Brother Bill Wednesday Evening 4/9/14
2Sa 6:1 Again, David gathered together all the chosen men
of Israel, thirty thousand.
2Sa 6:2 And David arose, and went with all the people
that were with him from Baale of Judah,
to bring up from thence the ark of God, whose name is called by the name of the
LORD of hosts that dwelleth between the
cherubims.
2Sa 6:3 And they set the ark of God upon a new cart,
and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was
in Gibeah: and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drave the new cart.
2Sa 6:4 And they brought it out of the house of
Abinadab which was at Gibeah,
accompanying the ark of God: and Ahio went before the ark.
2Sa 6:5 And David and all the house of Israel played
before the LORD on all manner of instruments made
of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries, and on timbrels, and
on cornets, and on cymbals.
2Sa 6:6 And when they came to Nachon's
threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand
to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it.
2Sa 6:7 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against
Uzzah; and God smote him there for his
error; and there he died by the ark of God.
2Sa 6:8 And David was displeased, because the LORD
had made a breach upon Uzzah: and he called the name of the place Perezuzzah to
this day.
2Sa 6:9 And David was afraid of the LORD that day,
and said, How shall the ark of the LORD come to me?
2Sa 6:10 So David would not remove the ark of the LORD
unto him into the city of David: but David carried it aside into the house of
Obededom the Gittite.
2Sa 6:11 And the ark of the LORD continued in the
house of Obededom the Gittite three months: and the LORD blessed Obededom, and
all his household.
The ark of the Lord was taken to the house of Obededom and
was only there for three months. But
because the ark of God was in Obededom’s household, God blessed them. If we have God in our lives, God will bless
us.
2Sa 6:12 And it was told king David, saying, The LORD
hath blessed the house of Obededom, and all that pertaineth
unto him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of
God from the house of Obededom into the city of David with gladness.
The blessing was so prominent on his household that it was
known to the point that it was told to the king, “The Lord is with the house of
Obededom because of the ark of God.” The
blessing was so visible that the people were made aware of it.
What a beautiful life!
I wish we had 30 young people here to hear this lesson. What a wonderful life it is to have God in
our lives. I didn’t realize all the
storehouse of the blessedness of having God in my life when I first got
saved. All that God had in store for me!
The storehouse of God entailed more than just having a
companion. I didn’t realize the benefits
that came. Maybe sometimes it takes a
time of walking: living the life and walking with God to realize how wonderful we
have it.
The testimonies and expressions of the saints tonight of how
God intervened were wonderful. It is
wonderful to have God on our side.
By having God in our lives, God will bless our
household. If we could look through a
window and see what our life would have been like without having God… My life would have been different. Just the messes I was making of my life
before I got saved and I got saved when I was 16 years old. I was sowing bad seeds. It was just going to get worse in my life.
Pro 3:1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine
heart keep my commandments:
Pro 3:2 For length of days, and long life, and peace,
shall they add to thee.
You can have people in the world give you advice: “If you
put your money in these stocks, you will be successful.” You may or you may not. But when the Word of God says, “Keep my commandments
and this will come to pass,” then you can bank on it.
When the scripture says something then that is the way that
it will be because God says it.
Pro 3:3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind
them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:
Keep it close to you.
Keep the word of God and keep doing what is right and you will have the
mercy of God.
Pro 3:4 So shalt thou find favour and good
understanding in the sight of God and man.
To have favor of God and good understanding is to have good
success. If you want to really be successful,
then I tell you something. Talk of
success stories: if people live for God, what greater success can you have than
making heaven your home?
You were bound and had anger issues and fight issues, and
you could go on and on and God broke the chains of that and gave you a proper
life. You talk of a success story!
Because of God I can have favor even with man. If I hadn’t served God I would not have favor
with man. At the school, it is a different
scenario than some jobs. You put in an
application there and if you have a felony it shuts the door right there.
People don’t realize that what they sow they will reap. They don’t realize that they can have favor with
God and with man.
Pro 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and
lean not unto thine own understanding.
When people are young, they could have an understanding that
says, “If I don’t find a companion quick I will leave God and go out in the
world.” That is leaning to their own
understanding. God’s ways really pay
off. Lean not to your own understanding.
The law of sowing and reaping is even more pronounced and
sure than us as humans realize. With every
sin there is a reaping. There is no
action taken that doesn’t have a reward.
Whatever we sow…, as we are walking we are sowing seed behind us. Maybe one doesn’t even intend to sow
seeds. They are sowing seed whether they
realize it or not. It is a sure thing
that we reap what we sow.
Pro 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall
direct thy paths.
One of the benefits is to have God direct our paths. It is so wonderful to have God in our
lives! The hand of God can help us to
not do something stupid. At the time we
may think it is the only way out. He intervenes
and helps us in our decisions.
Pro 3:7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD,
and depart from evil.
Pro 3:8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow
to thy bones.
Pro 3:9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with
the firstfruits of all thine increase:
It will be good for us.
God help us to give our best.
Pro 3:10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and
thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
The Word of God never gets old. You read things and think, “I’ve never seen that
before. There is some new wine.” It is just something that is really good to
your heart.
Psa 68:4 Sing unto God, sing praises to his name:
extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him.
Psa 68:5 A father of the fatherless, and a judge of
the widows, is God in his holy
habitation.
Isn’t it good to have a good heavenly Father? We may not have a good natural father, but isn’t
it good that we have a good heavenly Father?
Judge or advocate of the widows: Isn’t it good to have God as your
advocate? Advocate means one that pleads
the cause of another. Isn’t it good to
have God to work on our behalf?
God truly worked on our behalf in what we went through this
winter. Going through that and having
the saints rally on our behalf and pray for us did something for me. I want to be one that rallies when the saints
need prayer.
Isn’t it good how we have God to work on our behalf? If I had not had God to work on my behalf, it
could have turned out in the negative. See
the blessings of having God in our lives?
Having Him as our Father and as our advocate, having Jesus as it says in
Romans as our intercessor and the Spirit making intercession for you, what a
wonderful blessing to have God in our lives!
He is an advocate of the widows, ones that unless they have
someone help them that are helpless. We
are helpless in ourselves in different situations. By having a wonderful God to work on our
behalf, we really have access to something good.
We are solitary when we are lonely. God sets the lonely in families.
Psa 68:6 God setteth the solitary in families: he
bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a
dry land.
Even when I was single, you saints were good to me. You had me over; it was awkward for me to
share someone’s family during the family times.
The saints didn’t mean it that way.
They were just trying to be what they are to me. It came from having God; I didn’t have to be
lonely.
Psa 68:10 Thy congregation hath dwelt therein: thou, O
God, hast prepared of thy goodness for the poor.
God has good things for His people.
Psa 68:19 Blessed be
the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation.
Selah.
He daily loads us with benefits.
Rev 22:1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of
life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
Rev 22:2 In the midst of the street of it, and on
either side of the river, was there the
tree of life, which bare twelve manner of
fruits, and yielded her fruit every
month: and the leaves of the tree were
for the healing of the nations.
Twelve manner of fruits:
what God has available for us is more than just help in one area. It is in various areas. We need different things from God. We may need fruit of correction, the fruit of
instruction, the fruit of encouragement…
You will not always need correction, there are times that
you need encouragement. When doing your
best for God you may need encouragement.
You may need the fruit of wisdom, or of healing of various types:
emotional healing, companionship from God.
Isn’t it good, it says, the leaves of the tree were for the
healing of the nations. Healing from a
life of sin, healing from anger issues. There
are people out there even in the ‘religious world’ that claim to have God and
they have anger issues and have to go to professionals to try to get healing;
they don’t get cured of it because they are not tapped into the tree.
Rev 22:3 And there shall be no more curse: but the
throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:
My life was open for curses before I got saved. Because of God and living for God I don’t
have to deal with curses. Not only is it
not a cursed life but a blessed. The blessings
come and overtake you. You can bank on
it because that is what the Bible says.
I don’t have to suffer anymore for wrong doings; there will
be no more wrong doings. I can be cured
from the man that I was.
Rev 22:4 And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.
I can be one of His. We
will see His face; we can see God when we get to heaven and have a greater
picture of how God is here.
Rev 22:5 And there shall be no night there; and they
need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light:
and they shall reign for ever and ever.
We can reign.
Rev 22:6 And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the
holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must
shortly be done.
These sayings are sure, they are true things.
2Co 6:18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall
be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
You can even, in your busy schedule if you have time, think
to yourself, “I am God’s daughter or son, and He is my Father.” That opens up some good thoughts that will
bless our hearts if we meditate on that.
Psa 48:14 For this God is
our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even
unto death.
No matter how old we get He can be our guide. He will always be there. “When your father and mother forsake you then
the Lord will take you up.” Maybe you
had good parents and they didn’t forsake you because they didn’t love you anymore
but life ended for them and they had to leave.
When they are gone, the Lord will take you up.
It is so wonderful to have God in our lives. To have God be God unto us: to be our
caregiver, our comforter, director, our guide, and to help us to know what to
do in life. It is so wonderful to have
God.
