Bro Gary Sunday PM 7/3/11

Bro Gary Sunday PM 7/3/11

As I looked at the scriptures this week, I had the same heart-cry as Isaiah that God would come down.

Isa 64:1  Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at thy presence,
Isa 64:2  As when the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil, to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at thy presence!
Isa 64:3  When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountains flowed down at thy presence.
Isa 64:4  For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.

A companion scripture:

1Co 2:9  But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

You and I are blessed to be alive in the Gospel Day.  Beyond a shadow of a doubt God has prepared wonderful spiritual things for His children, those that wait for Him and love Him.

1Co 2:10  But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

It is wonderful that over and over again, as we wait on God love Him and seek Him, God in His greatness keeps revealing and adding to what He has already taught us.  God has ordained that we be saved and have Jesus the Son and God the Father come to live in our hearts, but He also ordained that we be sanctified, having died out to carnality and the flesh, and be filled with the Holy Spirit of God.

“The Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God.”  We are satisfied but we are hungry.  For all the good things that God has entrusted his people with: all the good Sunday school lessons, the good messages, the good songs and devotionals, and the good books that have been written; yet we hunger after His Word.  When we go to his Word, God has provided for us the Holy Spirit of God that searches and teaches all things, even the deep things of God.

1Co 2:11  For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

We are taught in Proverbs about seeking after God.  We’re taught there of the simple man, God is so kind to reach out to souls that have been placed in a situation where they are simple, not mentally inadequate, but in a vulnerable place in life.

Pro 8:1  Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?
Pro 8:2  She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths.
Pro 8:3  She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors.
Pro 8:4  Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man.
Pro 8:5  O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.

We know that when people are in a vulnerable situation they are easily deceived.  Things will sound good and right to the fleshly mind and heart.

Oh you that would be easily influenced understand wisdom and hear.

Pro 8:6  Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.
Pro 8:7  For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
Pro 8:8  All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.
Pro 8:9  They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.
Pro 8:10  Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.
Pro 8:11  For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

There is something about loving God and waiting on God, “God always comes through.”  You may not be waiting on God for a specific answer tonight but some in this audience are.  You may need direction in a situation in your family or home.  You’re going to be faced with whatever.  We want more than just to have the door opened; we want to have God go with us through that door.  That is important.

God help us to be careful of what influences we may face us as we go into an open door.  When we’re going to a place where there is a great need, we want God to go with us and the Holy Spirit to have gone before us.  God has a way of causing the preconceived ideas to be broken.  He knows how to help us to say the right things.  (I know how to say the wrong things.)  God knows how to open His mouth and we know how to open our ears.  There is nothing forward or perverse in the words of God.  They are all in righteousness.  We each can say that “indeed eye has not seen and ear has not heard.”

Wisdom is better than silver and knowledge is better than gold.  God help us to stay true and not get a bad attitude that would cause us to lose out with Him.  Silver and gold can help us purchase things in this world, but what God gives us transcends time.

Pro 8:12  I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.
Pro 8:13  The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

Hate pride, hate arrogance.

Pro 8:14  Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.
Pro 8:15  By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.
Pro 8:16  By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.
Pro 8:17  I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.
