Sister Timberly Wednesday Evening 8/12/15
Eph 6:10
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his
might.
Eph 6:11
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the
wiles of the devil.
Eph 6:12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities,
against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against
spiritual wickedness in high places.
Eph 6:13
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to
withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Eph 6:14
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on
the breastplate of righteousness;
Eph 6:15
And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Eph 6:16
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to
quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Eph 6:17
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is
the word of God:
Eph 6:18
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and
watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Isaac – The sword of the Spirit has been helping me. Every scripture has something that I need to
learn.
Gyme – The helmet of salvation protects your head. It blocks the devil’s thoughts from entering
your head.
Makaela – the helmet of salvation, when taken off, gets
rusty then it is of no use. It cannot
block the thoughts that come into your mind.
We don’t want to take the helmet off.
Madison – we have been preparing to stand, reading the Bible
and it is time to take a stand as the Church of God.
We are going to keep the armor of God in our thoughts and
read Psalms 139
Psa 139:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.
O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me.
He knows us yet He loves us.
It is not a scary thing then for Him to search us. He already knows us and has searched us.
Psa 139:2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine
uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
He knows us when we are relaxing. He knows us when we are conquering with all
our armor on and are victorious. We are
not always in that frame of mind. Sometimes
we are relaxing. He still protects us
with the armor even when we don’t feel that we are fighting. He protects us when we are conscious of it
and when we are not.
He knows every battle and understands every tough situation
completely. It is not a mystery to God. He knows how to get the victory.
Psa 139:3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down,
and art acquainted with all my ways.
We all have different roles and pathways that we take in
life. Sometimes I am a mom in the four
walls of my house. Sometimes I am a
saint sitting in church. Sometimes I am
a teacher in school. God is in full
control of every situation that we are in.
He has placed us where He wants us to be. We have all opened our lives to God and asked
Him to place us where He wants us to be.
Acquainted – intimately as a steward. He is going to keep every way in our life and
help us know how to do in that way in our life.
Psa 139:4 For there is
not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O
LORD, thou knowest it altogether.
He knows why we said things the way that we did. Sometimes people take what we said wrong
because they don’t know the thought behind it.
God knows and understands our thoughts and everything.
Psa 139:5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and
laid thine hand upon me.
In the Youth Revival, they had tee-shirts that said, “I got
your back.” God is not only behind us
but before and He has His hand upon us.
I think of the memories in my life of gentle touch. I remember hurting myself bad and sitting on
my mom’s lap and my Aunt Myrna said, “When you grow up you will always remember
how wonderful it was to sit on your mom’s lap when you were hurt.”
We can remember when someone expressed, “I really like
you. And squeezed your elbow.” That is how God is.
Psa 139:6 Such
knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is
high, I cannot attain unto it.
Psa 139:7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or
whither shall I flee from thy presence?
Psa 139:8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou
art there.
Psa 139:9 If I
take the wings of the morning, and dwell
in the uttermost parts of the sea;
Psa 139:10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right
hand shall hold me.
Psa 139:11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me;
even the night shall be light about me.
Psa 139:12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but
the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
If we are as high as you can imagine or as low as you can
imagine, God is there. No matter where God
has put you, His presence will be there.
As far horizontally as you can possibly go, you will not be
able to get away from the presence of God.
As Long as God is there, everything is ok.
I have had that personally in my life. I felt unqualified to take the job in St
Regis. I had been away from teaching for
ten years. Here I was teaching my
weakest qualification: Spanish. God
helped me; I felt that I jumped off a
cliff and I could fly.
Dark times don’t limit God.
He is just the same. The darkness
will not destroy you. No matter how dark
the world is about you, don’t let fear overtake you. Even the night shall be light around you.
Things might seem really dark where we are, but that doesn’t
bring a separation from God. His power
is just the same when you are at work as when you are sitting in the church pews.
Psa 139:13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast
covered me in my mother's womb.
Psa 139:14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that
my soul knoweth right well.
Psa 139:15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I
was made in secret, and curiously
wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
Psa 139:16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being
unperfect; and in thy book all my members
were written, which in continuance were
fashioned, when as yet there was none of
them.
He knew us from the first moment of conception. His protection, His love, and His plan began
right in the womb. It is the armor of
God even there in the womb. He has had a
plan all along.
All my life I struggled with the thought of having lost my
dad. God helped me recently, even just a
couple of years ago, to realize that was God’s plan for me. I can accept that because He has beset us
behind and before and laid His hand upon us.
He had a plan from the beginning. It is wonderful to be saved and fulfilling
that plan.
The first thing that God has planned for us is to be a
friend to us. People don’t realize what
they are missing out on when they don’t have Him for a friend.
Psa 139:17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O
God! how great is the sum of them!
Precious means esteemed and valued. We need to think of what God’s thoughts are
about us and appreciate how good His thoughts are for us. He has good plans, thoughts, for us. We need to value and esteem that.
Psa 139:18 If I
should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am
still with thee.
How great is the sum of God’s thoughts. When I awake and stop thinking of it, God is
still with us the same as when we are thinking of it.
When God gives you something and you bring it out in a song,
a lesson, or a testimony, sometimes you feel empty because you have given it
all out. He will fill us back up. He is still with us.
Psa 139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me,
and know my thoughts:
Psa 139:24 And see if there
be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
God already knows all about us. Sometimes He needs to show us what He
knows.
God is a gentle teacher.
I am thankful how He has taught me somethings and didn’t beat me over
the head even though Maybe He should have.
I am thankful for Him.
