Eph 6:10 be strong in the Lord.
What are some things that will make us strong in the
Lord? God will keep us and make us
strong. Take heed and listen to what God
gives us in our services.
Joh 17:11 And now I am no more
in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep
through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as
we are.
Jesus prayed, “Holy Father, keep through thy own name those
thou hast given me.” That was Jesus’
prayer for us: that they may be kept.
It is beautiful that we are in a congregation where we are
all in one body. This is something that
we should strive for. We have projects
in the basement and outside; we need to endeavor to be one and not allow our
opinions to come between us and the saints.
God help us to stay one in these things and in spiritual
things, to hold to the old paths and be Church of God, 100%. Brother Bill brought out that there are some
things that we can only learn one from another.
We need to be easily entreated with one another and be willing to
listen, hear and learn from our brother.
The professional fishermen fished all night, but Jesus told
them what to do. We may know a lot, but
God has the answer for us if we will listen and obey. When they did as He said, they pulled in a
big drought of fish.
These things will make us strong. Remember the avalanche in Missoula? We need to have our roots deep that will
support us in an avalanche. We never
know when we will face a spiritual or otherwise avalanche. We want to be strong and rooted in the Word.
1Co 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye
stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye
know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
This will take us having faith and taking root in the Word
of God. Storms will come but remember
the Master spoke peace to the storm.
Brother Bill encouraged us to put extra effort in
prayer. Are we still doing that? It is a life change to pray more. Take the good admonition.
Brother Gary brought of the prince, the first ruler and
chief. Have enough of God that the enemy
trembles when we come around instead of the other way. “Greater is He that is in us than He in the
world.” This power will come from us
praying more and availing ourselves to be strong and spiritual in the Lord.
Don’t fear the enemy, but fear God. He is the prince, the source of our strength,
that spoke peace to the storm and healed the lepers.
We need a daily fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our
lives. The Holy Spirit will keep sin
exceedingly sinful. Things are so
rampant in the world today and what was wrong is still wrong. We don’t want to be affected by that. We want to stay strong.
The Holy Spirit will keep us from drifting. It is easy to drift but we cannot afford to
drift. Keeping the Holy Spirit alive in
our lives will warn us from lukewarmness.
We want to recognize when it comes and be warned against it.
All kindreds of the earth will wail because of Him. If we will listen and take heed, it will make
us strong. What does God require but to
do justly? Do justly to yourself. Don’t just keep beating yourself up. Get it straight and be right with God and
don’t just keep beating yourself.
We need to be thankful.
The door of praise is always open.
Being thankful will make us strong.
Believing God’s promises will make us strong. By believing, not just reading and knowing
them, but really believing them will make us strong. Abraham was an example of one that really
believed what God said. He was tried,
and we all will be. We want to believe
God.
Before Abraham was tried, he had a testimony already of
loving God. He had fruits in his life and
had proved that he loved God in a lot of ways.
Gen 17:1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine,
the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am
the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
Gen 17:2 And I will make my covenant between me and
thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.
Gen 17:3 And Abram fell on his face: and God talked
with him, saying,
Abraham was 99 here.
Walk before me and be perfect. We
know that Abraham did this. God was
giving him some great promises here and he believed God.
Gen 13:8 And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no
strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy
herdmen; for we be brethren.
Gen 13:9 Is not
the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to
the right; or if thou depart to the
right hand, then I will go to the left.
This was the land that God had given Abraham, but he said,
“Let’s not have trouble.” He let Lot
pick; Lot picked the best land. He had
no right to do this. Abraham had been
good to him and raised him. Lot should
have said, “No, you pick first.”
We are to hold things with an open hand and let God have His
way. The beauty of his relationship with
God showed in his actions.
Gen 14:14 And when Abram heard that his brother was
taken captive, he armed his trained servants,
born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.
Here Abraham got his servants together and went out to rescue
Lot after how Lot had treated Him. He
had the fruits in his action for God.
Gen 18:1 And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains
of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;
Gen 18:2 And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo,
three men stood by him: and when he saw them,
he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground,
Gen 18:3 And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour
in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant:
Gen 18:4 Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched,
and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree:
Gen 18:5 And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and
comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come
to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said.
Gen 18:6 And Abraham hastened into the tent unto
Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth.
Gen 18:7 And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetcht a
calf tender and good, and gave it unto a
young man; and he hasted to dress it.
Gen 18:8 And he took butter, and milk, and the calf
which he had dressed, and set it before
them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat.
Abraham was a man that was extremely hospitable and got up
and did something about it. He had the
servant kill meat and Sarah prepare it and he himself served them. He was a good man and he was tried.
