Brother Gyme Sunday School 6/8/14

Brother Gyme Sunday School 6/8/14
Jas 1:1  James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.

James may have been a cousin or a brother to Jesus, but he called himself, “a servant of God.”  People get caught up in details that are not important.  We don’t want to do this but focus on what is important.  We want to be as James was “a servant of God.”

Jas 1:2  My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

We are going to be tempted with various temptations.  “Count it all joy.”  That is a challenge when we are tempted or going through things to count it joy.  We will see why he says this.

Temptations are a putting to proof.  They are there to prove us to God.  It also proves it to you.  It helps you know, “Hey I do have this settled.”   We have all gone through where we have failed in a temptation and come back and say, “I’m sorry God and I’m going to grow.”  Then we grow.

Jas 1:3  Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

Trying means testing of your faith:  Faith is a moral conviction of religious truth or the truthfulness of God especially reliance upon Christ.

The trying of your faith works patience.  Patience means cheerful endurance.  These hard times are to help us to have endurance to be able to get through, steadfast cheerful endurance.

Worketh means to accomplish.  The trying of our faith is to accomplish patience, cheerful endurance.

I need reminded sometimes when I’m in the tough times that it is for my good.  My new job is challenging.  Everyone there is focused on me as I put catheters in the heart.  I am in the middle and the focus is on me.

There is criticism so that I can learn.  If I submit to it then it will help me to grow.  It is the same spiritually.  It is not to beat us down but to help us to improve.

Not everyone in the world knows how to teach in a kind way, but God knows how to teach us.  He knows just how much fire to put on and how to teach us according to the Word of God.

Rom 5:3  And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
Rom 5:4  And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
Rom 5:5  And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Knowing that tribulation works patience:  The answers don’t come right away all the time.  The waiting on God, keep trusting God, “God I know that you are going to do what your Word says.”  That is patience working.

A year is not a long time for God.  His time is perfect.  The end is not the goal so much with God.  It is the process as we are going through.  God is more interested in us in the daily than the thought of reaching a certain spot.

The thought is to let go and let God, to trust Him.

Sister Brenda: God has such a good record.  We have proved Him time and again.  Our trials and temptations are not new.  We know what He has done in the past.  “Remember this time and that time when God came through.”
We know that if we serve Him that He will help us.  I say to God, “I know that you are going to help me with this.  I don’t know what to do or even the right thing to do.”  This gives me confidence when I go through a hard place in life.
Sister Vi: I was thinking of Jeremiah when I was going through a hard place.  They let him down with ropes into a pit and his feet were in mire.  He was in a hopeless situation.  But God had prepared a man up on the ground to help him.
God comes through for us.
Joseph was just but it would have been easy for him to get discouraged.  God was preparing him to save his family in the famine and to be in a place of leadership.

This is true in any job.  There are no shortcuts to experience.  We see where we want to be but there is no shortcut to being fully trained.  There are no shortcuts to having it all together.  We have to go through some things and sometimes they are hard and we don’t have them all together.

Everything that God puts in our pathway is designed to help us, not destroy.  They are designed to better us and get us through to the goal.  It is designed to prepare us for what He has for us.

There are some hard things in life.  One of the hardest things that I went through was when my parents passed away.  I learned some things through that.  God was there to help us and it was there to better us.

Brother Bill - Chambers said that it is the refining in-between pt A and pt B, it is the work that is being done, that is the goal.  The things that we learn by what we go through will stick with us the rest of our lives.
I remember spending time on my knees before God and the storm raging.  I cried out to God, “Your word says… no matter if I get an outward demonstration or not, I believe what your word says.”  It came to me then, “according to your faith so be it.”
He comforts us so that we can comfort.

Not only do we benefit from it but we can edify and help others.  Once we go through something then we can more than sympathize.  We can empathize.  We understand on a whole new level.

Brother Bill will have a burden for that man being falsely accused because he knows down inside, “That was really tough.”  He can bring that burden to God and to the saints like no one else.

Mat 5:11  Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

It can be tough in this situation but the Bible says, “Blessed.”  If all talk well of you then the bible says that that is not good.

Act 5:41  And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

2Co 12:9  And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2Co 12:10  Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

Php 2:16  Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
Php 2:17  Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all.
Php 2:18  For the same cause also do ye joy, and rejoice with me.

Jas 1:2  My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
Jas 1:3  Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

The trying of our faith works patience.

Jas 1:4  But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
Jas 1:5  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Perfect work is a complete work.

Wisdom :
1) wisdom, broad and full of intelligence; used of the knowledge of very diverse matters
1a) the wisdom which belongs to men
1a1) spec. the varied knowledge of things human and divine, acquired by acuteness and experience, and summed up in maxims and proverbs
1a2) the science and learning
1a3) the act of interpreting dreams and always giving the sagest advice
1a4) the intelligence evinced in discovering the meaning of some mysterious number or vision
1a5) skill in the management of affairs
1a6) devout and proper prudence in intercourse with men not disciples of Christ, skill and discretion in imparting Christian truth
1a7) the knowledge and practice of the requisites for godly and upright living
1b) supreme intelligence, such as belongs to God
1b1) to Christ
1b2) the wisdom of God as evinced in forming and executing counsels in the formation and government of the world and the scriptures

When we come to God we must believe.  We have proven Him over and over.  We can look back and see how He has come through over and over again.

Brother Jim: Upbraideth means that He will not make fun of you or think that your question is silly.  You want to know the steps there so that you get it right.  He’s not going to belittle you.  He wants you to have that wisdom.
He’ll not just give you a little bit but liberally.  You have not because you ask not.  I am big on asking, “Where is this or that?”  God wants to help us.  He has everything the best for you.
He is not an angry God but wants what is best for you.  He made us, just like if you raise a child and they do well, you are proud of them.
What is man that God is mindful of them?  That was His plan.  We have a spiritual and a natural body.  God wants to see us grow.  He wants to feed us and to help us.  We are his children and are made in His image.  He wants to help us.  It kills us to see young people going through a divorce.  Why?  They don’t have to.  His help is right there for us if we will just ask.
Communication on a job there has to be really good communication.  If not then over and over there is misunderstanding.  If there is a miscommunication even among ourselves then we need to go and “Did I get this right?”  Get it out so that something doesn’t start working that shouldn’t be.

With God we need to get it straight so that we get it right.  He wants to communicate with us and He loves to hear from us.

Brother Gary Wednesday Evening 6/4/14

Brother Gary Wednesday Evening 6/4/14
1Ti 2:1  I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

There is a way to have direction as to how to work with a soul; that is to supplicate.  The enemy has done great things to keep souls from getting saved, but we are laying a hold on one that is greater.

1Ti 2:2  For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

One thing I know, God is in control.  As fast as things move, it could happen that before next year we may not be able to have vacation bible school.  We need to work and pray.

1Ti 2:3  For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
1Ti 2:4  Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
1Ti 2:5  For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
1Ti 2:6  Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
1Ti 2:7  Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.
1Ti 2:8  I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

Eph 5:17  Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
Eph 5:18  And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Eph 5:19  Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Eph 5:20  Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Eph 5:21  Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

We are to be easily entreated.  You have learned what God requires for us to prosper here.  As we submit one to another, we learn, teach, edify, and build.

Heb 13:20  Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
Heb 13:21  Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

In your list of things to do tomorrow: let God have His portion.  Say, “I need the list because I want to get things done, but I want to be subject to the will of God.”

Is God not the same today?  Jacob’s ladder went clear up into heaven.  Be careful where you let your ladder stop.  Let it come clear from heaven.

Psa 106:21  They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;

This is a very stirring scripture.  Don’t forget the good things that God has done.  Something that has stirred me in my spiritual life speaking of the Children of Israel:  they wanted quail, and certain things...  They lusted exceedingly after the desires of the flesh.  God gave them that desire but sent leanness to their soul.

We have every reason to be vigilant, even to be militant, “I want the will of God and to not forget what God has already done.”

Psa 126:1  A Song of degrees. When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
Psa 126:2  Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.
Psa 126:3  The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.
Psa 126:4  Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south.
Psa 126:5  They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
Psa 126:6  He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

Brother Gary Sunday Morning 6/1/14

Brother Gary Sunday Morning 6/1/14
Mat 6:9  After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Mat 6:10  Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Mat 6:11  Give us this day our daily bread.
Mat 6:12  And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
Mat 6:13  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

One of the thoughts that Jesus left as He was teaching us to pray is that we would pray that His kingdom would come.

Rom 14:17  For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

If they say the kingdom is out there somewhere, don’t believe it for it is within you.

Luk 17:20  And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
Luk 17:21  Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

We thank God that Jesus came and brought a kingdom of righteousness, peace, and joy.  My thought this morning for the graduates is that God’s will be done.

Sometimes people make spiritual things a mystery so they cannot figure it out nor can anyone else.  Jesus taught us in Matthew 18 about children, their angels behold the father’s face on behalf of them.  He then came down to this thought, “It is not the Father’s will that anyone perish.”

I was struck with the word, ‘perish,’ recently.  We are blessed in America with bibles, commentaries, and concordances.  A concordance that is exhaustive has a reference to each word in the bible whether it is Hebrew or Greek.  If you look up the word, ‘perish’, you will find reference number 622 in the Greek.

The first thought is that we be not destroyed.  We live in a society where it almost chills us when we see men and women allowing their minds and bodies to be destroyed by sin.

It is not the father’s will that your life be marred and scarred.  You may say, “If it is not the Father’s will that I perish, because of sin I have already marred and scarred my life.”  We have all sinned according to the Word of God.  Sin scars every relationship.

When we come to Christ confessing and repenting of our sin, we become a new man.

2Co 5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

The father desires that your life from that point on be not scarred, marred, and deteriorated from sin and the affects of sin.

Concerning God’s will:

Eph 5:17  Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

It is vital that you know God’s will for your life.  I was thinking of the thought of young people this morning, what would be the will of God for young people?  To be saved and sanctified, to present their body a living sacrifice.

David had a son, Solomon, God moved upon David to say to Solomon, “My son, be strong and do the will of God.”

This morning to every parent, grandparent, friend, or that one that doesn’t know the graduates but has an interest in them, we would all say as David, “Be strong and do the will of God.”

It is the weak link that causes people to stumble.  We have a God that can strengthen the weak link and cause us to be strong and do the will of God.

1Ti 4:11  These things command and teach.
1Ti 4:12  Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
1Ti 4:13  Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
1Ti 4:14  Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
1Ti 4:15  Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

It is a high calling and the will of God.  Be an example to the believers.

2Ti 2:15  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

In this congregation, it has been part of our teaching to have morning devotions.  Read some of the scripture and have prayer.  Enter the closet, shut the world out, and have your devotions.  Something else that is vital is to learn to study the Word of God.

I have a learning disability and God looked over it and was kind to me and this congregation is kind.  There has been many a man or woman that couldn’t even read or write but they prayed, “God help me to know what he will of God is.”

Rabi Zachariah was in India and endeavored to commit suicide, he failed and someone gave him a bible.  He got a hold of God and said, “I’m going to, with the help of God, find God and do His will.”

God doesn’t look upon men and women as smart or dumb.  God would have all men be saved and come to the knowledge of truth.

1Th 4:3  For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
1Th 4:4  That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

Many are happy to be freed from their sin but want to go on and live their own way.  Jesus suffered without the camp that He might sanctify His people with His blood.

It is lives not pews or pianos that are to be sanctified.  We are to present our bodies to God holy acceptable

Rom 12:1  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Rom 12:2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

The most wonderful thing for any life is the will of God.  More important than what we would have on our list, we want to do the will of God.

The will of God is not mysterious; it is God opening the door, giving you a burden, and you doing it.

Isa 40:11  He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.

Karen and I love sheep.  We love to go see them and see the baby lambs.

The Great Shepherd wants to feed you spiritually.  If you are fed on the inside then it will give you strength to overcome temptation.

When an individual gets saved they become a babe and a new lamb.  The Shepherd will carry them close to His bosom.  The heart of God is concerned and cares about me.

There are those in this audience that are so burdened.  In all the cares, emotions, and stress of a burden the Great Shepherd is concerned about leading you.

Rev 21:7  He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

He that overcomes shall inherit all things.  The Best is for the individual that will take the challenge, “I am going to overcome.”  Some of the greatest things to overcome are your own thoughts and fears.

“I will be His God and he will be my son.”  If you are a daughter He’ll have you as His daughter.
