Bro Gary Wednesday Night 6/15/11

Bro Gary Wednesday Night 6/15/11
Heb 9:26  For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

It is so wonderful that Jesus came.  I have some understanding of what the Bible teaches of principalities.  Jesus came into a world that planned to destroy Him.  That plan is as active, real, and powerful as it ever has been.  The other side of this story is:

Col 2:14  Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Col 2:15  And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Jesus endured the discouragement.  We will face discouragement.  Sometimes we will be burdened and praying up a storm and it seems like others are sleeping.  Jesus endured this.

Betrayal, People will betray you.  They will lie on you and tell you what it is like in the church in Paradise and they have never been here.  Don’t allow betrayal to stop you.

Jesus was scourged.  They thought they were so wise; they put an inscription on the cross, “King of the Jews.”  He is not only the king of the Jews, He is King of kings.  Yet Jesus went right on.

May God help us to get through the chuck-hole with our eye on eternity and on God and be determined that we are not going to make heart-wreck, shipwreck or any other wreck.

Jesus suffered stripes, He was beat up and bleeding, and He went right on.  The next thing He endured was the cross and He went right on.  They spit on Him.  We may have people look down on us and have that special way of wrinkling up their nose.  I don’t care if they wrinkle up both sides of their nose.  I know where I came from and I know some of what it cost for me to be saved.

They mocked Him.  We will all run into some of those wise guys.  I have a shirttail relative that makes fun of me.  I don’t care.  Jesus went right on.

Jesus was exhausted.  I really get tired.  When you’re exhausted and the devil troubles you, it is tough.  Jesus was there, so tired that he couldn’t bear the cross and someone else picked it up and carried it for Him.

The principalities of darkness and evil thought they were done with Jesus when He died on the cross, but they were not done with Jesus.  He is just as alive and real today.

Isa 53:4  Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

He knows all about grief, our sorrows He carried.  He did it for us.

Isa 53:5  But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

There is no way to have peace on our own.  There was no way for me to pay the price that would have been just and right to bring peace to me.  Jesus paid it.  Jesus was nailed to the cross on a hill called Golgotha.  He not only heard the thud, he felt the thud of the cross going into the old hole.

He endured the cross that we might have peace.  The thought came to me this week to read the entire book of Micah.  When I came to the 7th chapter and the 19th verse I read, “Thou shalt cast all of their sins into the depths of the sea.”

The ocean is deep, if the devil wants to talk to you about your past sins, tell him to go drown himself.  He didn’t put our sins on the shore in a tablet or a bottle for someone to find it.

We live in a world so corrupt that if you think about our times you wouldn’t sleep tonight.  I want to tell you, ‘Jesus is in control.’  He spoiled all principalities it tells us in Colossians 2:15.

There are times when the enemy comes with flood upon flood.  Jesus spoiled all principalities.  God is going to take care of you.

One of these days we’ll get to see Jesus and be able to tell Him, “It is because of you that I’m here.”
