Brother Bill Hayen Sunday School 8/9/15

Brother Bill Hayen Sunday School 8/9/15
Salvation to the Jews and to the Gentiles:

Luk 13:24  Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
Luk 13:25  When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:
Luk 13:26  Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.

We could be amongst the church of God.  Just because we come doesn’t open the door to heaven; we must be obedient to the teachings of the Word of God and the direction of God.

The Jews could have the same mentality.  “We have eaten and drunk in thy presence…”  Just because they had at one time; that did not give them inroad to heaven or make them to be counted as people of God.

I wouldn’t be surprised that there will be people of the Jewish nation that will stand before God at the judgment and say, “We have been your people.”  If they have not lived right before God then they will be turned away.

Even Moses, we would term as a great man of God, (however that is, we are all on the same level), when he didn’t handle things right then God said, “You cannot go into Canaan Land.”

Luk 13:27  But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.
Luk 13:28  There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.
Luk 13:29  And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.
Luk 13:30  And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.

The Gentiles, those that came from other nations, from the north, the east, the west, and from the south, shall sit down in the kingdom of God.  There are Gentiles that shall be first, and there are first, the Jewish nation, that shall be left behind.

The way now has been made open and the Jews must follow the salvation plan just like everyone else.  The Jews, once an elevated people, will be rejected if they don’t follow God.  The Gentiles, those that were a lower people, will be accepted if they follow God.

Mat 8:5  And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,
Mat 8:6  And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
Mat 8:7  And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.
Mat 8:8  The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
Mat 8:9  For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
Mat 8:10  When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
Mat 8:11  And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 8:12  But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Mat 8:13  And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

The ‘children of the kingdom’, the ones of the Jewish nation that reject the salvation plan, will be cast out and rejected.

Act 13:38  Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:
Act 13:39  And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
Act 13:40  Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets;
Act 13:41  Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.
Act 13:42  And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.
Act 13:43  Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.
Act 13:44  And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.
Act 13:45  But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.
Act 13:46  Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.
Act 13:47  For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.
Act 13:48  And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

It was envy that put Jesus on the cross.  The Jews had been once termed the people of God.  But now, “Seeing ye put it from you and judged yourself to be unworthy, lo we turn to the Gentiles.”

Here is an example of the Jewish nation rejecting the plan of salvation so it was turned to the Gentiles.  The Jews could still be saved, but the door was opened to the Gentiles.  Now we see in the scriptures that they don’t have an edge over us.  We all have to go through the same knothole.

Act 18:4  And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.
Act 18:5  And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.
Act 18:6  And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.

It seems, in this day, there is a movement that the Jewish nation will get back to the place where they are lifted up again.  It is not that way.  The Jews as a nation rejected God and salvation was opened to all men and every one of us has to go through the same pattern.

Act 28:24  And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.
Act 28:25  And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,
Act 28:26  Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:
Act 28:27  For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
Act 28:28  Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.

The salvation of God is sent to the Gentiles.  Thank God we have fulfilled the scripture in that we shall respond to it.

Rom 9:1  I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost,
Rom 9:2  That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart.
Rom 9:3  For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:
Rom 9:4  Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;

It was to the Children of Israel that the covenant was given, “If you obey me I will bless you.”  It was to them that the promises were given that God would fight for them and so on.

Rom 9:5  Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.
Rom 9:6  Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:

Throughout History it was so that Rahab and Ruth and others that followed the pattern were able to become Children of Israel.  It was not just the Children of Israel that came out of Egypt, there were others that piggybacked with them.

Gal 3:26  For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
Gal 3:27  For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Gal 3:28  There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
Gal 3:29  And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

The Jewish people believe that Jesus was a good man, but do not believe that He was the Son of God.  They are still waiting for the Messiah and for the kingdom to come and be set up.

When my parents separated and were getting a divorce, I was 15 and my brother was 14.  My brother grew from 5’8” to 6’5”.  He went into the military then came back to see my mother.  He came out of the airplane and smiled at my mother and she smiled at him but looked around behind him still looking for her son.  That is what the Jewish nation is doing; the messiah has come and they are still looking for Him.

Rom 9:7  Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.
Rom 9:8  That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.

Ishmael was the first born, but the seed would be in Isaac.  The children of the flesh, the Jews, are not the children of God anymore.  It was never meant to be in the flesh, but in the promise that was pointing to Christ.

Even in the Old Testament those that were in the line were not all right with God.  They still needed to go according to the covenant that was back then, “If you will seek me with all your soul, mind, and strength, then you will be blessed.”  Even then it was not the flesh but the promise.
