Bro Gary Sunday Morning 6/5/11

Bro Gary Sunday Morning 6/5/11
Isa 11:10  And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.

This is a prophecy of Jesus.  He was born of a humble birth and his mother was Mary.  Everyplace we go and everything we see helps us to understand that Jesus is Christ the messiah and is Lord of lords.  He died on the cross and his side was opened; his blood was spilt so that we could be forgiven and be cleansed from the nature that we have from Adam.

His rest is glorious!  The other end of rest is the beginnings of unrest.  The times that are past, the times of the present, and whatever the future may hold:  People are not satisfied; they are full of unrest.  They have a car and a boat and they still are not satisfied.  There is a reason why they are not satisfied; unrest began in the Garden of Eden and it is in every soul that hasn’t given their life to God.

Gen 3:1  Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

When you know that the enemy is talking, it is best to not even have a conversation with him.

Gen 3:2  And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

God is a God of liberty.  He’s given us many things to do in life in which there is no sin.  God is a God of lines and precepts.  He said let there be light and there was light.

Gen 3:3  But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

God is specific in his lines in that He gives definite instruction.  You won’t be saved very long before you know that you need to read the scripture and hunger and thirst after righteousness.  You won’t be saved very long and you will realize that you have a tongue that the scripture says no man can tame and you will recognize that you need God to tame it.

Gen 3:4  And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

The devil was a liar from the beginning.

Gen 3:5  For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

There is only one true God.  There are many gods of the world; some religions teach that if you keep on believing as they do then you’ll become a god.  There is only one God.

Gen 3:6  And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Gen 3:7  And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
Gen 3:8  And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

Adam and Eve heard the voice of God.  It is wonderful when you hear the voice of God drawing upon your heart.  It is wonderful that God wants to spend time with us.  You may not feel comfortable with the presence of God if there is sin in your life.  Every time God passes by a sinner and they are uncomfortable then they are blessed.  God comes to draw all mankind to Him.  God wants to visit you every day.

We live in a society and we feel the pressures of that society every day.  Every once in a while you need to unhook from all the pressures and take time to commune with your own heart, get alone with God, and get all your priorities on the right side of the page.

If God ever asks where you are and you hear it, then you are blessed.  Adam and Eve were in a difficult spot, but they made the spot difficult themselves.

Gen 3:9  And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
Gen 3:10  And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
Gen 3:11  And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
Gen 3:12  And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
Gen 3:13  And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

The word ‘beguiled’ means to lead astray.  There is no question; undoubtedly even today the devil himself will come to visit you to see if he can lead you astray.  It may start with a thought or a temptation; the goal is to dead you astray.

‘Beguiled’ means to seduce and to corrupt mentally.  You all know how I feel about innocence.  Each of us needs to keep our minds pure, clean, and holy.  It is a terrible thing to let the enemy corrupt you mentally.   Sometimes people get corrupted by thinking, “Someone looked at me funny.”  That can cause you to let an attitude begin to work in your heart and soul.  Where do the thoughts of “This or that one doesn’t like me.” Come from?

When we plant seeds we can expect the law of sewing and reaping to come to pass.  When you plant good seed in a child’s life, or anywhere else, you can anticipate a good harvest.  The enemy wants to beguile us in our mind.  Those that have committed suicide did so because they were corrupted mentally.  They thought that something would bring happiness and were disappointed.

You don’t gain anything by doing what is wrong.  Eve gained only trouble.

Gen 3:14  And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
Gen 3:15  And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

God told the serpent that He was going to put enmity between his seed and the woman’s seed.  Enmity means hatred.  The power and the affects of hatred are blood chilling.  Hatred leads to murder.

Hatred always leads to hostility.  If you yield to hatred you will become hostile.  It will lead you to do things that chill the blood.

The other side to this scripture is that God said, “I’m going to put enmity between the serpent and the seed of the woman.  The seed of the woman shall bruise the serpent’s head.”  Because God is, and God is in control of everything, Satan’s head shall be bruised and Satan shall bruise the heel of her seed.  This is a prophecy of Jesus.

May God help me to know how hostile Satan is to Jesus Christ.  I had a blood chilling experience this last week that made me realize this.

1Pe 5:8  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

This is written to show to everything in the world that he is hostile.  He comes as an angel of light.  Many people as they read the Bible let the enemy interpret it and that causes them to wrest the scriptures to their advantage.

An example is the use of the word repent.  The bible tells us that without holiness shall not man see God yet people go out and more or less sin every day.  They think that they are living the way God teaches because they repent every night.

The devil is hostile toward Jesus Christ and toward truth; he is hostile toward light.  He likes people to be in darkness and this is why he comes to try to get men and women to live inconsistent lives.  If that light that is in you becomes darkness, how great is that darkness.

The enemy has a great hatred toward the innocence of children.  Children are to be protected.  This is the reason we are glad for the teachers that are in our audience this morning and the high standard they teach and hold where they are.  There are a lot of things that children shouldn’t know; there are a lot of things that adults shouldn’t know.

Rebellion is loosed in the world today.  Children are rebellious; parents are rebellious.  They refuse to love their children.  From Adam and Eve a seed of sin was passed on to every individual that was born.  That seed to sin, if it isn’t dealt with, will bring forth rebellion.  This is the reason why fathers and mothers will forsake their children.

We see rebellion work the other way as well.  Parents love their children and the children take a rebellious attitude and are unthankful.

The worst thing that can happen to children is for their parents to spoil them.  It isn’t long until time flees away and sickness may grip the parent and the son or daughter will rush in and ask the doctor, “Why aren’t you doing something for mom or dad?”  Well where have you been?  What have you been doing?  Why haven’t you been there for your parents?  People say, “Well I’m busy.”  Who isn’t busy?

If that seed to sin if it isn’t dealt with it will get out of control.  This will cause men and women to become monsters.  A life of no morals arises from the seed of sin; people don’t want you to say anything is wrong about anything.  If someone is cheating in school, or has promised something and doesn’t keep their promise, they don’t want you to say anything.  They want you to “Just let it pass.”  No, it is wrong, stand for what is right and keep your word.  When we say that we’ll do something, we “swear to our own hurt and repent not.”

Men and women alike need to be modest.

We believe in justice.  If you are buying wood, pay a just price for it.  If you’re selling wood, give a just amount of wood for the price.  We believe in justice in hiring and firing.  I borrow from Bro Cornelison the saying, “Give eight for eight.”  We need to be just in working eight hours for eight hours work pay.

Right principals: we live in a world that says, “Everything is great.”  No, everything is not great.  Right is right and wrong is wrong.

Jesus said to Peter, ‘Satan has desired to sift you like wheat.’  There is an enemy in the world today that wants to fight us, beguile us, pressure us, and get us into the grey area and take advantage of us.  He wants to take advantage you and have you be his forevermore.

Some adults are hostile toward convictions.  If something is wrong it is wrong it doesn’t matter whose children they belong to or who the parents are.

We are at war against darkness and Satan, the ruler of darkness.  May God help you and me to be instructed by the Word of God.

Eph 6:10  Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

We don’t have enough strength on our own.  We need the Lord to help us.

Eph 6:12  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

We are not fighting any individual.  We are fighting the spirits that they have yielded to and the things that they set up that are wrong.  May God help us to have discernment to realize what type of spirit that we come up against.

People that love darkness, whatever the sin might be, are very adamant against you as you take a stand against it.  Christians are Christ-like.  Jesus didn’t sin every day.  The rulers of darkness and spiritual wickedness in high places love sin and whenever a person takes a stand against those that are professing there will be sparks.

Eph 6:13  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Eph 6:14  Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

Know how to stand.  Don’t stand fighting and with a sharp elbow ready to knock the wind out of people.  Stand and do right.  Don’t try to make any trouble.

Eph 6:15  And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Eph 6:16  Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Have the shield of faith in your hand and when the fiery dart comes, stop it right there without the thought of “Should I take it or leave it?”

Eph 6:17  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Eph 6:18  Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Rom 16:20  And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

Stay true to God, stay right before Him, love God and Satan shall be bruised under you.

Mat 11:28  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Mat 11:29  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Mat 11:30  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
