Sis Teri Sunday School 2/27/11

Sis Teri Sunday School 2/27/11
God has begun to stir us toward outreach for souls and we need His wisdom, His grace, and His help.  It will involve moving us out of our comfort zone.  I don’t want to bring just my own thoughts and my own burden, but if this is really, truly a burden from God, I want to bring it out.

John 1:1-18 KJVR
(1)  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
(2)  The same was in the beginning with God.
(3)  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
(4)  In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
(5)  And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
(6)  There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
(7)  The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
(8)  He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
(9)  That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
(10)  He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
(11)  He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
(12)  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
(13)  Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
(14)  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
(15)  John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
(16)  And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
(17)  For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
(18)  No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

Verse 8:  We are not that Light, we are here to bear witness of that Light.  We need the Light dwelling in us and we need show forth that Light, but we are not that Light.
Verse 10,11:  Many times Jesus is right there talking to souls and they don’t recognize Him.  We need to be careful that we don’t miss what God has for us.
No one has seen God face to face but Jesus came telling of Him, this Word is what declares Him.
Isaiah 40:3-11 KJVR
(3)  The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
(4)  Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
(5)  And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
(6)  The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:
(7)  The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.
(8)  The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
(9)  O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!
(10)  Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
(11)  He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.

The above reading shows both parts, the part that God has in being a witness to souls and the part that we have.  Verse 3:  This is our part.  Verse 4,5: This is God’s part.  Verse 6,7:  Shows our part.

Our part is to help people to see that the things of the world will not satisfy and to help them to recognize that the Spirit of God is drawing on their heart.

Verse 9, our job: “Lift up your voice with strength.”  We have a testimony; God has done great things for us.  It will help people to see God when we declare God.

Verse 10-11, is God’s job.  We have a part as an under-shepherd to help gather the lambs.  There will be some nurturing to do, but our goal is to bring them to the Great Shepherd.  We cannot have their experience tied up in us.  WE need God’s help to know how to hand them over so that they are not dependent upon us.
We need to get them connected with God Himself.  When the Spirit of God shows them something then they will have something to stand upon.  If it is just us telling them this is how the church stands, they will have difficulty knowing that it is true.

I remember when God saved me, when the spirit of God would reveal something to me then I would measure.  We need to give others that get saved time for God to show them things.  We don’t have to work hard and struggle hard to convince people.  If they have a heart to know God then God will reveal it to their heart.

So many children today are not taught to submit to authority and have no discipline in their own lives.  If they cannot learn to submit to another authority then how can they have discipline in their own life?  If they have never learned to rule their own spirit then how can they learn to submit to God?  The Spirit of God doesn’t physically restrain someone.  It is a hard thing for them to learn to submit if they have never learned as a child.
People don’t come in and already have hearts that are good ground.  The ground needs to be worked.  It is the Word of God that does that work.  Our job is to get them in so that the Word and the Spirit can do the work.

This is our mission if we choose to accept it.  There is a job for each of us, and it will be work, it is up to us to accept it or not.

2 Timothy 1:6-14 KJVR
(6)  Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
(7)  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
(8)  Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
(9)  Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
(10)  But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:
(11)  Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.
(12)  For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
(13)  Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
(14)  That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.

He has given us the Word and the gospel and it is our job to take it out and to share it and to be partakers of that work.  The Word of God causes faith.  Unbelief is everywhere out there; the Word is designed to water and nurture and help the faith that has been given to every individual to grow (Romans 12:3).

John 20:30-31 KJVR
(30)  And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:
(31)  But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

The Word is full of testimonies that make it possible to believe that He will do what He says.

Hebrews 11:6 KJVR
(6)  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

God will do what He said that He will do if we will do our part.

Hebrews 11:7 KJVR
(7)  By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

Faith is hearing what God says, believing it, and acting upon it.  If Noah didn’t act on what God said, where was his belief that God would send the flood?

Hebrews 11:8 KJVR
(8)  By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.

If there is belief then there will be an acting upon it.

Hebrews 11:11 KJVR
(11)  Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.

Hebrews 11:24-29 KJVR
(24)  By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter;
(25)  Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
(26)  Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.
(27)  By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
(28)  Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them.
(29)  By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned.

It was not just leaving Egypt, there were other things that they needed to do.  There was faith, belief in God, obedience, and then God gave the reward.

Hebrews 11:30-31 KJVR
(30)  By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.
(31)  By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.

Rehab not only saved herself and her family but she also became a mother that was in the lineage of Jesus.

Hebrews 11:32-40 KJVR
(32)  And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
(33)  Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
(34)  Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
(35)  Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
(36)  And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
(37)  They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
(38)  (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.
(39)  And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
(40)  God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

They obtained before God a good report.  They received a reward that we’re still looking for.  We’ve received the promise of salvation that Jesus brought, but there are things that we are still looking for.  We’re looking for souls to be saved; we’re looking for a revival.  In heaven we will be rejoicing.  Those in heaven will also be rejoicing when revival comes.  Those that have gone ahead of us will be partakers looking behind.

This Word is what will help us to do it.  We will get discouraged if we don’t continually renew.

Romans 10:17 KJVR
(17)  So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Romans 10:10-18 KJVR
(10)  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
(11)  For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
(12)  For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
(13)  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
(14)  How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
(15)  And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
(16)  But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
(17)  So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
(18)  But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

The Spirit of God has already talked to people, when we take the Word out and speak it to people, then The Spirit of God is able to witness to them.

James 2:17-26 KJVR
(17)  Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
(18)  Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
(19)  Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
(20)  But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
(21)  Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
(22)  Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
(23)  And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
(24)  Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
(25)  Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?
(26)  For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

True faith will produce obedience.  If it is true faith, not just believing as the devils do, then it will produce obedience and holiness.
