Behold the Lamb of God!

All week I have read the Easter Story and rejoiced in all that Jesus did for us.  It was planned all through time that Jesus would be the supreme sacrifice, the Lamb of God.  He came so that we could be saved from our sin.

I’m thankful to know the truth and have the Bible that we can read and know the precious truth.  I am thankful that we can have the blood applied to our heart.

Behold the Lamb of God!  Can’t you see John putting out his hand toward Jesus and saying, “Behold the Lamb of God which takes the sin of the world?”  There are many that say that we must stay sinners, thank God for the message of deliverance that we can be saved from our sin.

Joh 1:35  Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;
Joh 1:36  And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!

Clear back in the Garden of Eden, Adam and Even disobeyed and partook of the fruit of the tree that God told them they should not.  Disobedience brought condemnation to their heart even before God called them and they knew that they were naked.

Gen 3:6  And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Gen 3:7  And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

Immediately their eyes were opened.  Cannot you just sense what they felt?  They knew a change had taken place.  They sewed fig leaves together because they wanted to be covered.  Before that there was no condemnation in their life and they were not aware that they were naked.

Gen 3:21  Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

God made them coverings with skin.  Why were the fig leaves not good enough?  Fig leaves don’t have blood.  There was no sacrifice or covering for sin in the fig leaves.  In making them coats of skins, there was a blood sacrifice made for a covering for their sin.  From the beginning a sacrifice had to be made to cover for sin.

Gen 4:1  And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.
Gen 4:2  And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
Gen 4:3  And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.
Gen 4:4  And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
Gen 4:5  But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
Gen 4:6  And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
Gen 4:7  If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

Here again we see that Able brought a sacrifice from what he did as a living, a sacrifice of a lamb.  God was pleased.  Cain brought the fruit of his labor, fruits and vegetables.  God was not pleased; there was no blood sacrifice.  God did not have respect for Able because of his name or that he was good looking, He had respect in that Able brought a sacrifice that came from blood.

It was not because God did not like Cain or farming, it was because he did not do it right.  We cannot today bring anything that will cover our sin except His blood applied to our heart.  We do this by repenting and forsaking our sin.  Only the blood of Christ will wash us clean.

When we repent and turn from something, when we are sorry we did something, then we quit doing it.  If I say, “I’m sorry that I stepped on your toe,” then go and step on it again, am I sorry?  If we repent of our sin every day and continue doing them then we are not sorry.  We must repent and forsake our sin.  God gives us grace to live free from sin.

In order to be worth anything to God we must have the foundation of a cleaned up life, our sins forgiven, and be clean and washed up before God.  Then all our sacrifices and things we do are useful to God.  If we continue in our sin then what we do is not acceptable to God.

God is the creator; in order for us to serve Him we must do it His way.  When we come God’s way then we will reap the blessings of being in harmony with God in our life.  Thank God we can do it right and have the blessings of building on the Word of God.

We must do it God’s way, find out what He requires and then do it His way.

God gave Isaac to Abraham when he was old.  He showed him the stars and told him that the lineage would be through Isaac and would be as the stars of the sky.

Gen 22:1  And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.
Gen 22:2  And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
Gen 22:3  And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.
Gen 22:4  Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.
Gen 22:5  And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.
Gen 22:6  And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.
Gen 22:7  And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?

I picture Isaac being a little boy, 7 to 9 years old.  He knew how it was supposed to be.  He said, “Dad, here is the fire and the wood, where is the Lamb?”

Gen 22:8  And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

Abraham had an answer, “God will provide himself a lamb.”  Abraham knew the promises of God and he believed God.  We are told in Hebrews that he trusted that even if he would have had to sacrifice this little son, God would raise him up to him again.

Gen 22:9  And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.
Gen 22:10  And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
Gen 22:11  And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
Gen 22:12  And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
Gen 22:13  And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.

In the nick of time God came on the scene and provided the ram, a blood sacrifice.

Gen 22:14  And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.

Jehovahjireh means that “The Lord will provide.”

In Isaiah it says, “We will hear a voice behind us saying, ‘This is the way, Walk ye in it.’”

Deep trials cause deep faith.  All through the ages Abraham was called the friend of God and this is why.  We want to take every battle and become strong through them.

Exo 12:1  And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,
Exo 12:2  This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
Exo 12:3  Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
Exo 12:4  And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.
Exo 12:5  Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:

They couldn’t get the sickest lamb that they didn’t care that much about.  It must be without blemish, a male of the first year.  We don’t just give our garbage to God.  We must give Him our best, the best that we have, and God wants the best for us.

Exo 12:6  And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.
Exo 12:7  And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.

This was important too.  We see the blood sacrifice, “They shall take the blood and strike it on the doorposts and over the top.”

Exo 12:8  And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
Exo 12:9  Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.
Exo 12:10  And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.
Exo 12:11  And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD'S passover.
Exo 12:12  For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.
Exo 12:13  And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

This perfect spotless lamb and the blood on the doorposts were so important.  This meant the life of the first born.  This was the protection and the only plan that would work to save the firstborn of every family.  When God looks down on us He must see the blood applied on our lives.

We see later that if they were too poor and did not have a lamb to sacrifice, they could use a young turtle dove or a pigeon.  God did not ask too much of them.  But they must bring a blood sacrifice.

Lev 5:6  And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the LORD for his sin which he hath sinned, a female from the flock, a lamb or a kid of the goats, for a sin offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his sin.
Lev 5:7  And if he be not able to bring a lamb, then he shall bring for his trespass, which he hath committed, two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, unto the LORD; one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering.

It took the blood.  It takes the precious blood of Jesus Christ to atone for our sins today.

Isa 53:1  Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
Isa 53:2  For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
Isa 53:3  He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Isa 53:4  Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
Isa 53:5  But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

He was despised.  He was rejected of man; a man of sorrow and acquainted with grief.  Surely He bore our grief and bore our sorrow.  He was wounded for our transgression and bore our sin.

We all have sinned and He bore our sin.  It is our sins that put Him on the cross and caused Him such agony and grief.  It caused the Father to turn His back on the son.  It was His precious blood that was shed for our sin.

We can all put our self in that place.  It is us.  It is my sin.  I am guilty.  We can be thankful for the blood and that we have repented and can have peace.  Peace is one of the most precious things.  It is through Christ that we can have peace.

Luk 23:1  And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate.
Luk 23:2  And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.
Luk 23:3  And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it.
Luk 23:4  Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man.
Luk 23:5  And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place.
Luk 23:6  When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilaean.
Luk 23:7  And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time.
Luk 23:8  And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.
Luk 23:9  Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.
Luk 23:10  And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him.
Luk 23:11  And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.
Luk 23:12  And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.
Luk 23:13  And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
Luk 23:14  Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him:

Jesus was the spotless Lamb, without fault or blemish.  He was the perfect sacrifice that was made.

Luk 23:50  And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:
Luk 23:51  (The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.
Luk 23:52  This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
Luk 23:53  And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
Luk 23:54  And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.
Luk 23:55  And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.
Luk 23:56  And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.
Luk 24:1  Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
Luk 24:2  And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.
Luk 24:3  And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
Luk 24:4  And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:
Luk 24:5  And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?
Luk 24:6  He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,
Luk 24:7  Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.
Luk 24:8  And they remembered his words,
Luk 24:9  And returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest.
Luk 24:10  It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles.
Luk 24:11  And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.
Luk 24:12  Then arose Peter, and ran unto the sepulchre; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass.

He is not here.  He is not in the tomb, or the sepulcher.  He is risen.

Mat 28:6  He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

1Pe 1:18  Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
1Pe 1:19  But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

We are not redeemed with corruptible things like silver and gold.  The gospel is for the poorest person.  The precious blood of the Lamb of God is available to all.  We are redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus Christ.

Rev 5:6  And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.
Rev 5:7  And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.

Rev 5:12  Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

Rev 7:9  After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
Rev 7:10  And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.

Joh 19:34  But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.

The precious blood from this spotless lamb, the Lamb of God:  Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world.
