this coming up from the selfish side of me; I want to pray in the Holy Ghost.  I want to have God on the scene.”

Jud 1:21  Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

We are each challenged to keep our self in the love of God.  There are many things that will come into our life that would be an exit from the Love of God.  We don’t want to go that way.

The Holy Ghost wants to move on your heart with a way to work with a soul.  We got a clear picture of Babylon in the thought of the double walls.  If one is to be rescued from Babylon we must pray in the Holy Ghost.  We need God to lay a burden on our hearts to pray for someone in Babylon.

Jud 1:22  And of some have compassion, making a difference:

Many in Babylon would want you to pray for them when they are in trouble.  There is something about God burdening us to see some delivered out of Babylon.  It is a strong hold of bondage.  Some seem to have an understanding of salvation and sanctification and yet they are bound by Babylon.  They will even talk about their organization and what a mean bunch they are and yet they are captives of Babylon.

When my parents were alive we were in Oklahoma and there are a lot of faith and victory people there.  One of them was in the services and Brother Turnbow told him, “This message is for you.”  The dear brother heard and accepted the message and came out of the faith and victory movement.  Brother Turnbow knew that God had given him a message from God to help a brother get out of Babylon.

Jud 1:23  And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

Many times we are praying for a soul and a godly fear comes upon our soul that they are going to go out too far.  It is hard for us to understand, but a soul can get so far away from God that they don’t know how to get back to God.  My sister, Joann, told me when I told her that she needed to pray that she had forgotten how to pray.  She was raised in the same family as I was.  It seems amazing that people can get so far off that they forget how to get back to God or to pray.

It is so important that you and I pray in the Holy Ghost so that we have a godly hatred towards even the garments spotted by the flesh.  There are some things that must be a revelation from God before they are real to us.  You can know that people have needs but there is something about you praying in the Holy Ghost and Him revealing needs to us.

Men and women choose to be worldly and live in the flesh; we need to pray in the Holy Ghost until we have a godly hatred for those garments.

Jud 1:24  Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

The enemy loves to war on a precious saint of God to say, “You are not going to make it.”  This scripture is a promise to you.  You don’t have to go astray.  You don’t have to backslide.  You don’t have to yield to the world, the flesh, or carnality and get your garments all spotted up.

He is able to present you faultless.  We are blessed to have that wonderful privilege of communicating with God, “God however you want to lead and guide, I want to obey you.”  Having God lead and guide works to ‘build up yourself in your most holy faith’.

Jud 1:25  To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

I understand and you understand being faithful.  There is faithfulness in devotions:  we meet with God in the hour of devotions; we pray and have responsibilities to meet.  There is also that time where God moves upon us that we need to come away from the hurried schedule of life.  There is not one in this audience that is not busy.  Everyone’s plate is full.  But we are instructed to pray in the Holy Ghost.  It takes you and me spending time alone with God and bearing our heart to God.

Those that say a sanctified individual doesn’t have to labor to pray in the Holy Ghost doesn’t know how my mind is.  I get down to pray and, (a figure of speech), a dozen things come to take my mind.  I think, “I need to work my way through this because I need to pray in the Holy Ghost.”

We must keep the robes on; we don’t want to walk naked.  We must keep on the garments of praise and the robes of salvation.

The Holy Spirit gives compassion for Babylonians but not just for them.  He can move with compassion on whomsoever that He would desire whether it would be to get saved or to be delivered out of Babylon.  There is a world of difference between having a kind loving heart and having the thought of “God has laid a burden on my heart for a soul.”

We live among heathens today.  Don’t assume that people have a Bible or know where to find the plan of salvation.  It is hard to believe that people don’t even know the plan of salvation.  They have gathered religious gabble from TV or various people and say, “We pray.”  Yet they don’t know anything.

If you have a heavy burden for one soul, don’t beat yourself up; keep praying.  Pray in the Holy Ghost and keep praying.

Others save with fear:  You are praying in the Holy Ghost and while you are praying, God sees everything.  You are burdened for a soul, but God knows what is going on with that soul.  God sees the decisions that they are about to make.

You and I know that one wrong decision can cause a soul to be lost forever.  The thought is not that God would not have mercy, but the domino affect begins to take place. This happens then that and pretty soon they are way out to sea.

The Holy Spirit moving upon us with the fear of God:  We are blessed to have God move upon us with the fear of God.  We can believe that, when God moves upon our soul with the fear of God and in humility and tears we reach out to a soul, God has worked with that soul.

Hating the garments spotted by the flesh.  The flesh is an ugly thing.  God is able to keep us from falling.  Pray in the Holy Ghost.  He is able to keep you from falling, and is able to present you faultless.

Jud 1:25  To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

There is something about praying in the Holy Ghost that causes us to want to give glory to God.  When God meets with man we want to say, all of the glory and honor goes back to you.  We are nothing; we are just a blade of grass.  We are nothing.

Dominion – there is such a value in saying, “God I want you to have total rule.  I’m going to submit everything to God.”  There is no one here that doesn’t have a personality and opinions.  It is wonderful to take our personality, preferences, and opinions and say, “God I want you to have the dominion, whatever that you see would be best, not just for me but for the whole scope of family, friends, and everyone else.”

There is a place to come back to God and say, “God I thank you for the power that you’ve given me but it all belongs to you.”  We don’t have any power on our own.

Give to God the glory, the power, and the dominion now and of course it is His in eternity.
