The Lord our righteousness –

Php 3:9  And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

The Laodicean was self righteous:

Rev 3:17  Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
Rev 3:18  I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

Rom 9:31  But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.
Rom 9:32  Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;
Rom 9:33  As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Rom 10:1  Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.
Rom 10:2  For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.
Rom 10:3  For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
Rom 10:4  For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

The redeemer – To think that He redeemed me!

Gal 3:13  Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
Gal 3:14  That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Isa 47:4  As for our redeemer, the LORD of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel.

Tit 2:14  Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

1Pe 1:18  Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
1Pe 1:19  But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

1 I will sing of my Redeemer
and His wondrous love to me;
On the cruel cross He suffered
From the curse to set me free.

Chorus:
Sing, O sing of my Redeemer,
With His blood He purchased me.
On the cross He sealed my pardon,
Paid the debt and made me free.

2 I will tell the wondrous story
how, my lost estate to save,
In His boundless love and mercy
He the ransom freely gave.[Chorus]

3 I will praise my dear Redeemer;
His triumphant power I'll tell,
How the victory He giveth
Over sin and death and hell.[Chorus]

4 I will sing of my Redeemer
and His heavenly love for me;
He from death to life hath brought me,
Son of God, with Him to be.[Chorus]

He paid the debt and He set me free.

Zealous –

Isa 59:1  Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

Isa 59:15  Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.
Isa 59:16  And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.
Isa 59:17  For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloke.

God wondered that there was no intercessor.  He wants us to pray so that He can answer our prayers.
God is waiting for us to pray and He is wondering why people don’t pray more.

Zeal means ardor, jealousy, a jealous disposition as of a husband.

God made us; we are His.  We really don’t have a right to ourselves.  It is His beautiful nature that we have a choice.  He made us; we are God’s.

He is the Judge.

Rom 2:16  In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

Judge means to separate, to put asunder, to pick out, to select, to choose.  God has drawn a line and it is the same no matter who we are: our background, a male, a female, the oldest, the youngest, our race, how much money, or who our friends are.  All those things don’t matter.

The same line is drawn for all that God has created.  It brings a separation.  If we are on the right side of that line we don’t have to worry in the judgment.  To judge means to esteem and approve.  If we are on the right side of the line, He esteems and approves us.

Everyone has an opinion and most of the time they feel free to share it.  In the end there is only one opinion that will matter.  We need to learn that on this side of eternity.  To find out what God thinks and make sure that he is smiling on our decisions.

God has an opinion about stuff too.  I am really glad to leave things in God’s hands.  He understands.  He is the creator.  He made all of us in love.  He knows the right.

Phil 1:9 this I pray that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and all judgment.  To hold that judgment is love.  In giving the Law, showing us the difference between right and wrong, to show us the requirements was God’s love.

When we give an assignment as a teacher, we let the students clearly know what is required.  We spell it out.  It is the love of God to clearly let us know what is required.

To judge is to rule or govern.  It was the prerogative of the kings to pass judgment.

I am going to bring some of the thoughts from our class on Covey at school:

We view the world through our paradigm: whatever judgment you have about a situation.

There was a girl getting up to give a presentation and she put on her glasses, “I am a failure and no one will listen to me” was written on the lenses.  She started to say what she was going to say and didn’t believe that they would listen.

There was a business man that got up and written on his lenses was, “This business will never succeed.”  He acted bored and no one listened to what he had to say.

Our perspective matters.  We need to examine our paradigm and our beliefs about the church and what matters.

He told a story of this man that had a Gatorade bottle filled with dark liquid.  He took the lid off.  It was to encourage people that were in a dark place in their life.  “Take off all the limitations, and then pray.”  He took the lid off and put the bottle under a running faucet in the sink, it ran quite a while and it didn’t change the color.

Even when it doesn’t look like something is happening, keep on praying because prayer always works.  Make sure the lid is off, don’t try to limit God.  “He will answer this way.”  Allow God to have liberty.  Don’t try to tell God what to do.

Our paradigm, our perspective, is not always the right one.  Take the limit off; examine what we have written on our paradigm.  Maybe it is unbelief.  Maybe you don’t believe that God hears or answers prayer.  Maybe the answer is no or wait, maybe you are praying wrong, but keep praying,

Maybe other’s negative opinions limit you somehow.  Just not believing will hinder God from answering.  I have battled unbelief and the way that I really got help was to just give it to God.  I said, “You created me, I know that prayer works.  I am sure it does.  I am going to keep praying.”

Maybe we see something and are sure that we are right in our judgment on something, and we could be wrong.  We need to allow God to help us and be open as long as we are on the foundation of Jesus Christ.

I appreciate how God has been working with me.  He comes with such kindness and it is so easy to take things from God.  We are living in the Laodicean age.  Maybe more so because we have the truth.  We have the doctrine.  We might think, “We have it all together.  We have the truth.”  We need to take that limit of ‘we have it all together’ off.

We need to be sensitive to each other.  If someone has something against us then we need to go to them first.  If we know of anything that needs cleared up then we need to go to them.  We need to be humble.

If someone comes to you, then you need to be honest.  Not saying “No everything is ok” if it is not.  That is passive aggressive, when people keep digging you and don’t tell you what is wrong.

We as Christians think that there should not ever be a problem, but we are human and have issues and problems.

Knowing all of the foundation of Christ, how beautiful He is, He is the head of the church, in control, all the attributes that we have studied, we can rest in peace and know that he is in control.

He is the beloved son, “This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased.”  God put that in His foundation, not just harsh rocks, he loved us so much that He put ‘the beloved son’ in the foundation.

The foundation of God is structured.  Another scripture that says, “Every man’s ways is right in his own eyes.”  In our own eyes we can think that we are right but the Word of God gives a real pattern and a structure.  If we keep going to the foundation and the pattern, it will help us to see how God looks upon this.

We need structure, without it we could all have different opinions of how to walk.  It took about fifteen minutes for the Gatorade bottle to all get washed out.  It started to get lighter and lighter.  It may not always be ‘boom’ and the answer comes, just keep on praying, give it time.

I am glad to be saved, to have this foundation to build on and have this to offer my children.  They are faced with blatant sin, this is the foundation that they can be on.  I’m so glad to be a mother and to be able to teach them.

Be proactive is the first step to be effective.  When bad things happen, don’t blame someone for what they did to you.  We are not to point fingers or allow someone’s attitude affect you, be in charge of your own weather, carry your own personal sunshine above you.

The first habit of highly effective people, be proactive.  One person that really inspired him in his studies was a man in a concentration camp.  He watched people around him and saw how they responded to what happened to them in the camp.

Some got sick and became totally devastated by what happened.  He decided to not be one of them but instead to use his experiences to help people.  When his resolution was being tried, he focused on going back to the college where he had taught and teaching them how to be happy.  No matter what happens to you there is an ultimate freedom and that is to be happy.

He looked at what people wanted and it is not success, it is not how much money people make, what they want is to be effective and make a change in the world.  He looked for a common theme in the self help works that talked of making people highly effective, the first 100 years of these books focused on character and integrity, in the next 50 years it got away from that to looking good, buy a tie, it is how you walk…

To be effective get back to the core values; the core values are timeless, true a long time ago and still true today, true in our culture and in others.  Tell the truth, if you don’t then it breaks down the relationship no matter what culture you are in.
