If we depend on our own reasoning we will get things all out of kilter.  Our human reasoning will tend to put importance to the things that are in the world: power, influence, authority, possessions, security, etc.

(All the foundations of the World are out of course.  For all that is in the world are the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.)  Desires and pride are empty things.
Reaching and grasping and never arriving.  Hungering and thirsting and never filled.  Devouring and consuming and leaving the life broken and empty.
Our human reasoning will think that one person is more important than another.  We would rather be friends with this well liked individual that seems to have everything together and not take time for another that is needy.
Human reasoning blinds us; we will not be able to receive direction from God to reach out to a needy soul because we are groping for something that God is not in.
If we let anything get out of its proper position, then it will be a high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.  It will interfere with and contradict the good.  It will discount the things of God as unimportant or lesser than they are.
We want His way to be high and lifted up and all our ways to be seen as the filthy rags that they are.

Isa 55:6  Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
Isa 55:7  Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
Isa 55:8  For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
Isa 55:9  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

“Thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory!”  Life and death are from God.  He can make the dry tree flourish and He can dry up the green tree.  He is the Alpha and Omega; the beginning and the end.  He can bring down the high tree and He exalts the low tree.  He is Almighty and all are in His hand.  (Eze 17:24)

Why do we try to put our reasoning and imagination into things and think that we know better than God?  Has God any need of counsel from man?  Serve God; worship God!  Focus on Him and leave the rest, the working out of what should or should not be, to Him.

Hallowed be Thy Name!  Respected and honored above every name that is named whether in heaven or in earth.

Rom 1:21  Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Rom 1:22  Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

We need to be careful that God is the one that is highly esteemed in our hearts and minds.  Not our own desires, plans, or ambitions, not our self or our honor, Not any other man or woman, Not creature or creation, only God be glorified.

Glorified - G1392 δοξάζω doxazō
1) to think, suppose, be of opinion(esteem)
2) to praise, extol, magnify, celebrate
3) to honour, do honour to, hold in honour
4) to make glorious, adorn with lustre, clothe with splendour
4a) to impart glory to something, render it excellent
4b) to make renowned, render illustrious
4b1) to cause the dignity and worth of some person or thing to become manifest and acknowledged

We need to be thankful.  It, among other things, is a protection to us.  We will never get in trouble in our mind while focusing on being thankful and worshipping God.

Imagination - G1261 διαλογισμός dialogismos
1) the thinking of a man deliberating with himself
1a) a thought, inward reasoning
1b) purpose, design
2) a deliberating, questioning about what is true
2a) hesitation, doubting
2b) disputing, arguing

Vain - G3154 ματαιόω mataioō mat-ah-yo'-o - From G3152;
to render (passively become) foolish, that is, (morally) wicked or (specifically) idolatrous: - become vain.

Darkened – (metaphorically) for the eyes, the understanding, and the mind to be deprived of light.

1Co 3:18  Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
1Co 3:19  For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
1Co 3:20  And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
1Co 3:21  Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;

The wisdom of the world is foolishness with God.

2Co 10:17  But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

Having things in improper positions in your esteem will cause you to be silent when you should speak and to feel boundaries where there should be none.  It will create a self consciousness that will tie you up in knots.

2Co 10:5  Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

We need to keep a watch on our mind so that every perception, every purpose, every disposition, and every thought is tested as soon as it enters the vestibule through attentive harkening, compliance, and submission to Jesus Christ.
