Bro Gary Wednesday Night 3/7/12

Bro Gary Wednesday Night 3/7/12
Has anyone something to bring on Zech 4?

Sis Timberly: when Jesus healed Legion they sent Jesus away, they didn’t want His influence.  How many times do we send Jesus away because we want to stay in our comfort zone?

Two men sick in intensive care, one near a window and encouraging the other would tell about what had happened out of the window: children playing in the park and all sorts of wonderful things.  They both started getting better.  The one away from the window started feeling jealous of the one by the window and ceased to increase in health.  No one knew why; he told no one of his jealousy.

One night the man by the window started coughing and the other did not pull the buzzer.  The one by the window kept coughing throughout the night.  In the morning the workers found that he had died.  The other man asked to be moved by the window.  When he looked out there was only a brick wall.

It is foolish to be jealous of another.  We do not know the trials that they are going through.  What we are jealous of may be their brick wall.

Joh 10:41  And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this man were true.

You may feel very discontent with yourself; you have no gifts and mediocrity may be your lot in life.  John did no great miracle and was only a voice.  Be willing to be only a voice, a mirror that reflects the sun.  Do the commonest and smallest thing as beneath His eye.

If you have made a mistake, then don’t allow it to yield bitterness but lock it away and allow it to draw you close to God and work for Him.  We don’t feel like we are anything.  God can use little things.  It is not by might nor by power but by His Spirit.

God has not despised the day of small things.  Zech 4:10

Bro Gary
Zec 4:1  And the angel that talked with me came again, and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep,
Zec 4:2  And said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which are upon the top thereof:
Zec 4:3  And two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon the left side thereof.
Zec 4:4  So I answered and spake to the angel that talked with me, saying, What are these, my lord?
Zec 4:5  Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.
Zec 4:6  Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.

It will not be by a big thing or a big show.  It is by God’s Spirit.  If we are just a mirror to shine the light then we are working for God.  It is so amazing how one person lifting the standard bar high, (e.g. the standard of being a good teacher), when they lift a high standard that lifts a high standard for other teachers.

When we do a good job at what we do it lifts a high standard.  Everyone in this audience tonight carries a duel burden.  We are burdened for each other: there are common trials and there are unique things in individual’s lives, things that are rarely mentioned.  We are also burdened for others.

You and I know that God uses things to bring back the mind to prepare to meet God.  As we do our best to pour the oil and the wine into the hurting, we believe that God, in the process of time, will heal the heart.  Yet that will not take away the vacancy of a loss.

Sometimes God allows us to experience some things so that we can tell someone else, “I’ve been there.  Yet I didn’t choose to be there.  That was a dark night.”  Healing doesn’t come in an instant, but day by day.  It gives you and me the opportunity to pour the oil in and believe this scripture, “it is not by might nor by power but by My Spirit”

It is wonderful that some are praying for my brother.  I can pray for the Sheridans as their son is going to Afghanistan.  I’ve never been there but I can pray.  I am a parent.

I love the word picture that Zechariah paints for us in the fourth chapter of the two lamps with the seven golden pipes and the two olive trees.  As I walked today, I could picture the pipes pouring the oil into my life.  We must keep the channel unplugged coming into our lives.  We can’t allow any cover over our life but keep the lamp trimmed and burning.

It is wonderful to know about the Spirit of God and the Word of God being the two olive trees pouring oil into our lives.  It is wonderful to have God draw near to us.

Isa 61:1  The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
Isa 61:2  To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
Isa 61:3  To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

Praising God brings an anointing to us.

Zec 4:11  Then answered I, and said unto him, What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon the left side thereof?
Zec 4:12  And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?
Zec 4:13  And he answered me and said, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.
Zec 4:14  Then said he, These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.

Joh 6:63  It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

The two anointed ones are the Word of God and the Spirit of God.  For whatever the need an individual has, when they honestly begin to seek God and read the Word of God this word of God becomes alive.

I wanted to speak to a young man this week and had this thought: when a young man’s life is out of course and he wants to get his life on course, if he will begin reading the Word of God then it will become spirit and life.  It is still the Word of God but it will have life to it.

Psa 119:9  BETH. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

The challenge is will they begin to seek God and the Word of God so that it will become life to them?

Joh 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2  The same was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Joh 1:4  In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

The Word of God gives life.  The life is the light of men.  The Word of God all goes together like a perfect chain.  The two anointed ones of the whole earth empty their oil into the bowl.  The word gives life and light.  This is applicable to sinners and to the saint.

When there is something that you need an answer to, this Word of God brings light.  We don’t tell God when to give the answer, we are instructed that in patience we possess our soul.

Bro Bill: in Psalms 119 it instructs various things that the Word of God does.

Psa 19:7  The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
Psa 19:8  The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
Psa 19:9  The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
Psa 19:10  More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Psa 19:11  Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
Psa 19:12  Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.
Psa 19:13  Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
Psa 19:14  Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

The word converts the soul, makes wise the simple.  There is a lot of depth to this scripture.  We must be simply trusting God to get an answer.  The thought of being simple isn’t the thought of being ignorant but knowing that we need an answer from God.

The statutes of the Lord are what will make us happy.  The commandments will give us an understanding.  The fear of God will help us to sustain our spiritual life.  The word is more valuable than much fine gold because the wealth of this world will satisfy you temporarily as far as monetary things but obeying the Word of God will get you to heaven.

Today people that are really wealthy are many of them very paranoid.  They cannot enjoy what they have because they think that someone is out there to rip them off.  The life of God’s children is just the opposite.  Instead of worrying about being taken advantage of, they have it in their hearts to give.

The rich would be much happier if they knew God and just wanted to be a steward over what God had given them.  When you open the door to the enemy you actually put yourself into a position of becoming a ceiled house where there is nothing going out and nothing coming in.  You get more bitter, more suspicious, more evil and you end up looking at those you once trusted with strange eyes.

By them is thy servant warned.

Psa 29:1  A Psalm of David. Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength.
Psa 29:2  Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
Psa 29:3  The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters.
Psa 29:4  The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
Psa 29:5  The voice of the LORD breaketh the cedars; yea, the LORD breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.
Psa 29:6  He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.
Psa 29:7  The voice of the LORD divideth the flames of fire.
Psa 29:8  The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness; the LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh.
Psa 29:9  The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory.
Psa 29:10  The LORD sitteth upon the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever.
Psa 29:11  The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.

When I think of the voice of the Lord, I think of the Word of God.  We cannot live above sin in our self, but because of the Word of God doing a work in us we can live a victorious life.  The Word of God can take a hard heart and go forth and break that hard, big, tough cedar and do a work in that heart so that they can yield themselves to God.

The word of God can come forth and deal with a heart and cause a spiritual birth to take place.  It will cause joy in that heart.

Bro Gary: Verse 6. He makes them to skip like the calf.  It is amazing how refreshing and rejuvenating a taste of spring time that the Spirit of God is.  In the spring, the calves throw up their hind legs and jump around, playing.  In a world that would leave you and I dragging around, oh for the voice of the Lord so that we may have joy.

The half has never yet been told of the greatness of God.  It just gets bigger and bigger and we thank God for it.
