Brother Gary Wednesday Evening 2/4/15

Brother Gary Wednesday Evening 2/4/15
I feel tonight that the bible is unsearchable riches.  The Lord’s Prayer is not an old cliché, it is a very vibrant and alive portion of the Word of God.

Mat 6:9  After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Mat 6:10  Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Mat 6:11  Give us this day our daily bread.
Mat 6:12  And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
Mat 6:13  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

The very first word of the Lord’s Prayer is “our.”  We are one of the great body of Christ that is calling out to “Our Father which art in heaven.”

Ps 50:15 says to call.  I was so glad to know that we are to call:  address by name the one that we are needing help from.

It is so wonderful to know that we have a heavenly Father.  He never sleeps, slumbers, gets tired, or doesn’t want to hear from you.  He always answers when called, He is always on the throne and waiting to hear those that come to Him in humility and as we are instructed to.

We live in a world of slang.  God doesn’t want us using any slang.  He wants us to leave it all off.  We don’t say, “Hey man upstairs.”  We are talking to God when we pray and He is worthy of all honor and praise.  We are to hallow His name.  He is our heavenly Father.

We are instructed to pray, “Thy kingdom come.”  Rom 14:17 the kingdom of God is righteousness, doing right.  Peace, peace is a wonderful thing.  I have been dealing with my own personal life of being at peace and being at one.

I did a study on the thought of peace, it is evident in the scripture many of the scriptures start with, “Grace and peace.  The reason is that peace is under attack all the time.  When our peace is attacked so is the kingdom within us.

God is not the author of confusion.  If you don’t have joy in the Savior then you are going to lose the battle, for “With joy shall you draw water from the wells of salvation.”

When you confess and repent from your sin, Jesus moves inside your heart and you house the kingdom of God.  This is the reason that we are to take care of our vessel, live our lives in simplicity, and live as a good vessel for the kingdom of God to dwell in.  It is the reason that we are to dress, talk, and act right.

Thy will be done:  We want God’s will to be done in our life.  It is the will of God that we read the bible and hear the exhortation.

Give us this day our daily bread:  this is a wonderful way to pray.  Jesus said, “I am the bread that come down from heaven.”  He supplies the bread and we are to eat it.

Forgive us our debts, for all we owe you and everything that we fail to praise you for forgive us.  Sometimes we forget our blessings until we ‘lose the oven.’

God help us to have a forgiving heart.  One of the worst evils that can catch us is to have an unforgiving heart.

Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.  I believe that there is a lot there and I will not teach it all tonight.

2Ti 3:1  This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2Ti 3:2  For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
2Ti 3:3  Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
2Ti 3:4  Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
2Ti 3:5  Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

The very first evil mentioned is that men shall be lovers of their own selves.  This line has been preached upon many times.  It is still one of the greatest evils in the world today.

The next evil is covetousness.  I don’t want a check for a million dollars.  I don’t know what you have for resources.  I don’t want to know what God has blessed you with.

We Americans are very conscience of having enough money to get us to the grave.  We would like to leave enough that our children don’t have to burry us.  Some of us say, “I want to check to see what it will cost to hire a U-Haul to haul these treasures.  Hopefully we can leave that much.”

Whatever God has blessed you with, make sure you can position that money and that home and whatever treasures God has blessed you with so that it can be used for the glory of God when you can no longer take care of it.

Being covetous is the ugliest thing that I know of.  May God help us to not be covetous.  It is listed.
The boasters.  If you have to do all the talking, I want to talk to you.  This congregation believes that there is no one great among us.  If you can make the best pie, then I am glad and I hope you share it.  No boasters.  It is listed with blasphemers.

If there is anything that will stir you and I up it is blasphemy.  You won’t take it sitting down.  The Spirit of God will rise up in you and say, “Hold it.”

Every one of us needs to ask for wisdom from God to make an expression to our children and grandchildren often, “It is vital that you are obedient to your parents.”  It is my responsibility as a grandpa to instill in my grandchildren that they must be obedient to their parents.

Disobedient to parents is listed with blasphemers.  It is not cute when they talk back.  If you think it is then you need to see the eye doctor.

Unthankful:  it is a terrible evil.  Unholy:  these evils are listed right there with ‘without natural affection’.  People love dogs more than children; that is bad.  Truce breakers:  people that will say they will do something and not do it.  That is bad.  Listed right with blasphemers.

False accusers.  Never tell something that you don’t know to be true.  Incontinent means without restraint.  It is listed with the blasphemers.

Fierce:  things will go wrong in my life and in yours.  Last week was a tough week for me but there was no fierceness.  If I go down the alley and every block of wood that I have is gone, there can be no fierceness.

Despisers of those that are good is a part of our times.  There will be people that don’t like you and you cannot figure out why.

Heady high-minded, never let it get a hold of you that you condescend to everyone.

Lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God.  God has given us many beautiful things in the world, never let the things you enjoy to get out of their rightful place.

Having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof.  From such turn away.

Deliver us from evil; from the carnal mind:

Rom 8:5  For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
Rom 8:6  For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Rom 8:7  Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
Rom 8:8  So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
Rom 8:9  But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

This is a good test.  If our mind is only on fleshly things then we have a fleshly mind.  We have to get our mind on spiritual things.  Help me to get saved and sanctified and lift my eyes to the fields that are white to harvest.

Our feet stand in the gates to be a support to our brother and sister when they are in a difficult season of life.  “Hold on; God will come through.”

Satan has been loosed out of his prison.  With the evil spirits that are loosed today, rest and peace are under attack.  I find myself battling to be settled.  It is in the Word of God to be settled.

Worship is under attack.  All of us come to the house of God and will find ourselves, “What are we going to do about this, how are we going to handle that…”  We are here to worship.

Prayer is under attack.  Brother Bill brought the thought that something was concerning him so he decided to seek God about it.  That decision was right but whenever you decide that you are going to pray more, “I’m not going to just have my daily devotions, I am going to make a closet somewhere and steal away to it.”  Then the enemy of your soul will bring all sorts of distractions.

Psa 50:15  And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

Address whom you are calling to.  We really need help from God.  You children really need help from God.  This is the thought of this word, “Call.”  My God, Heavenly Father, I am calling upon you.

Entrance OT6869 call on me in the day of adversity.  When you recognize, “This is the day of adversity, when I try to go forward the enemy is there to push me a step back.”

You children, if you covenant in your heart, “I’m going to be obedient to my mom and dad, I’m going to do my chores.”  When you decide, “I am going to make progress.”  As you take a step toward it you feel resistance.

Call upon me in the day of affliction:  call upon God in the day of anguish, when your heart is crushed, when your heart has a sword go in and left there to bleed.  When your mind is hurt and tormented by unkind words, call upon God in the day of distress.  The day of distress is like the day of stress and the day of trouble.

He says, “I will deliver thee.”

Isaiah said, “My house shall be called a house of prayer.”  God moved upon him and told him that it was His desire that we would be joyful in His house of prayer and that it would be called a house of prayer for all people.  A house of intercessions and supplications.

Jesus told us that He would deliver us from evil.  Pray for one another that we would be delivered from the evil and that we would supplicate:  “Oh God, that which would torment me and my brothers and sisters, we plead the blood.”

“My house shall be called a house of prayer for all people.”

Deliver us from all evil:  what a prayer of depth that the Lord taught us in His prayer!  What a prayer of blessing for you children, your little minds and bodies to be kept pure.  What good instruction for every one of us.  God keep us from all evil.
