Brother Gary Sunday Morning 2/7/16

Psa 139:14  I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

We make a choice how we live our life:  I will praise thee!

David made this expression that he would praise God.  Then he brought the thought, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”

I am happy that I never want to quit learning.  I always want to be a student.  Perhaps I am not the only one in this audience that wishes that I had been a better student academically when I was younger.  I wish I had studied God’s Word more.  We are here this morning.

We are fearfully and wonderfully made.  God did a marvelous job when he put that dust together.  He made man and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul.

We have a natural body and we have a spiritual body.  We desire to know what we don’t know.  It is good to desire to know what God wants us to know.

I am not dealing with the thought of knowing the corruption of politics, or the corruption in other places.  There are things we need to know in our heart, mind, and soul.

We need to know about God.  He is Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent.  God knows everything.  If you have any question about God being a God of knowledge and understanding, He knows everything.

Wisdom and power belong to God.

We need the wisdom of God especially in our soul.  I think of all the things that are offered individuals today and they are very substandard to what God is offering every soul in this audience.

They have a lady in long-term care in Plains that is 106.  To think of what God would offer her!

Probably today already a new baby has been born somewhere.  Think of what God is offering the youngest!  Think of what God is offering every one of you children and young people this morning!  God has all wisdom and power.

In Acts the fifteenth chapter, “Known unto God are all His works.”  I think of the mysteries that are in the world today, just the mysteries of the human body, of the mind, and of the brain!  A child begins to learn very young.  A child comes into the world desiring to know.

God knows everything.  “Oh the depth of the wisdom and knowledge of God!”

We can stumble all over ourselves telling how dumb we are and of all the mistakes we have made.  But I want to look at another thought this morning.  There is an eternal God that created every one of us.  He not only speaks to our spirit and to our mind, but D.O. Teasley wrote the song, “I Know In My Heart What It Means.”

Isn’t it wonderful to know that you are loved with an everlasting love?  It is wonderful to know what salvation is.  It is wonderful to know that God knows everything.

If you and I will position ourselves before God in such a way, friends and brothers and sisters in Christ, God has given you one of the greatest opportunities ever given and that is to go into the secret closet of prayer.

When we go into the closet and shut the door, and we turn off our mind and the voices that speak, we realize, “I have chosen to be in the presence of the Almighty God.”

No one can force you to go to the closet or to pray.  I want to help you to grasp the benefit that is yours if you go into the secret closet of prayer.  The first thing you meet when you shut the door is honor.  To come into the presence of God and His Almighty Son is an honor that this world has never known.

I thought of the honor to have had the people in our past that have taught us.  I think of the brethren that have taught me.  We thank God for all he has taught us but there some things that the saints have taught me that I would have never known otherwise.

I think of what it will be like to see those that helped us to escape the snares.  Those that helped us to understand doctrine.  That left scriptures with us that have never left us.  Way back in time they taught me things that I have never forgotten.

You make the choice to be saved.  No one can keep you from being saved.

I read of a meeting where Brother Warren preached and prayed and night after night they worked with souls and souls resisted God.  We make a choice to yield to God it is a choice.

When you pray, the scripture says, “Enter the closet and shut the door.”  You will know when you shut the door that you are in the presence of Almighty God.  When you sense the presence of Almighty God the next thing that happens, “Honor is before Him, and then Majesty.”  You realize, “I am in the presence of one that will change my life for eternity.”

I have been before Him with an attitude that needed to be changed.  Until I got there and allowed Him to begin working with my soul, I had the attitude.

Maybe you have been done wrong.  That is a part of life.  It is wonderful that you can go into the secret closet of prayer and begin to pray.  God begins dealing you and you realize, “This bitterness takes too much of my energy and it is not worth it.”

There are two things that I have never left the closet without as long as I stayed there and allowed Him to work and that is strength and beauty.  Beauty in your attitude, in your surrender to God…

Oh the depths of the riches!  You think of the precious metals and other precious things in the world.  There is something more valuable and that is the riches of the knowledge of God.

Pro 8:14  Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.

Everyone here will need counsel, if not in the next seven hours then in the next seven days.  You will need that time alone with God.  You will not find it on the internet.  You will not find it in the books that say, “How to be successful in 2016.”  You will find it in the book that has 66 in it.

We have an appreciation for love and peace.  I have a great appreciation for a conscience that doesn’t bother me.  I am too old to take any chances with my conscience.  You don’t have to mess with your conscience.  You don’t have to live on the border line.

“Counsel is mine.  Sound Wisdom.”  Think of the wisdom that is right for you, He has it.  All of us are different.  He has the right counsel for your personality, for the way that you are made, and the right counsel for the exact position that you are in, in life.

God’s counsel for the little children is right.  Love your parents, love God, and be kind to each other.  Many of us parents learned that as we were teaching it to our children, “Be ye kind one to another.”

God has counsel for the teenagers.  We are glad for each one that is here.  We would like you to have our personal phone number.  We like you that well.  There is one that loves you even more.  This is what is said about Him, “He has sound wisdom.”

You say, “I was wondering what the best thing for me in life was.”  God knows.  We are not trying to mess with God.  He always knows.

Christ said, “I am understanding.”  Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be understood?  Have you ever wondered what it would be like, as you looked into the mirror, to understand yourself?

I remember trying to grasp what would be best, this or that…  God knows.

He said further, “I have strength.”  That is God.

Jud 1:24  Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

Jud 1:25  To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

You don’t ever have to backslide.  You can stay saved.

We live in such a sad world.  You almost need to prepare yourself even if you go into a business place to visit someone.  You see such sad people.  I look and my heart is so sad to see such sad people.

The other day I went into a business in Plains.  I saw a young lady and as I went in and saw her, it broke my heart.  Her life is so sad.

I won’t be the exception, you won’t be the exception.  Unless we will choose to serve God, we will die very unhappy individuals.  That is how it is.

But if we serve God we have access to the only wise God.  It is He that gives joy.  One of the fruits of His Spirit is Joy.

Jud 1:24  Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

To the only wise God… Majesty… We need miracles in our life daily.

Jud 1:25  To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

Dominion: “God I want your will in my life.  I tried my way.  I tried the worldly way.  I tried the Kelly way.  It did not produce joy.”

My family like your family was very gifted.  I will not tell you the end of my uncle that could play the banjo when he was a teenager.

There was a man that said, “I have not lost the wonder of it all.”  The wonder of it all is to be saved.  He came looking for me.  While He was looking for me, I found Him.

God created man fearfully.  God created Adam.  He put every consideration to make sure that every detail of his conscience would be there and be active.  God did not just throw you together.  The bible tells us that we are fearfully and wonderfully, miraculously, made.

He gave every detail to your emotional system.  I don’t know where the conscience is in our body or spirit, but I know that God made you with one.  Aren’t you thankful that you know right from wrong?  Aren’t you thankful that you know that it is wrong to mistreat a child?  That it is wrong when a bully takes advantage of another student?  That it is wrong for a husband or a wife to mistreat each other?

Aren’t you glad for the conscience that when you heard of a child that was unwanted that you wanted to go take the child.  Aren’t you glad that at night you know that you ought to be praying?  Aren’t you glad that God speaks to men and women, “You need to be praying?”

You get up in the morning and realize, “Before I start this day I need a scripture and I need to ask God to help me.”

Aren’t you glad that Moses wrote to the Children of Israel, “Love the Lord thy God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.  If you will do this then God will prosper you.  Then after a while don’t forget what God has done for you.”

We are blessed that there is the quickening power of God that brings to your conscience a hunger for God.

I get so hungry for God.  I thirst for God.  I love the presence of God.  Devotions is not a chore but a privilege.

Even in your busy schedule, there is nothing like devotions.  God is the God of the children.  You might not be able to pray as long as some of the rest of us but pray and God will honor it.

God created the body to be the temple of God.

1Co 6:19  What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

1Co 6:20  For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

God created us for His glory.  He created us wonderfully.

We are able to be taught.  We are blessed that we are able to learn.  We are blessed that God has given us this ability.  It is the mercy of God that you have intelligence.  God created us a moral creature to know right from wrong.

We all love children in this congregation.  I am always inspired when a child asks, “Is it ok if I do this?”  When they ask then you know that probably their mom or dad has a rule.  “What is your mom or dad’s rule?”

It is valuable to know the value of obedience.  To know in your conscience, “”I have obeyed,” and to know the penalty of disobedience.  God created us with a conscience, a tender conscience.

God helped us to know what we already knew in our heart.

Gal 6:7  Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

I wonder how old I was when I realized, “I must obey or suffer the consequence.”

You don’t have to listen to God, but are you prepared for the consequences?  I often meet individuals that say, “I have such regrets.”  Will you be that way ten years from now?  You don’t have to be that way.

Gal 6:8  For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

We are created a creature of choice.  You can love self and the praise of men.  If you love self then you will love the world.  Whether you reach the praise of man or not you will reap for that desire.

But if in your heart you cry out, “I really want to know God, to serve Him, and to give Him back what He has given me,” where there is the desire and the will to give back to God there is the time and the place.  The age of the person does not matter.  God is not unjust.  All He asks for is today.  “I will give you my heart today.  Whatever you choose to bless me with I will give back.”

If you acquire an education then give it back to God.  If you don’t get an education then give yourself back to God and say, “God I am depending on you to teach me.  I am not going to hide behind the thought that I don’t know.”

He that sows to the flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption: There is something about making your own choice that causes it to turn sour.  There is something about yielding everything to God, “Here it is; you can take it or give it back to me.”

He that sows to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

You are fearfully and wonderfully made.  God made you with a body and with a soul.  Everyone here has a soul, a body, and a conscience.  If God has spoken to you, the choice is yours.  God will not force you, he will not make you, but He will call you.
