Sister Sunny Sunday Evening 2/5/12

Sister Sunny Sunday Evening 2/5/12
Deu 33:27  The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.
Deu 33:28  Israel then shall dwell in safety alone: the fountain of Jacob shall be upon a land of corn and wine; also his heavens shall drop down dew.
Deu 33:29  Happy art thou, O Israel: who is like unto thee, O people saved by the LORD, the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy excellency! and thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee; and thou shalt tread upon their high places.

The eternal God:  In science when they study the infinitely small, quantum physics, there is no certainty.  There is only probabilities and chaos.  In mathematics when they look at infinity there are no absolutes.  There is no completeness axiom that would answer all questions and solve all mysteries.

As Cantor looked for a completeness axiom, all he found were only impossibilities and chaos.  He and other mathematicians and scientists thought that through study and logic they could discover an axiom that would tie everything together and give man a godlike knowledge of the universe and that would allow them to understand and prove everything with solidity and certainty.

There are infinities that are larger than other infinities and contradictions of all kinds.  It has been proven that no matter how wide a base you build from, there will be things that are true that cannot be proven true.  So logic, the most pure form of thinking itself is insufficient.

Our eternal God created infinity, He created quantum physics, He created what mathematicians, scientists, and philosophers call chaos, and He created order in this chaos.

A seed is planted and a tree grows and you see beautiful order in the midst of chaos.  There are many trees and they produce many kinds of fruits.  Vegetables and other food producing plants grow to sustain all life, the sun shines, and there is order in the midst of chaos.

The planets rotate on their axes; they have moons that revolve around them that each have their own axes that they rotate on.  The moons revolve around the planets as the planets revolve around the sun as the sun revolves around the center of our galaxy.  There are unnumbered other stars that have planets that have moons within our galaxy.  Our galaxy is just one small speck of light that has its position in the universe among unnumbered other specks of light.  There is beautiful order created by God that is infinite.

This earth has water that stays in its bounds, oxygen that we breathe, gravity and other physical laws that allow us to survive, and the earth produces all the food that we need.  Here is order in the midst of chaos.  All order and predictability and all that man calls chaos is created by God.

Psa 147:4  He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.
Psa 147:5  Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.

He is the God of infinity.

John Gill -  it his understanding reaches to all things past, that have been, to everything present, and to whatsoever is to come; it includes not only the knowledge of all things that are, or certainly will be, but of all things possible, or which he could bring into being if he would.

1Sa 15:29  And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent.

Strength - H5331 (Brown D B’s dictionary)
1) eminence, perpetuity, strength, victory, enduring, everlastingness

It is wonderful to have a source of strength and victory that is infinite, enduring, and everlasting.  He is not a man.  He does not make mistakes, He does not cheat, He is never untrue, He is always faithful, and His understanding is infinite.

2Co 12:9  And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Php 4:13  I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

He inhabits eternity.  He was before the beginning of time and will be after time ends.  He is the God of infinity.

Psa 90:1  A Prayer of Moses the man of God. Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.
Psa 90:2  Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

He was here for all generations past, He is here for this generation, and He will be here for every generation to come.  He is eternal.

Psa 102:24  I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: thy years are throughout all generations.
Psa 102:25  Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.
Psa 102:26  They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:
Psa 102:27  But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.

Only God is eternal.  Everything else is passing.  Only God is unchanging, everything else will wax old.  He is always the same.  He is immutable; He will never grow old or tired.  He is incorruptible.  He is the infinite God.

Psa 103:15  As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.
Psa 103:16  For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.
Psa 103:17  But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;
Psa 103:18  To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.
Psa 103:19  The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.

As God was to man in the beginning, so He will be to all generations.  His character will never change.  “His mercy is from everlasting to everlasting to them that fear Him, and His righteousness unto children’s children.”
He is the everlasting, the I AM, the eternal God, JEHOVAH.

John Gill - immutable in his nature and perfections; in his love and affections to his people; in his power to protect and keep them; in his wisdom to guide and direct them; in his righteousness to clothe them, and render them acceptable to God; in his blood to cleanse them, and speak peace and pardon to them; in his fulness to supply them, and in his intercession for them.

He rules over all.  There is nothing that is not included in this all.  The size of the universe is unknown.  It may be without end, because we serve an infinite God that is able to work with infinity.  He created the infinitely small and the large.  He created everything and He rules over all.  He is an infinite God.

Psa 71:3  Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.

Continually – Brown D B’s dictionary
1) continuity, perpetuity, to stretch
1a) continually, continuously (as adverb)
1b) continuity (substantive)

When something is continuous then there is no break in it.  In the time-line of God’s being there for us, there is no break; it is continuous.  There is also no beginning and no end; it is continuous from negative infinity to positive infinity.  We may continually resort to Him.  He is the eternal God, the God of infinity.

Isa 9:6  For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Isa 9:7  Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

His kingdom is ordered and established with judgment and justice and extends from now to forever.  There is no end to the increase of His government and peace.  He is the wonderful counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace both now and forever.  He is the eternal God.

Judgment - BDB Definition:

1c) ordinance
1d) decision (in law)
1e) right, privilege, due (legal)
1f) proper, fitting, measure, fitness, custom, manner, plan

Judgment is order; it is ordinances, decisions, rights, and privileges.  It is proper and fitting and establishes measure, fitness, custom, manner and plan.  God is a God of judgment and justice and these are what establish His kingdom.

Justice - BDB Definition:
1) justice, righteousness
1a) righteousness (in government)
1b) righteousness (of God’s attribute)
1c) righteousness (in a case or cause)
1d) righteousness, truthfulness
1e) righteousness (as ethically right)
1f) righteousness (as vindicated - defended; justified; supported or maintained as true or correct, against denial, censure or objections.), justification, salvation
1f2) prosperity (of people)

Isa 57:13  When thou criest, let thy companies deliver thee; but the wind shall carry them all away; vanity shall take them: but he that putteth his trust in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain;
Isa 57:14  And shall say, Cast ye up, cast ye up, prepare the way, take up the stumblingblock out of the way of my people.
Isa 57:15  For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

He that puts his trust in God will inherit His holy mountain.  God, who inhabits eternity, will dwell with those that are of a contrite and humble spirit and those that will put their trust in Him.  God is Holy; His name represents His character.  He is at all times whom He says He is.  His kingdom is established with righteousness and order.  We cannot bring the paths down to a lower level and still say that His holy mountain is our inheritance.

Cast up, prepare the way, and remove the stumbling-blocks.  Lift the path Bible high.  God dwells in the high and holy place.  The only way we can dwell with Him is to be humble and contrite.  Dare to put your trust in the eternal God.  Dare to lose your life, your righteousness, and anything that you think will bring your self honor in order to find your life in Him.  Give Him all glory, honor, and praise; He is worthy.  He is the eternal God.

He revives the spirit of the humble and the heart of the contrite.

Revive – BDB dictionary:

1a2a) from sickness, from discouragement, from faintness, from death
1b3) to quicken, revive, refresh
1b3a) to restore to life, to cause to grow, to restore, to revive

Jer 10:10  But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.
Jer 10:11  Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens.
Jer 10:12  He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion.
Jer 10:13  When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.
Jer 10:14  Every man is brutish in his knowledge: every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.
Jer 10:15  They are vanity, and the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.
Jer 10:16  The portion of Jacob is not like them: for he is the former of all things; and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: The LORD of hosts is his name.

Man is brutish in his knowledge: his knowledge is many times falsehood and the work of errors.  Man tries to make true what he wants to be true rather than trust in God and His word.  Every discoverer is confounded by what he has discovered.

God is not like man, He has infinite understanding.  He is the former of all things.  It is amazing that He would choose us as His portion just as He wants to be our portion.  His people are His inheritance.

He is the Lord of Hosts, of heaven and of earth, of angels and of men.  He is in control of everything.

Deu 33:27  The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.

Isa 59:1  Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

God is just the same today.  His hand is not shortened; His ear is not heavy.  If there any lack it is not in Him.  He, the eternal God, is our refuge and underneath are the everlasting arms.
