Sister Sunny Sunday School 11/2/14
We saw in the first lesson who God is and how He created man
to be like Him.
We saw in the second lesson that God desires to dwell with
us but cannot tolerate the presence of sin.
In the 3rd lesson we saw how Adam and Eve sinned
because they went beyond the bounds that God had set for them.
In the next lesson we saw how God made a sacrifice for their
sin and clothing and made a way for them to worship Him, and in the best way
possible for the time, fellowship Him.
This also set the stage for Jesus coming to be the perfect sacrifice for
our sins.
Last week we saw how everyone, including us, which were born
to Adam and Eve were born not in the image of God but in the image of Adam,
with a carnal, selfish, nature. Thank
God that Jesus came to not only save us from our committed sins but to cleanse
us from our carnal nature and restore us to that beautiful, pure nature of God
that God created Adam and Eve in initially.
This week we will see that Jesus is the only begotten Son of
God, born in His image. He lived a life
without sin and in every way portrayed the character of God. He came to be the perfect Lamb of God, to be
made sin for us and die on the cross so that we could be righteous through
Him.
Some prophecies of Jesus:
Gen 12:3 And I will bless them that bless
thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the
earth be blessed.
Psa 68:18 Thou hast ascended on high, thou
hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might
dwell among them.
Psa 69:21 They gave me also gall for my
meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.
Psa 118:22 The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.
Isa 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall
give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall
call his name Immanuel.
Isa 9:7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David,
and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with
justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will
perform this.
Isa 25:8 He will swallow up death in
victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the
rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD
hath spoken it.
Isa 28:16 Therefore thus saith the Lord
GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious
corner stone, a sure foundation: he that
believeth shall not make haste.
Isa 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to
preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the
brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the
prison to them that are bound;
Jer 23:5 Behold, the days come, saith the
LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign
and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.
Dan 2:44 And in the days of these kings
shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and
the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but
it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for
ever.
Mic 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of
Judah, yet out of thee shall he come
forth unto me that is to be ruler in
Israel; whose goings forth have been
from of old, from everlasting.
Hag 2:7 And I will shake all nations,
and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with
glory, saith the LORD of hosts.
Zec 9:9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of
Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding
upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.
Zec 11:12 And I said unto them, If ye
think good, give me my price; and if
not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces
of silver.
Zec 12:10 And I will pour upon the house
of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of
supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they
shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his
only son, and shall be in bitterness for
him, as one that is in bitterness for his
firstborn.
Mal 3:1 Behold, I will send my
messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek,
shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye
delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.
Jesus is called the second Adam:
1Co 15:45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was
made a living soul; the last Adam was made
a quickening spirit.
1Co 15:46 Howbeit that was
not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that
which is spiritual.
1Co 15:47 The first man is
of the earth, earthy: the second man is
the Lord from heaven.
1Co 15:48 As is
the earthy, such are they also that are
earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
1Co 15:49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy,
we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
In the sense that we were all born to Adam, he is the giver
of our natural life, and through him we have our carnal nature.
It is through Jesus Christ that we have spiritual life. Through salvation we are born again and
receive a new life, free from sin, washed clean, and in sanctification we can
receive a new nature, pure and holy.
This life is through the Lord Jesus Christ; in this way He is called the
second Adam.
Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the
world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have
sinned:
Rom 5:13
(For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when
there is no law.
Rom 5:14
Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had
not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of
him that was to come.
Rom 5:15
But not as the offence, so also is
the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the
grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is
by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
Rom 5:16
And not as it was by one that
sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment
was by one to condemnation, but the free
gift is of many offences unto
justification.
Rom 5:17
For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which
receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life
by one, Jesus Christ.)
Rom 5:18
Therefore as by the offence of one judgment
came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of
one the free gift came upon all men unto
justification of life.
Rom 5:19
For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the
obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
Rom 5:20
Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin
abounded, grace did much more abound:
Rom 5:21
That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through
righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
I like that, “For if by one man’s offence death reigned by
one; much more thy which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of
righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.” We can reign victorious over sin in this
life. The last verse too, “That as sin
reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto
eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.”
There is no more curse for us from Adam’s sin if we are in
Christ Jesus. We can reign through
righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
Jesus came to do the Father’s will
Joh 5:30 I can of mine own
self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek
not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
Joh 4:34
Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will
of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
He was obedient to God
Joh 15:10 If ye keep my
commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's
commandments, and abide in his love.
Php 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he
humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Isa 50:5
The Lord GOD hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither
turned away back.
Isa 50:6
I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off
the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.
Jesus knew the frame of man, knew that man would fail him,
was not hindered in His work by it.
Joh 2:24
But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,
Joh 2:25 And needed not that any should testify of
man: for he knew what was in man.
Mar 6:32
And they departed into a desert place by ship privately.
Mar 6:33
And the people saw them departing, and many knew him, and ran afoot
thither out of all cities, and outwent them, and came together unto him.
Mar 6:34 And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people,
and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not
having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.
Psa 103:13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so
the LORD pitieth them that fear him.
Psa 103:14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that
we are dust.
Psa 103:15 As for
man, his days are as grass: as a flower
of the field, so he flourisheth.
Psa 103:16 For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone;
and the place thereof shall know it no more.
Psa 103:17 But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that
fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;
Psa 103:18 To such as keep his covenant, and to those
that remember his commandments to do them.
Matthew Henry CC - The Scripture
says a great deal of the mercy of God, and we all have experienced it. The
father pities his children that are weak in knowledge, and teaches them; pities
them when they are froward, and bears with them; pities them when they are
sick, and comforts them; pities them when they are fallen, and helps them to
rise; pities them when they have offended, and, upon their submission, forgives
them; pities them when wronged, and rights them: thus the Lord pities those
that fear him. See why he pities. He considers the frailty of our bodies, and
the folly of our souls, how little we can do, how little we can bear; in all
which his compassion appears.
Heb 4:14
Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the
heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our
profession.
Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot
be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted
like as we are, yet without sin.
Heb 4:16
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may
obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
He did not come to please people; the Pharisees and Chief
Priests testified of Him in tempting Him:
Luk 20:21 And they asked him, saying, Master, we know
that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly:
2Ch 19:7 Wherefore now let the fear of
the LORD be upon you; take heed and do it:
for there is no iniquity with the LORD
our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts.
Act 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that
God is no respecter of persons:
Act 10:35 But in every nation he that
feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
