Bro Gary Wednesday Evening 7/20/11

Bro Gary Wednesday Evening 7/20/11

In Matthew 20, the parable of the Husbandman: those that had worked a long time got an attitude against those that just worked for a short time.  God help us to not get an attitude after we’ve labored for Him.

Gal 6:9  And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

We must remember to keep our eyes on Jesus and know that our labor is not in vain in the lord.  Don’t be weary in well doing even if the harvest hasn’t yet appeared.

2Th 3:13  But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.

The children have a lot of energy but we know that after a while that energy will be exhausted.  Sometimes we need to rest.  When we become weary in the journey it robs us of praise.  There are many things in life that could discourage us and make us weary.  When souls choose the lower road, when they choose cheap religion, and choose to live for self it is discouraging.

We want to look at the value of praise.

Psa 65:1  To the chief Musician, A Psalm and Song of David. Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed.

Among the greatest things that we have to praise God for are not visible or tangible.  Many people know nothing about God.  Even if they would tell you that they know about God, they don’t know anything about the God that gave His son and that sent the Holy Spirit to be the comforter.

The apostle Paul was a religious man of the strictest sect of the Pharisees.  After he was converted he wrote to the Corinthians, “That I may know Him.”  It is wonderful to know the attributes of God, to know how to get to God, to know how to get a hold of God.

Psa 50:14  Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High:

God is a God of all power.  He has set lots of things in order that work because God made it that way: the water, the trees, etc.  In our individual lives we know the power of God because the blood of Christ was shed so that we can be saved.  After being saved we can come back and present our bodies a living sacrifice and have the carnal man eradicated and be filled with the Spirit of God.

Not only can we know the power of God but we can know that He is a God of might, of miracles.  "Don’t give up on the brink of a miracle. There are physical needs in the saints of healing.  God has the power to heal and the power to do a miracle.

When it comes to buying a house, there are things that you may qualify for and God can help you to find them, but sometimes we need a miracle.  God moved for Bro Vern on his eyesight, he knew he wouldn't pass the eye test and had the saints pray.  The doctor tested him and said that for some reason you can’t see to pass the test but you can see so I’ll sign you off.  God has moved over and over again.  There are many reasons to praise God.

It’s not all about having a perfect life.  It’s about knowing God, being able to pray, having hope for hopeless situations.  You can be so weary looking at problems; when you look at God and begin to praise Him, then it is encouraging.

God ordained that men could find God from any location on the face of the earth.  We may have been shut out if it wasn’t that way.  There is no one that you pray for that cannot find God where they are.  If they seek God with all their heart they can find God.

The availability of God: you can seek Him any hour of the day.  We may not be able to get a hold of someone but we can get a hold of God.

Psa 50:23  Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.

Psa 107:1  O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Higher than the heavens!

Psa 107:2  Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;

We can get under something so that we don’t have any praise.  Let the redeemed of the Lord say so.

Psa 107:3  And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south.
Psa 107:4  They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in.
Psa 107:5  Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.

This story of wandering is repeated over and over again in men and women’s lives.  The reason for this is that they look into their own heart for direction and let it deceive them.  It is wonderful that when they reach the place where they cry unto God, begin seeking after Him, then God will deliver them out of their distresses.

Psa 107:6  Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.
Psa 107:7  And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.

This is the Church of God, the mount Zion where God dwells.

Psa 150:1  Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
Psa 150:2  Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
Psa 150:3  Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
Psa 150:4  Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
Psa 150:5  Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
Psa 150:6  Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

Praise ye the Lord.  Be not weary in well doing.
