Brother Gary Sunday Morning 4/7/13

Brother Gary Sunday Morning 4/7/13
I’m glad that this eternal God is alive, the Word of God is alive, and the promises of God are alive.  God has fulfilled His promises and many of them He has fulfilled over and over again in supplying our needs.

Act 1:1  The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,
Act 1:2  Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
Act 1:3  To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

Everything about God is vast.  When I think of God in creation, of God in His name, and of the various names that relate to God, I find everything vast.  The world that you and I know that God created, it is vast.  The sun is vast.  The stars that God created are vast.

When God plants flowers it is vast.  The sunflowers will soon cover the whole mountain.  He is that way also with us.  He has left us infallible proofs.  The proofs of His resurrection and His being seen:  He only needed to rise from the grave, leave it empty, and leave His testimony.  That would have been sufficient.  He showed Himself to the two Mary’s, infallible proofs.  He walked with the two from Emmaus.   And asked them, “Why are you sad?”

The first Sunday night after the resurrection He showed Himself to the ten and the next Sunday night He came back while Thomas was there.  Jesus knew what Thomas had said.  He said, “Thomas reach hither thy hand.  Reach in and feel my side.”  There are infallible proofs.

1 Corinthians chapter 15, Paul said and I paraphrase, “You know that God showed Himself to James too.  He showed Himself to me as one born out of due time.”  This was after Jesus had ascended.

Luk 24:46  And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
Luk 24:47  And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Jesus Himself appeared and said, “It behooved me to suffer so that this gospel would be preached.”  This is a wonderful thing to you and me.

Luk 24:48  And ye are witnesses of these things.
Luk 24:49  And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

Tarry until you be endued with power.  We live more than fast paced today even in Montana.  We think of those in a big city as living as if going on something faster than an elevator and faster than an escalator.  The enemy wants us going faster than a jet plane all the time.

Jesus steps on the scene and says, “There are all the nations in the world to be reached.  Everyone needs this message preached on repentance and remission of sin.  Before you get going too fast, there is something vital that I want to teach you.  I am going to send the promise of my father upon you but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you be endued with power from on High.”

Joh 14:15  If ye love me, keep my commandments.
Joh 14:16  And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

Before Jesus was crucified He left them this thought pattern, “I’m going to ask the Father to give you another comforter.”  They had received food, instruction, and miracles but Jesus was coming to the close of His earthly ministry and was preparing them for the dark hours and so that they would realize that He would send another comforter to abide with them forever.”

We live in 2013 there is no use wishing that we were here 100 years earlier.  We are here today.  It is extremely important that even as they needed the comforter after Jesus was crucified and ascended back to the father, we desperately need the Holy Spirit in our lives.

I’m not here to take your salvation or sanctification away from you.  Jesus prayed for it and I trust that you have it.  There are depths of sanctification and of possessing the Holy Spirit that God wants us to hunger for and tarry until we receive.  I’m not here to destroy or tear up.  That is not how I pastor.

I cannot tell you how bad it is out there in the world.  My personality is such that there is only so much that I can take and then I shut it down.  We want an abundance of the Holy Spirit in our life.

This comforter is the Spirit of Truth.  We are at the end of time and yet it is vital that you have the Spirit of Truth which is the Holy Spirit.  It is for your protection and so that you can stand against all evil and all error.

I am mind boggled at what is showing up in the religious world.  I’m not trying to find out about it I just want it so that when I meet a strange spirit that I am so endued with the love and Spirit of God that I recognize the spirit of error and desire to reach that hungry soul.  If they are on a mission to reach me I want to close that door immediately because my soul is at stake.

He was to send the comforter which is the Spirit of Truth.

This may have happened before many times but there are a great number of movements that have come into being that claim that they have the Holy Spirit and that they are full of the Holy Spirit without being saved.  There is a manifestation of a spirit but the world cannot receive the Holy Spirit of God.  They must be saved first.

The world cannot receive it because they don’t see or know it.

Joh 14:17  Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

We are so blessed to hunger for God.  When you make that statement people look at you like, “Aren’t you saved; don’t you have it all sewed up so that when you die you go to heaven?”

I am here to tell you that if you don’t grow then you will shrivel up and die.  History is full of statistics of people that ran well in the race and then something happened that they quit.  You don’t have to ruin your life or your testimony.

In the days of Emerson Wilson a young man came to him that had been raised in the church and said that he was going to quit God and the church and go out and live it up in sin so that he could have a testimony.  Emerson Wilson said, “Before you do that lets get a plank and some nails and hammer them in.”  When they pulled the nails out, the plank was still there but it was full of scars from the nails.

The boy said, “I get the message.”  You don’t have to go into drugs to be saved from drugs.  You don’t have to go out into deep sin to be delivered from sin.  You can rest assured for your own self and for every soul that you are dealing with.

Someone brought a request in for a lady that has a Jehovah’s Witness background.  There is deliverance for those people.  There is the same deliverance for them as for the alcoholic.  There is deliverance from everything in the world that the devil has to offer.

The message to all is that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever more.  As Jesus came to His disciples and promised salvation He said, “I will send the comforter and tarry until you be filled.”

Joh 16:7  Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

There is a depth to this that I have just kind of brushed.  I hope that you teach it back to me.

In the beginning God created heaven and earth.  The Word ‘God’ here represents the trinity of God.  Here we see Jesus telling His disciples that, “I have been here with you and I am going to return so the Holy Spirit can come and be in you,”

We will never be complete within ourselves without the Holy Spirit coming and dwelling within.  Jesus suffered and took the attitude that He had done it willingly so that you and I didn’t have to do it.  He did it so that we could have the Holy Spirit and the Father.

Joh 16:8  And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
Joh 16:9  Of sin, because they believe not on me;
Joh 16:10  Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
Joh 16:11  Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

The evidence that people are full of the Holy Spirit and God is that they don’t want anything to do with sin.  God sent the Holy Spirit reproving and convicting of sin.

We love to feel the conviction.  It is the Father saying, “Son or daughter don’t go there with a comment or conversation.”  When something comes that would take you away from God He says, “Don’t go there.”

He convicts the world of sin and of righteousness.  The way of the transgressor is hard.  We don’t have it tough.  If you think that you do then you have missed it.  The Holy Spirit convicts us of righteousness, “I want to do right in every situation not to please people but to please God and do what is right.

The Holy Spirit is the one that lays the strongest judgment upon us.  I love judgment preaching and to preach righteousness to the line and judgment to the plummet.  Yet when the Hoy Spirit says, “Gary Kelly you measure here.”  You can look here or there and all you see is the Holy Spirit.  That is not bad.  It is for our protection.

Joh 16:13  Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

We are so blessed to have had Easter again.  We are blessed that our worshiping didn’t end when the tomb was empty.

He will guide you into all truth.  Those people whose minds are all confused need to go back to the cross and to the infilling of the Holy Spirit because He will guide you to all things.

The Holy Spirit always takes the focus off of humanity and gives it to Jesus Christ.  The Holy Spirit causes men to say, “I’m desperate before God.”

Joh 16:14  He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
Joh 16:15  All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
