Brother Gary Kelly Wednesday Evening 4/24/13
Luk 10:38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he
entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him
into her house.
Luk 10:39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also
sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.
Luk 10:40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving,
and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me
to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
Luk 10:41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many
things:
Luk 10:42 But one thing is
needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away
from her.
We can be distracted and troubled about many things. Being distracted by a problem will not solve
the problem but will only cause you to not be where you should be, at Jesus’
feet.
Mary had chosen that good part.
The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit come and visit us
daily. The statisticians tell us that
there are 315,000,000 people in the United States of America. We cannot grasp 315,000,000 people. We serve a God that knows all about these
people. He knows more than that; He
knows about everyone in the world. We
have a mighty big God.
Daily distractions press upon us but we must choose the good
part and choose to be with Jesus and rest upon His word.
Distractions are not just something that showed up in the
last century or two. Mary chose the good
part. One of the characteristics of God
is that God is good. He is this way
because He is God. He didn’t get it from
anywhere else, He is God. This good part
comes from God who is good.
It is that which is beautiful and produces beauty. If we want our life to have beauty it will
because we make the choice to not be distracted when it comes to spiritual
things.
It is that which is virtuous and produces virtue. Tomorrow when I get up I can become
frustrated and distracted. The
distractions don’t just start at 7 in the morning. I get up before then and they could just move
in, but there is something better and that is to choose the good part.
The good part is that which is better and produces good
results. We are looking for results.
Daily we’re invited to come before God and the Son, and
daily the enemy distracts us. This is an
old wile of the enemy. In the days of
Job the sons of God came before God and so did Satan.
Most of us have our morning devotions in a certain
spot. We have a chair or a desk or
wherever. When you begin to prepare to
seek God, we want to have some boundaries.
It is holy ground where we meet with God; we don’t deal with all the
cares of our life or financials challenges or other challenges while we have
devotions. We don’t want it to be a time
of being distracted by the distractions that everyone has in their life.
In the day of Job, the enemy also showed up before God. I guarantee that the devil April 24, 2013 is
working to distract the people of God. The
devil is very ill at ease with you having your devotions. He doesn’t want you to have your
devotions.
It is not enough to just believe in God, the devils also
believe and tremble. It is not enough to
just hold your position. We need to
pray. The devil doesn’t want you to pray. Our prayer is not about a good garlic crop
but for spiritual things. God hears and
answers prayer.
1Pe 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary
the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
You and I need to have it as part of our knowledge that the
enemy is going to be out to distract us.
This doesn’t mean that God doesn’t love you or that there is something
wrong with you spiritually. It means
that your life, your soul is so valuable that the enemy walks about trying to
mess it up.
Resist him steadfast in the faith. You know that the enemy hast to flee when you
claim the blood of Jesus Christ. When
the children of Israel had the blood on the doorpost and the sides of the door,
the death angel had to pass over there.
When you confess and turn from your sin and the blood is applied, when
you plead the blood, the enemy cannot come and distract you, he must go.
We must have good devotions if we are to stand fast and have
good success spiritually. We must claim
the blood. Distraction is a common
battle, but we need to win. I want to
win the battle, I want you to teach me everything that you can learn too so
that I can win the battle.
The thief comes to rob.
If he can rob us out of devotions, he has left us limping for the
day. He has left us without spiritual
food and strength for the day.
If he robs us of our devotions then our faith will be
weak. Unbelief wants to take you so that
you end up not even praying.
The thief comes to rob.
We are so blessed to have the bible.
It is a treasure that is full of treasures. In all due respect to Bro Warner, to Bro
Henry, to DO Teasley, to Bro Turnbow, to Bro Wilson, to FG Smith, to Bro
McConahae, to the humility, and their ability to teach and preach, they didn’t
exhaust the mine. The door is not closed
and the treasure house is not empty.
Their God is still alive today and has treasure. Not taking away from them, I want to be knit
to them. We want to realize that God has
marvelous truths to highlight and emphasize.
The thief comes to kill our joy, our faith, and our
testimony and he comes to destroy.
This testimony (Isaiah 59:19): “When the enemy shall come in
like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.”
I’m not sure that I’ve had very many times with only one
drip of water falling on my head that the enemy sent my way. He comes as a rushing flood that has been
turned loose from a dam that has been broken and there are a million gallons of
water that move against you.
The Holy Spirit lifts up a stand against Him. Stay in a good relationship with The Father,
The Son, and The Holy Ghost. When you
feel the enemy trying to distract you he is trying to take away your faith,
your beauty and your joy. May the Holy
Spirit of God lift up a standard against him and say that is not going to
happen.
Satan tried to distract Jesus in every way. Jesus was hungry; he tried to distract him
with the hunger. He tried to distract
him with what he didn’t have to give. A
lot of times his distractions are nothing but lies.
1Co 7:35 And this I speak for your own profit; not
that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may
attend upon the Lord without distraction.
God help me to keep my life in order so that I am not
distracted here, I am not distracted there, and I am not distracted by what the
enemy would move in on me. We all have a
certain amount of information come to us from other sources, but God help me to
know how to handle it so that I am not distracted from doing what God wants me
to do.
Mary chose the good thing.
May God help me to not be distracted so that I can choose what God has
for me.
